Comfort Keepers helps me sleep at night! My very independent 89 year old mom was recently hospitalized and was so weak she could not be alone when she was discharged. I had her at my house initially but I needed to return to work! Allyson, Kim, and Laura all moved mountains to get reliable caregivers for my mom quickly! My mom has enjoyed her interactions with all the ladies who have been caring for her and I think her cognition is stimulated with all of the socialization. Now she is home in Ventura and still has caregivers from Comfort Keepers. Her husband with Alzheimer's in Memory Care recently went on hospice and the ladies have been so gracious to take my mom to his facility so she can spend time with him. Not exactly what was promised...Kim is a wonderful salesperson and made me feel secure and comfortable during the intake interview...however, I quickly discovered that she was over promising and under delivering. We requested a caregiver that would engage the patient, and instead we got one day of a good caregiver and three days of lazy caregivers that sat in a chair and looked at their phone. I am not sure how the vet their caregivers, but it seems like they put out a notice and whoever replies gets the job...not the personalized attention I sought and was willing to pay for. Also, we were billed for overtime that we never approved. Once they get your checking account number to withdraw funds, there is very little you can do to get compensated for the error. Comfort Keepers has provided care to my Mother and my Cousin during some incredibly difficult times. They provide care at the highest possible level including transporting my cousin to her doctor's appointments and caring for my mother who fought bravely for five years against lung cancer. The caregivers that were provided to my family were of the highest quality. They were caring, efficient, competent, and timely. Some of them became dedicated to such an extent that both my mother and my cousin would request the same caregivers over and over again. Comfort Keepers is family-owned. I have had many caregivers for my mom and dad Finally I found Comfort Keepers in Newbury Park They made sure that my parents were safe. My mom had 24 hour care and they had a caregiver for all three shifts & 7 days a week. The owners check in with me and make sure my parents are happy with the caregivers they have set them up with. The caregiver was there when my mom passed. They where a high comfort to my dad and our family. We are truly blessed to have Comfort Keepers working with my dad who broke his hip. When I hired comfort keepers they explained to me that they would provide me regular updates if there were any concerns regarding my moms care and that they would provide supervision over their staff and check in with my mother consistently to make sure her needs were being met. Last week I get a call the first in over six months saying that they are no longer able to meet my moms needs and we're immediately dropping her care. They said my moms requires nursing services but have given no explanation of what those are and when we checked with nursing providers they say she doesn't require that level of services as she is able to take care of all her basic needs. In the over six months I did not receive one single update or phone call and my mom reports that unless there wa a question about if a service was allowed to be provided that she had not had check in calls on even a monthly basis. The actual caregiving service by the provider I feel was good. I'm just concerned with the oversight and communication from the company to the family. The first call with a concern should not be the last and should include specifics so we can find the right type of care. read more

We have had the blessing of their services for the last two years. They are knowledable, proactive and attentive to every need, even those we don't think of. The agency does not interview their care givers that cared for my mom. Paid for 24 care, some care givers never attended to my dying moms needs as I watch her on her phone giggling and lack of respect. Mom was never changed or turned as we hired for with full expectations. Bed sores open as Hospice nurse had to lecture care giver that evening about no attention to anything going on. This went on for two 12 hours sessions days back to back. The care giver was not experienced as I guess she was 18 years old. I don't want anyone to go through what we have experienced as we were at mom's house 8 of the 12 hours on the 2nd day of this care giver. One care giver was very caring, but one day of good does no good for her last 12 days of coming home. Find another service ... The song and dance to sell their service in caring only works if you know your staff, but they were clueless! read more

I have used Comfort Keepers several times. My mom is comfortable working the care givers they have provided, especially Jenny Edgerly. I like that Comfort Keepers has provided me with quality care givers even in last minute situations. When someone has been at the house and a new person from Comfort Keepers steps in, even for just a night, the established person shows them the ropes and passes on what my mom likes and doesn't like. The hard part is their rate. Getting someone in on a regular basis, which is what I need for my parent, is very expensive. If I could have someone here for $20 an hour instead of $40+, I'd probably be much less drained physically, emotionally and financially. Comfort Keepers is perfect except for the $$$$ read more

