It's not just the first west coast outpost of famed Comedy Cellar -- it's the first location anywhere outside of NYC. Opened nearly seven years ago, the Vegas outpost has done a remarkable job matching the vibe of the West Village original. It looks nearly identical, but with some welcome upgrades: better acoustics, improved ventilation, and significantly more seating(#1). Instead of squeezing down a narrow basement staircase, one can take a relaxed stroll through The Rio's convention space and casino to get there. Upon entrance, folks familiar with the iconic NYC version will take delight in the brick walls, stained-glass signage, low ceilings, celebrity photo frames, and the cozy, underground feel. The lineup rotates regularly, but there's almost always a crowd forming prior to every show. Every performance features five headliner-level comics, and the quality is consistently solid--withthe occasional surprise guest appearance. There is a laugh focused, no-heckling policy, and phone use or talking during sets is strictly prohibited. Security does a decent job of enforcing this, thought it didn't entirely stop some audience chatter during my visit (#2). Service was efficient and not extremely pushy about enforcing any kind of a drink minimum. Drinks were understandably expensive, but I sipped my $8 bottle of Dasani like it was the last one on the planet. The $15 margarita was small'ish in which one would have to order a good amount to feel anything. (#3) The tickets are reasonably priced, typically ranging from $25 to $45 depending on the night. It's an adults-only venue and parking at the Rio is free. I feel the addition of the Comedy Cellar has injected new energy intot his off-Strip property and I can't wait to come back again. _____________ (#1) 300 seat capacity to be exact. That's awesome. (#2) The same kind of folks who will talk in a movie theater during a pivotal moment in the film. (#3) Perhaps that was the point all along.

Great show last night, especially Kathleen Dunbar! She was awesome. I think the scheduled lineup is mostly the same the rest of this week. Certainly worth catching a show!

What a great unique date night idea. Talent can always be hit or miss but we were lucky enough to share some tear inducing laughs the night we went. Our only gripe would have been the rundown Rio hotel the cellar is located in but the comics made up for it by clowning the hotel's decor.

Had a good time at the show here! All the acts did really well! I didn't know them prior to coming but I look forward to what they get into next! They were out of a few things on the menu but it wasn't big deal I just got something else. It's a very cozy spot and if you book VIP you're practically on the stage with them.

Literally one of the best comedy shows I've been to in Vegas. All of the comedians were HILARIOUS like on a continuum. There was no downtime between jokes. Went on a Sunday night and was honestly surprised how packed the audience was on a Sunday. Ambiance is a small quaint theater, with dim lighting and very cozy seating placements.

Located in the Rio, the Comedy Cellar is a great venue & great show! SO funny! Reasonable ticket prices and good service! For food, check out the many restaurants at the Rio!

We had a great time at the Comedy Cellar. We liked 2 of the 4 comedians, but that was OK, as not everyone's sense of humor is for everyone else. Our favorite was Chloe Hilliard. She was fantastic! We laughed so hard. The drinks were a decent price considering we were at an event. And the best part is that there was no drink minimum. The Rio (where the Comedy Cellar is located) is upsetting because nobody was in the casino! I don't know how they are making ends meet. I mean it was practically deserted. But again, the Comedy Cellar was fun.

If you ever take a trip to Vegas, bookmark this place and get tickets to a show. Of course there are always different acts every time but it seems like they always book really funny people. It is located at the Rio hotel and the place itself looks much older and semi run down but it's actually really nice and not too big. They have a bar before you go in so you can grab a drink or two. We sat vip so we were right in front of the stage. I'm always scared to sit in front because of getting in the spotlight. I had to use the bathroom so when I came back, I sure did get put in a joke lol! It was super funny and I had a ball. There were 4 acts and even the host was hilarious. It was Mark Cohen from Comedy Central and he was amazing. You won't be disappointed if you go.

We had a great time for my birthday tonight #vegaslocal

Very very funny comedians. I enjoyed the small crowd. The drinks were not nothing to smear at either.

