Everything is super maintained than most parks I've been before! I usually go with my MIL, my baby girl and our dogs to get them some exercise as well and try to do 1-2 miles each time we are here. Depending on what trails you walk/hike on, theres some with shade and some that you will hit up the blazing sun, but with fall upon it hasn't been horrible! Everyone who hikes here are really respectful with the trails/area which is such a pleasant thing as there's usually not a lot of people who do that now a days. Will of course be returning weekly to get our steps in and vitamin D!

Loved how there were plenty of signs around too talking about the animals and plants common there. Good information about the park too and didn't feel I would get lost either (good flat paths you can take). I barely saw any trash flying around either and could tell they keep this park well kept. I absolutely plan to come back here in the future when I have time. Definitely worth the visit!

We drove out to the water and decided to walk those trails. The trails are all very easy to navigate. The more challenging trails may not have actually been trails at all, but got us down to the river bank for some lovely photos. The grounds and trails are very clean and well maintained. The camp sites look really nice and the bathrooms (I'm told) were Buccees level clean. There's a Discovery center that seemed to be interesting for the littles. I really enjoyed the solitude and the zen. I suspect it probably gets pretty packed though.

We parked near the end of the road where you'll find a parking lot with bathrooms and changing facilities. We met our hiking group and trekked off walking along the Guadalupe River. Make sure to bring water shoes with grip cuz you'll cross the river to get to more hiking trails. The water was cool and the flow perfect...depending on the time of the year, it can get quite powerful. The weather was gorgeous - fall vibes of overcast and cooler temps. We hiked a mix of many shaded forest areas and open fields . Captured many pics of the fall changes - leaves turning shades of yellow and orange. And I gotta kick seeing live armadillos scurrying amongst the long grasses. So cute!!! With the great weather and scenery, we hiked a steady pace and clocked in approximately 8.5 miles ! Loved hiking through the river : ) Clean bathrooms and changing rooms were a plus!

Once we arrived, we found the tunnel is just the bottom of the start of the trail. While bats had migrated south for the winter, we did see a few flying inside. The trail is about a mile round trip. While we didn't hike it, it didn't appear too challenging. The lost challenging was probably walking down all thise steps to the tunnel. We'll have to make another trip during bat season to see the bats flying out of the cave

These folks put their hearts and souls into conserving nature...& it's not free to do so. There's a visitor center, gift shop, and walking trails. Spring-fed marsh, wildflowers, wooded areas, tall-grass, and so on. You can sometimes spot an armadillo or two scurrying about (along with other critters). There's a Monarch Butterfly research field to check out too. They have learning center and auditorium too. Really beautiful way to spend a day in nature.

There were so many spots and nature around that made it easy to stroll and find a cute spot to take pictures. There are signs that help guide you to where you need to be and there is a creek halfway through the nature center. When I went there was a tour for school kids so it was busier than we thought but still didn't stop us from exploring! I will say if you're not a fan of bugs you may have a harder time walking here. (I'm not much of a fan of bugs but pushed through for the photos). There were lots of spider webs and mosquitos as expected but nothing we couldn't dodge. There are various places to park, but I parked right near the Nature Center which had a map to guide us as well. Overall it was a cute place and would keep doing my photos here!

There was no one else at the park when I went. Maybe I just came at a bad time, but I didn't really see how it would have been any different if I came another time. This place was run down and nothing innovative that you can't see at another park.

This is one…read moreof two off-leash parks in Kerrville, the other being Lehmann-Monroe Park at the far east end of Louise Hayes Park. I have no dog but I do enjoy fishing and at the far end of the park is my favorite spot. It's an inlet that is usually calm, even in breezy weather. The fish always seem to want to bite--me catching them is another story! Actually, there's good fishing just about anywhere in the park and a few good swimming spots; just look around for the rope swings. Although the lake is small, boats are allowed and there's a concrete launch near the park entrance. If like me, solitude's your thing, you'll find it here. The park is seldom crowded; it's a great place for a picnic or just to get away from the hustle and bustle for awhile. And there's a nice flock of Egyptian geese in residence along with some Muscovy ducks. You'll also see egrets and herons, especially during the nesting season. I have two complaints but they don't keep me away--neither should they you. The roads, although paved, are subject to developing deep pot holes so drive slowly (as of this writing, there have been recent repairs). The other is lack of decent restrooms. There are port-a-potties which are kept clean but no running water for washing your hands. If you want to get away from it all, Flatrock Park's the place. And if you travel to the far end of the park and see a guy fishing in that inlet I mentioned, it's probably me--stop and say hi!

We had a great time walking next to the Guadalupe River which loops around for miles. Shady areas under the canopy of the trees and lots of picnic areas inside the park. Fishing seems very popular at the park, and you can see the trout swimming around. We walked for 8 miles on Easter Sunday, and the walking paths never seemed crowded. We shared the paths with other walkers, joggers ,runners, and bikes on the path too.

Fantastic municipal park!…read more After a second year at this park, I can say that we love this park. This park is adjacent to the "mighty" Guadalupe River, and in particular Kerville's dammed in Guadalupe Lake, where the park's inhabitants can fish, swim, SUP, kayak, and pretty much anything else you can do in a small body of water. Our scouts had a fantastic time, they spent the entire day in the water... and would have spent the night, had we let them. The grounds on the river side are clean, but fully to semi- exposed to the sunlight, which can be brutal in the Texas summers. This side also has cabins, two docks and a recreation space for events. All were being utilized, but everybody was respectful and friendly. We did cross the highway to hike some of the trails on the opposite side of the park. We found various trails of 3-5 miles of length. There were more cabins and camping spots on this side. All was well maintained. The there are four shower/bathrooms at the top of the camp site, a dumpster for collected trash, and marked campsites. There are spigots for drinking water spread amongst the available campsites, but they are not at every one. The Kerrville City Parks facilitators were always patrolling and attentive to our needs. This park is a beautiful city park, and worth considering for your outdoor activities.