After my mother had a completely unexpected stroke we moved her into our home. Both my husband and I worked full time and needed all the direction with this situation we could get. I was asking everyone for referrals for home health care. Comfort Keepers name kept popping up so I decided to call them. From the moment the phone was answered we received exceptional service. They sent a nurse to the hospital to meet my mom before she was discharged and to talk to the hospital staff about her specific needs. Once she came home, they advised that they had someone specific in mind for her bit that she wouldn't be available full time for the first week. They were so apologetic because there would be two different care takers just for the one week. It wasn't anything major to us but they like to make sure there is a relationship built between the patient and care taker and really strive for consistency. The second week in my mom met her care taker and it worked out great! It's definitely a very hard situation for everyone but Comfort Keepers made it as positive as possible. I've seen many families benefit from this company. They really do care!! The seniors look forward to their caregivers. They are great at finding good matches for their clients. I've seen the caregivers and how they treat their clients. Some want companionship, others basic care and others want to get out and about. There is a variety of needs which they strive to meet. They are always refining and considering how to make things better for their clients. The staff is very personable and even stop by to give gifts during the holidays. Bringing a birthday cupcake for a 95 year old is just one example of the personalized extras that show they care. We are very happy with them. read more

My 95 year old mother moved in with us in June of 2019. At that time, I started using Comfort Keepers two days a week, for three hours, so that I could run errands and do the things I need to do. A wonderful Comfort Keepers lady cares for my mom these days. She cares for my mom, feeds her lunch, does her chair exercises with her, and assists her as needed. In addition, the CK lady does light housekeeping chores (like laundry and dusting) also. Other times, when my husband and I have social events to attend in the evenings, Comfort Keepers schedules other ladies to care for mom. I have found all of the Comfort Keepers ladies to be kind, professional and well-trained. They arrive on time, and keep a log of the activities that took place while we were away. I can plan ahead by using the Comfort Keepers website and calendar. I would highly recommend this home care company. read more

They make you "comfortable" with a nice low rate during the initial interview and after the caretaker spends the first night all of a sudden they have to triple their initial daily rate because "your Dad was alot more work then we thought he was". Thats a quote from the managers of this bait and switch company. Definitely used the old bait and switch trick on us after finding out we had no one else to help my now deceased 84-year old Dad. I had home care services for 5 weeks after a complex major surgery at UCLA hospital. My caregiver was well trained in sponge path, walking with me, preparing lunch and doing laundry. He was polite, interesting to talk with and always finding things to do to help us during each 4 hour shift. Managers checked up on our satisfaction to assure that we were being well served. Comfort Keepers took care care of my grandmother when she was at the end of life (age 96). The caregivers were very kind and helpful. They helped our family through a very tough time. My parents were able to go to work because they knew there were loving people at the bed side with my grandma. Her caregiver, Lisa, called us when my grandmother went downnhill and we were able to get there to be with her for her last hours. I am a Comfort Keeper for the Newbury Park location. I have worked for a senior assisted living center and even in private residential homes and I have never seen or experienced the wonderful care and concern that this location gives to seniors in their homes or facilities. Many times an organization has a great mission statement but falls very short with the actual care and service that they provide. Because the owners are caring individuals that are trained and qualified to offer this service it is seen throughout the company. I am privileged and thankful to be part of a team that not only makes a fair wage but at the end of the day, I feel I have accomplished the satisfaction of being able to make a difference in the life of a senior. Whether it is companionship or actual basic care needs; it is a company that strives for excellence. From the operations dept to the nurses that oversee the cases as well as the team leaders it is a wonderful place to work. I took care of my elderly mother but most of the time it is difficult for children to provide care for their parents. I started working for Comfort Keepers as a caregiver since 2015. I started the nursing program and was able to work throughout the program all thanks to this company. When I graduated I was offered a position as a case manager and joined the team and to this day I am forever grateful for the opportunity I was given to expand my experience. I was able to see both sides of the spectrum, as a caregiver and a case manager. The amount of work that is put in to match all the clients with caregivers and vise versa is beyond incredible. There is so much work put in to make sure all their clients receive the proper care. The entire staff at this office all go above and beyond including the owners, Ellen and Andy. Ellen and Andy have been great and ALWAYS put their employees and clients first, they have been in the business for years and their work sure reflects their time and effort.
