I would call this hotel adequate, although they certainly have some strong competition right across the street. The Staff seemed friendly and professional. The rooms are not too dated, although none of my crew could get the humidity out of our rooms and they felt sticky and moldy. The bathroom was fine, with the exception of some stuff on the shower walls and shower curtain. I would not normally complain but rather looked like boogers on the wall. So there's that.

This place was disgusting. I did not choose to stay here but rather was out voted unfortunately. The old saying "you get what you pay for" is true as ever here. The room smelled, stains on the floors and walls, hallway was disgusting. There was nothing good about this place except for the leaving part.

For those who travel and stay in hotels, avoid Comfort Suites. We avoided lower prices because of fear of not being clean so we decided to pay a little more. Surprise! Nasty and dirty. Try another franchise not Comfort Suites and believe me there are many. (we traveled with our little dog so options were limited.)

Dirty entrance, hallways, and room. My room's peephole glass was missing, the key cards didn't work at first, dust was everywhere and you could see what was not wiped clean, and I found a soap wrapper next to the sink faucet! How the hell do you miss that? The fridge didn't have controls; the knob was missing. I saw all of this in less than fifteen minutes before waking next door to Bob Evans for breakfast-I can't trust a hotel breakfast at a place this dirty. On the plus side the staff are friendly and the hotel is near shopping and food all within walking distance. Still this place needs a match, fire, and a new building.

*PLEASE SEE THE AMAZINGLY CLUELESS AT THE END OF MY REVIEW *…read more At check-in I was told the pet fee was $30 not $20. The web site and reservation center stated $20. When I questioned it, the clerk became offended and angry. She said the that the information seen and told to me was wrong. I questioned her about how that could be. She said 'FINE, I'LL PAY THE 430 FOR YOU!!' I reminded her that I was willing to pay the $20 as clearly stated. Then she called me 'HON'. Not the nice and charming 'Hon" of the South. It was the snarky 'HON' that says "I'M IN CHARGE HERE!' . . .and you are Not." Then she called an employee from the back to bring her wallet. She opened it like she was going to pay for it. I have no idea if she did or not. I apologized for any misunderstanding and suggested we start over. She said "IT'S DONE!" I thought to myself Y I K E S!....we are going to get a really nasty room . . . and I was right! * We had to keep opening the toilet lid to flush. I finally figured out how to fix it by sticking my hand in the tank and moving the chain to a different location on the arm and reclipping it. Yuck!! Is that my job as your paying guest? * Toilet paper holder is not secured to the wall * The shower head is not fully operational. We know how to use the lever to change the spray. It didn't work. The pipe from the wall looked like it was going to fall on our heads * The hand sanitizer in the lobby does not work These are not remodeling issues. They are maintenance. But first you must care. Fancy chairs in the lobby do not make up for a room with these problems. Pluses: Good mattress and bed linens and decent towels. Yep . . .that's the only plus I can give you. Oh, and Mike who checked us out in the morning. He was very friendly and professional. He treated us like we matter! HERE IS THE RESPONSE I RECEIVED FROM THE MANAGER! Overall rating - 4.7/10…read more Girlfriend and I stayed here when visiting Richmond for our 3 year anniversary. We didn't want to splurge on the fanciest of hotels; however, we didn't want to go cheap either, hence we stayed at Tru by Hilton. It really seemed like a nice place to stay based on the pictures, we were wrong. We spent $119 on the following with our discount through work. I will rate it on the three following areas: Cleanliness - 3/10, the sheets and bed area were quite clean and very comfy. We appreciated no carpet in the room, adding to the cleanliness. The odor in the place really got to us, yes we know pets are allowed, but you would think they would offer ways to reduce and/or eliminate the smell. The whole place smelled very musty (aside from our room and the staircase). The bathroom was the sticking point on our overall cleanliness score. Upon getting in the shower we were presented with what appeared to be black mold, not happy about that at all, the towels also were not the cleanest, with my towel having dog hair attached to it as well as black spots. Hospitality - 7/10, I'd say average here. Nothing amazing but definitely nothing bad at all. I can't comment too much as we only stayed one night. Breakfast - 4/10 We appreciate hotel chains that offer breakfast as it's a simple way to get going on the morning. The breakfast here was very lackluster especially for a chain that is under the Hilton name. Eggs and sausage were very waxy and even slightly cold. The pancake maker made underdone pancakes (best thing at breakfast sadly). Oatmeal was very bad. We don't expect amazing breakfast by any means, this is purely just our score compared to other hotels that offered breakfast.

Pros: clean bedding, decent air conditioning, extremely friendly staff and easy check in,…read moremicrowave, fridge, ample plugs Cons: VERY strong smoke smell in my non-smoking room (I even called to check if it was non-smoking), broken security latch, dirty in the details (the walls, corners), alarming old style extension cord (pretty sure that's a safety hazard), no hand or bar soap in the bathroom (we used the body wash) If I weren't so tired I would have asked to move to a different room. The longer I sit here in the smoke stench, the more I wish I would have made that decision. It's quite nauseating.

The state of Kentucky motto is " Education Pays" as it says on the billboards as you enter the state. Well as you arrive to this facility you are welcomed with miss spelled marquee, I'm no English teacher , but in the age of smart phones, it's unacceptable to have this mistake. The hotel claims it's been renovated, slapping a thick coat of bright oil based paint over old paint doesn't count. The bed sheets were dirty and torn, the shower curtain has holes and pretty much every little detail was missed making much more noticeable when combined together. This is an unacceptable representation for the LA Quinta brand We are accustomed to. Seriously simple fix to show you cared about the renovation was fixed. Come on.... The night staff was friendly and helpful and the morning attendant as well, the breakfast was good and the area clean. I would stay here again until I see the room in person.
