They have a lot of great classes they offer each month. They have a large variety of items from new to vintage and you can really tell the owner is picky with whom she allows to set up in her shop. The shop itself is really big and set up so elegantly you could easily wander and shop for an hour. Kathy's shop is a definite must see when you are strolling around Fortville. I just wish I took more pictures to share but i was so drawn into looking around i forgot. This town is also a great place for some amazing fall pictures or photographers in general. Don't forget to check out the gorgeous benches and outdoor decor while you are there;)

I could spend a whole afternoon here. There's lots of stuff to look at and paw through. Many antique stores have caught on to the fact that people like vintage things, and they have marked up their prices accordingly. The people at J.W. Riley's Emporium haven't gotten that memo yet, so the prices are really very good. (Shhh! Nobody send them that fax!) Of course, the prices vary by booth because each booth is rented by a different person. But overall, you can find lots of gems for low-low prices. There is an upstairs and downstairs. I didn't see an elevator, but perhaps there is one? Upstairs, there's a room that contains lots of frames and paintings, and it is the most quiet space that I've ever been to outside of a recording studio. It's kind of eerie. Just go past the creepy dolls and you'll find it. I could have left with bags and bags of things that I didn't need but really wanted. Instead, we just left with a t-shirt for one of my kids.

Things are a bit unorganized right now because they seem to have so much inventory, that some walkways were blocked a little bit, but not too much so that made it difficult to get around. I'm hearing impaired and prefer text or email communication, so I contacted The Shambles using Facebook Messenger and received this immediate response: "Thanks for messaging us. We try to be as responsive as possible. We'll get back to you soon." I requested a text message reply and promptly received contact from an employee. I sent photos of one set of chairs in need of refurbishment. That employee immediately called me, which might have been welcomed if I were a hearing person, but then again, if any customer preferred telephone contact they would not request text or email. The only positive was that the employee advised they do not refurbish that particular style of chair and offered the information for another local business that could handle the work. I replied a thank you for the referral and photos of 2 more furniture sets in need of restoration, requesting estimates. The reply I received was tinged with annoyance... which is why they received 1-star from our interaction. I know for a fact they could replace and recover the seats on my bar stools, but she indicated they don't work on aluminum chairs... I guess she saw the metal back and made assumptions instead of asking questions; not a good business practice. Next she quoted $550 to strip and refinish the "redwood" pieces, which is ridiculously high! I could buy nicer new pieces for $550. But the nail in the coffin was when she stated "If you want to discuss further, please call our shop at 317 894 7075 as this is my personal cell phone." I do business where I'm treated well and I don't have to demand accommodation for my disability. Her suggestion that I "call our shop" was like telling someone in a wheelchair to "climb the steps" so we can take your money. No thanks. Maybe another shop wanted my business so much that they installed a ramp to make it easier to do business with them, since you're not going to be accommodating, I'll go elsewhere.

However, before we purchased, I spoke with a friend at work and shared my displeasure with the lack of help that I received as my husband and I shopped. My coworker referred us to Blakley's and told us to look for Dar. My coworker said that Dar would take care of us. Dar lived up to her reputation! I did not think that Dar would want to bother with us because we wanted to install the flooring ourselves, but she was extremely helpful. We ended up purchasing the flooring from Blakley's. It took less than two week for us to receive the materials. The staff placed the flooring, quarter round, and transition pieces in our vehicle. I am glad that we purchased from Blakley's. They not only gave us better customer service, but also a better price than Prosource, the store from which we were originally going to purchase our flooring. I would recommend Blakley's if you are looking to purchase any flooring.
