He is one of the best qualified and skilled dental professionals in Santa Fe. Although his practice is primarily limited to periodontal treatment, he is a highly skilled dental surgeon. I needed an emergency extraction of a back molar and my regular dentist was out of town and had arranged Dr. Melton as a backup. Melton did the extraction, which was difficult because the molar was partially impacted. It took him more than half an hour, and was completely successful and PAINLESS. His office staff have invariably been patient, polite and helpful, as has Dr. Melton himself.

This has to do with his support staff. Today I was notified BY TEXT that my hygienist was sick and they would have to reschedule my cleaning appointment. Fair enough. But this was the THIRD TIME in two years that this has happened to me. When I called to reschedule, the receptionist (I'll refrain from using her name) at the front desk told me they didn't have any appointments until July. This was the same party line as the previous two times where I bit my tongue and rescheduled four months down the line. But I suppose the third time is a charm. I questioned why if the cancellation was their fault they couldn't squeeze me in earlier. Again, the receptionist sounded like a parrot. "We don't have anything available until July." Again, I tried to convince her that this was on Milagro Dental. I made the appointment a year ago. I confirmed by text. I was ready to go. But THEY cancelled. Shouldn't they accommodate me? Still, the receptionist was holding firm. "We don't have anything available until July." Exasperated, I thanked her for her time and hung up. It's disconcerting that the corporate mentality of treating the client that a piece of dirt has invaded small town Sante Fe. But I suppose that won't impact this receptionist until AI takes over her position and she's out of a job. Time to find a new dentist.

The assistant who took the x-rays and other photos was perfunctory in her duties and didn't respond when I told her what she was doing was uncomfortable. Dr. Cera came in a gave me a quick exam and then I was told I had to go back out to reception to wait for a hygienist. My wait started at 35 minutes past my appointment time. I waited another 15 minutes and told them I had to leave for another appointment. So I went in for a cleaning and never got a cleaning. Worst of the worst.
