I can't recommend Tami Podel highly enough as a care home consultant. She helped me find the…read moreperfect care home for my mother, who has dementia, and she was caring, professional, and incredibly flexible throughout the entire process. Tami took the time to ask thoughtful questions about my mom and truly understand her needs. After presenting several options and discussing them with me, she refined the list down to two homes and ultimately recommended the one she genuinely felt was the best fit. Having been through this process before -- my grandmother and my father both lived in local care homes -- I've seen many facilities and can easily tell which ones are well run and which ones are not. The home Tami chose is an absolute 10/10 and comes at a very reasonable price. I'm so grateful for her guidance, expertise, and compassion during what can be a very overwhelming time. Warmly, Lisa Dickson If you are looking for help placing a loved one, I highly recommend reaching out to Tami or Assisted Living Connections: Tami Podel Tami@alc4seniors.com 818-357-1123 Assisted Living Connections 888-880-1811

Mission House Sober Living - Men's House

A few years later I had a nervous breakdown and the hospital didn't know what to do with me. I quickly thought of mission house and the owners were very quick to welcome me back and help me get back to stable. Within 6 weeks I was starting to feel like myself again. I found the set up of the house fabulous, with plenty of personal accountability but also excellent accommodations compared to half a dozen treatment centers I've been to. Nice appliances, very attentive house managers and open invitations to join in house events and socializing. There's a kitchen if you cook and everyone gets fridge and pantry space. Everyone is expected to be doing the twelve steps and I quickly learned that step study wasn't as terrifying as I first felt! There is a lot of great support for people to find their own way but with an expectation that they be rigorous in their program of recovery. None of it happens without people and resources saying they are available all along the way. The care is really peer to peer focused on individuals with alcohol addiction. I am dual diagnosis (mental health and drugs) and felt very welcome and found the 12 Steps to be incredibly helpful. The parallels between alcohol addiction and my mental illness were astonishing. Honestly I don't think you can go wrong unless you don't really want to get better.

Senior Helpers - Dementia Care

Senior Helpers

Dona was the one who initially sold us on Senior Helpers. I had interviewed several and when she…read morecame she dealt with the physical, as expected, but what sold me was that she saw mom as a valuable individual who deserved to have the best quality of life available at her 90 plus years, even with end stage dementia, Alzheimer's and sundowners. She also had aphasia whereby her verbal communication disappeared completely. So it took time and patience to find out what she wanted or needed, and if she was in any pain. In three years with Senior Helpers, we only had one situation where the caregiver didn't show for some reason, but it was rectified quickly and never happened again. We always had very competent help and I never worried about leaving her with any of the caregivers. They each made sure they knew what her schedule was, likes and dislikes, food preferences, bathing routine, etc. For mom it was important for her routine and the familiar aspects of her life not to be disrupted because it created much anxiety for her otherwise. Mom always greeted the caregivers with a big smile, which meant she was glad they were there to be with her. She had two falls during the three years that ended up with a hospitalization and trips to ER. She shattered a shoulder the first time and broke a rib the second time. The caregivers always adjusted to her needs and as medication increased, they made sure they knew of the right dosages and times. With all the help Senior Helpers gave to Mom, she stayed mobile. When she fell one evening, it was a broken hip and that made her bedridden from then on. Again the Senior Helpers caregivers adjusted. When hospice was called in, Vanessa, the caregiver at the time, worked closely with the hospice staff, whether it be oxygen, crushing pills, moving her with minimal pain, etc. I don't know what we would have done without her constant attention to mom's needs and we learned a great deal from her as well. Dona and Anne came to see us when things became more tentative with mom's health and they took the time to explain what to expect, what to do, and how to be prepared for those last days. They told us they were here for the family because mom was being well cared for. It was so heartwarming for someone to anticipate my confusion and questions and have ready, gentle answers for whatever I asked. It helped me to be prepared to say the final goodbye to mom, and the caregiver was there to help us navigate the chaos that came at her final passing. We were so touched by Dona's compassion that we ask her to officiate at mom's memorial service because she is a chaplain as well. No one knew my mom or the family as well as she did and she brought that same love and caring to the service. It was a precious memorable day for me. Although it was a hard time for us as a family to see a loved one go downhill and to ultimately lose them in passing, Senior Helpers made our journey so much more bearable. I'm very sorry for the ones who may have had a difficult time with Senior Helpers. I watched them work and observed how they schedule and I can honestly say I don't think I could do their job. It's a daunting task to be ready for anything that may come up especially when it has to do with someone's loved one. I salute you, Senior Helpers all, for how you carry out your responsibilities every day. God bless you!

Cinnamon Garden Home - Tammy Frame, Administrator

Cinnamon Garden Home

A hidden gem of care, comfort, and compassion!…read more From the moment I walked up to the entrance of Cinnamon Gardens RCFE (Retirement Community for the Elderly), I was struck by the pristine neighborhood and the immaculate grounds of the home itself--an excellent first indicator of the level of care happening inside. As a senior placement consultant, first impressions matter deeply, and this one absolutely set the tone. I was warmly greeted at the door by the Administrator, Tammy, and from there, the tour just got better and better. Tammy is a gem--her love and commitment to her residents radiate from everything she does. She treats them like family, often going above and beyond to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system to secure the right durable medical equipment or services residents may need. That kind of support is not something she has to do--it's something she chooses to do. Tammy also has a strong network of providers and often relieves families of the burden of coordinating care, especially during an already overwhelming time. Her knowledge of innovative, often more effective equipment and care solutions is impressive, and she does it all with the residents' best interest at heart--frequently at no benefit to herself and at no or limited cost to them. On one visit, I arrived to find Tammy in the kitchen preparing a full Irish feast for St. Patrick's Day--corned beef and all the trimmings! The home was buzzing with life, with therapists coming in for different residents, and creative artwork by the residents proudly displayed throughout the home. Even though it's a 6-bed facility (which isn't required to post activities), she has a calendar posted--because she understands how important it is to give residents something to look forward to and to keep everyone meaningfully engaged. The home itself is beautifully remodeled, fresh, and impeccably clean. Residents are encouraged to personalize their rooms with their own belongings, creating a true home-like environment--not a facility-type lifestyle. There's warmth, laughter, great food, and a genuine sense of comfort throughout. The backyard is just as thoughtful--a peaceful gathering area perfect for fresh air and connection. Tammy ensured the recent remodel used only top-quality materials, all while staying fully compliant with assisted living standards. Each time I visit, I look forward to seeing the same uplifting energy and warm atmosphere. (Photos attached are my own -- casually taken during my visits, unedited and non-professional -- to reflect exactly what I saw and experienced firsthand.) Tammy's years of experience are clearly evident in every detail. Cinnamon Gardens isn't just a care home--it's a true haven, and a shining example of what an exceptional RCFE should look like. Highly recommend!
