We were introduced to Eleanore's Friends through the VA. Read the story about Eleanore here:…read morehttp://www.eleanoresfriends.com/our-story. This company was named after the owner Keith Mallos' grandmother, who served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman in WWII. Eleanore witnessed first-hand the need for compassionate care and, most of all, a friendly smile. My story. My uncle, like a father to me, lost his wife in 2007 of heart disease. He was left with no family & no care. His health started to decline shortly after his wife passed. He always depended on me for everything all of his life. He didn't have children. Last year, he was put on hospice due to his stage 4 CHF and was given a 3 month life span. He fell a lot and his health was going down slowly. We had no caregivers or family to help. With the help of E.F, my uncle regained strength and graduated hospice after 10 months, and now doing so much better! It took us a while to find the "right" fit caregiver but we really do love her. We started off with some flakey caregivers, but eventually we found one that we are very happy with. E.F. has expanded from a year ago. I must say that I have seen a positive change since they have hired Jen, the scheduler. She is very good at getting back to you and very nice. Marcus was the first person I met. He was nice, but a little disorganized with getting back to you & scheduling (constructive criticism) It could of been due to the company being new at the time. I have never met Keith personally but have only talked to him over the phone. Always friendly and helpful. My mother said he was handsome & I just saw a pic of him for the first time. He resembles Ryan Seacrest! Although, I have never met most of the staff personally, I want to thank each and everyone of them for all of their help. Thank you E.F. for helping my uncle out when he was super weak and dying.. yes dying.... We were promised that he would gain strength and he certainly met his goals. If it weren't for your help, I don't know where we would all be today! Try them out, you won't be sorry. They work with the V.A. homemaker/home health aide program. It was his wishes not to go to board and care and to live at home as long as possible. We were able to do that with E.F. for him with extensive research and patience. We could have chose a few different companies but E.F. stood out. What is a Homemaker/ Home Health Aid? A Homemaker/Home Health Aide is a person who can help disabled and frail Veterans with personal care, such as grooming, and help Veterans manage certain tasks of daily living. Care is provided at VA expense by workers of private agencies with which VA Palo Alto Health Care System has formal agreements. Aides are not nurses, but they are supervised by registered nurses who will help to assess your needs. As with other home care programs, the goal of this program is to help Veterans live as independently as possible for as long as possible in their own homes. The aide can lend a hand with your activities of daily living. This includes help with tasks like: Eating Getting dressed Bathing Using the bathroom Moving from one place to another Medication reminders Meal preparation Light housekeeping chores Doing laundry Using the telephone http://www.paloalto.va.gov/hhhafaq.asp

Assisting Hands was highly recommended by my friend so I called Judy and scheduled a meeting. Her caregivers are attentive to the patient needs, compassionate and my friend is always happy to see them. As a result of their service, I have been able to take some time off without worry. I have been using their service for the past two years and am very grateful for my friend's recommendation.
