Wynnwood at Forsgate provided adequate care for my mother with Alzheimer's for about three years…read more Recently the care went down hill. My mom fell about a year ago an sufferers an intracranial bleed .even though I provided her with an alarm to let the night staff know if she got out of bed, she fell and laid on the floor for who knows how long before an aid responded to the alarm. The bleed resolved itself after hospitalization. She has been in hospital for urinary tract infractions at least twice in the past year which is a lot. We recently came to find that wynnwoods alzheimers unit was understaffed at night. My sister was staying late one night, at the request of Wynnwood, to watch over my mom ( who was fast asleep ) when multiple bed alarms went off and were attended to by no one other than my sister! One elderly man on unit then proceeded to hit the one aide in the unit with his shoe, again with no one to come to help other than my sister! What a mess. Wynnwood had recently been sending my mother to the ER for delirious behavior , which is common among Alzheimer's suffers. You would think that the dementia unit at any facility would be able to deal with these behaviors. Since Thursday my mom is in a different facility , and she has blossomed! The social worker at Princetons new hospital found placement for her at The Pavillions at Forrestal. Usually with Alzheimer's , a change in environment is a sure was to elicit a lot of confusion and "bad" behavior, but my mother settled right in. We are not sure what the extent of the problems at her old facility, butthey had a very detrimental effect on my mother.
