I couldn't be happier with this agency they are very professional and have great caregivers working for them! Our caregiver has been with our son for many years and she is wonderful! This agency is the BEST agency I have ever had! This Agency hire qualified caregivers and they give them the proper training that they need for our children to be safe and well taken care of. Anytime I call the agency and I have questions they are very professional and have the best attitude and are prompt to take care of any question that we have. I have nothing but positive things to say about this agency and anyone that I come across that has a child with special needs I always recommend this agency before any of the other ones that I've used because of our families experience with them! Thank you CISS! Lesly Elenes read more

We have used this service for more than 10 years. They have given us so much support. Respite care is so important for parents to use. I recommend Nick for positive, care for your kids. Thank you Channel Islands! read more

Communication is lacking. No notice provided when issues arise, instead this agency contacts you in the aftermath leaving you with no time to address the issue or find solutions. You're simply left in a lurch. This is problematic considering the sensitive nature of services provided. Staff lacks understanding and simply lines up excuses. Disappointing. read more

Unprofessional respite service that will hire literally anyone with no background check. All they care about is money and they have no compassion for their clients or employees. Save yourself the time and look at the other respite companies that serve Ventura county. also a friend told me they work for this company and take their non verbal autistic children out and have beers!!! read more

Channel Islands Social Services is an amazing company and was a blessing to be a part of. I worked on the administrative team for almost 8 years and can truly say this family owned and operated business has a heart for serving people with disabilities. I would highly recommend this agency for any family seeking out both respite and ILS services in Ventura County. The administrative team as well as the respite care workers go above and beyond in giving everyone top quality service. read more

Channel Island Social Services is an amazing company to work for. I worked as part of the admin staff in the HR department for 3 years and can say I got to go home each day knowing I made a difference. If you have a family member that can benefit from the services provided by CISS I can tell you that you will not be disappointed. Each admin member takes great pride in the work they do to assist each family get their own caregiver hired or to hire and match somebody to them. If you want to work for a company that is so much more than just a 9-5 then I highly suggest you research CISS and what they stand for. read more

Channel Islands Social Services respite care has been a sanity-saver! AND, the CISS respite providers have always been more than just respite; they've respected and mentored my son, helped him enjoy his life, and helped him become a secure and social young man during that respite time (and beyond). My son considers his respite providers as part of his circle of friends, and rightfully so. They've cared about him outside of respite time and long after they were his providers. Beyond "respite" for me, I've enjoyed real peace of mind during that time, knowing that my son was being appreciated for the awesome human being that he is, through real relationships. There's no better respite than that. read more

Working with this agency has been a game changer for our family! We have been fortunate to have the same caregiver for the past 2 years and he is terrific! Not only is he considerate, reliable, and friendly but he has built a great rapport with our son. This has been so beneficial for our son's self esteem. Additionally, it has been a welcomed break for my husband and I to be able to get away for an evening and have the peace of mind that our son is in good hands. Thank you Channel Island Social Services. We appreciate everything you do and highly recommend you! read more

I have been employed with Channel Islands Social Services for over six years. I am very happy with CISS. I work with various families and I love providing care to their children. Seeing the happy smiling faces brings me joy. The best part of working with this company, is I get to go the the homes and I don't need to report in an office. I can also work with as many families as I can handle lol . I would highly recommend working for CISS. What other Company will pay you mileage to go to work? read more

I can't recommend this agency enough. They are personal and caring. The administration office has frequently checked in to see how our family is doing during the pandemic. The caregivers are experienced and loving. They do all they can to find a perfect fit for the client if you don't already have a caregiver. Additionally, they provide good communication which I didn't have with the other respite service. You can also tell they treat their employees well, which reflects on the care you receive. read more

Where do I start?! This agency has been a life saver for our family. We started with a different agency that was fine for about a month until I noticed the respite workers not really doing much. One guy even sat on the couch the entire time working on his computer! I finally found someone through Care.com and they were hired by this 'other' agency but I had to supplement their pay because $10 hr is just crazy, especially if they're good! When I found Channel Islands and read their reviews, found out they pay much more, I gave them a whirl. Wow! The difference is night and day. Everyone they've sent has been reliable, professional and caring. The staff at the office is always quick to reply and quick to help. I highly recommend CISS. read more

Channel Islands Social Services is unlike any company I have come across. They are an all around great organization who truly helps their clients and treats their staff with respect and kindness. Even during this pandemic, they have handled this time with such grace and caution. They are generously giving supplies to families. Also, caregivers are asked to practice social distancing (even when not working) to ensure safety to the clients, staff, and their families. As someone who is autoimmune, I truly appreciate the extra precautions they are requiring. read more

We have been with Channel Islands for 6 years and we are very satisfied with the respite providers they assigned to us. They try their very best to accomodate my the days and schedules of my kids and its awesome that they can deliver. I did encounter some respite providers that I felt uncomfortable with and the company was receptive to my concerns. Our first provider we had her for 2 years and the second one close to 3 they both moved out of state and we thought we might not be lucky the third time around but lo and behold we did! All these people really cared for my children . Thanks Channel Islands oh and the movie screenings every December, awesome! read more

This is THE best respite agency - period. As part of our services through Tri-County Regional Center, we were referred to CISS and could not be happier. I interviewed other respite agencies before making our choice. The respite workers are trained on a regular basis, and the staff at CISS took quality time to make sure that there was a good match between our son and the respite worker of their choosing, based on our needs and schedule. Once a respite worker was chosen, we had the opportunity to meet her to make sure that we felt comfortable with the worker chosen. This is the thing about CISS - they work to make sure that things work FOR YOU! You are definitely in good hands at CISS. read more

What can I say? This is a great organization. My four-year old, special needs son receives respite through CISS. We have always received professional and caring service from the office and from the respite care takers. We have had respite with CISS for over a year now. I can say first hand that they train and treat their respite care takers very well. I couldn't be happier with the service I receive and especially with the loving and thoughtful care my son receives during our respite ours. Thanks, CISS!!! read more

CISS has the most awesome and professional staff that really care about the kids they work with. When people ask me about respite in the Ventura County area CISS is the only place I would ever recommend. I am super impressed with this organization. read more

These are the "good guys" and I refer them to my mom friends all the time. As a mom to a child with special needs, I have had to deal with two other respite agencies in the past and CISS is far more professional and caring. They matched us with a fantastic respite caregiver 4 years ago and although she is no longer providing our respite, she is now a dear family friend. CISS also encourages families to recruit our own respite workers and I appreciate this option. They go above and beyond by hosting free family events as well. They are the best!!! read more

As a parent of a special needs boy, I have been a client of CISS for over eight. years. They do a fantastic job of pre screening their staff and finding a good match for their clients. They have always been attentive and listened to my concerns. I loved the service so much I became an employee a year ago in their Enhanced respite program. From both perspectives, CISS is a supportive and caring company. read more