I know funny and this ain't it! The worst "comedy show" I have seen since Louie Anderson (see…read morereview). Wow, we would have gotten up and left but were stuck in the middle of a row 15 chairs deep on each side, ugh. The seating is horrible, uncomfortable chairs crammed together in rows so that you are on top of each other and stuck once seated. This one woman that crossed over us twice obviously had a bladder problem or was bored out of her mind as well! Don't get drinks unless you just won a jackpot and could care less that a drink will run you $15-25. The comic line up does vary by week. Pretty much whoever will take the gig at that moment in time, mostly comics who don't work very often. On my night was a bunch of no names that I had never heard of. This night the theme was fat jokes. Don't waste your time or money.

Yes, there were supposed to be Playboy playmates (only ones I noticed were not very mobile in giant posters on the walls). Yes, the line of sights were not perfect if you arrived late and was seated all the way in the back. No, you are not normal if you went to ANY set here from the Cort McCown-curated mini-residences and found them unfunny. One particular show will always stick out in my head and it was one that coincided with a UFC event that was held in The Pearl. After a few of the regular openers performed, quite competently as always, some of the Deathsquad members started being surprise guesting, like Ari Shaffir, Joe Rogan (who went on for like a fucking hour!) and legendary Dom Irrera. Yes, the same Dom Irrera that is on the Comedy Central's top 100 stand-up comedians of ALL-TIME list. Uh, how the fuck can one be jaded after that experience? When I started reading in the RJ that Playboy Comedy was going away, I got pretty disappointed. Luckily, it was rebranded, quite abruptly and without much fanfair, to another property and seemingly the headliners started being heavier names that brought in more asses to the seats. Dom Irrera was brought in again to headline his own nights at Empire Comedy, where we went to see him again. Cort McCown is doing a great thing here with Playboy/Empire Comedy, and anyone who says otherwise cannot be trusted in regards to reviewing comedy because they probably will never like any stand-up, incl. but not limited to most of Absinthe, and yet are probably gigantic fans of 'The Cable Guy' Lenny or whatever-the-fuck his name is. - E Postscript. Like all Vegas shows that I have been to, there is no compulsory REQUIREMENT to buy drinks like you may find in other comedy clubs in the country, e.g. LA, Phoenix.

We unfort. arrived apx. 15 min.'s late after missing the turn into MGM then going to the wrong floor in the parking garage via the elevator & then fighting the EDC & CMA crowd. Brad was picking on one couple up front & an older big guy who was with his parent's. I can't even put what he said to them on here because it wasn't very nice. Lynne Koplitz was the comedian for the night and she started off really weird. I felt like she was really nervous and wasn't sure what jokes she wanted to tell, maybe not really prepared?? But as she got warmed up she got better. She was nice to the audience & wasn't "picking" on them like Brad did. Showroom was packed. Our cocktail waitress came over to us soon after we sat down. My friend got the Border Patrol speciality drink & it just tasted like a margarita. I got the "bitch" drink which was tasty but one was enough for me. We got to keep the plastic glasses. Bathrooms were clean & had some nice decor & magazine covers of Brad. Security & door staff was nice upon arrival to the venue. After the show my friend saw Brad outside talking to some people who attended his show & he asked me if I wanted to go over & get my picture with him. I walked over & had asked him for a photo...I think he was still mad @ me for arriving late to his show....SORRY BRAD!! I'd definitely come back to this venue.

Brads set was one of the worst I have ever heard. He had no original material. All his jokes were racially focused. Making fun that the Mexicans name was really Miguel, not Mike. And he should leave his leaf blower outside. And he wish he had a huge D like the black guy in the audience. Using these old outdated jokes for the primary format of his set was mind boggling. I can't believe people would pay for this. And the awkwardness of people having to laugh and smile thru it all is atrocious. Then the jokes about someone from Gaza blowing up the place. I truly hope no one targeted them after the show as BG mentioned him about a dozen times during his set. I have always adored the comedians at Kimmel and go there often. I won't be back to hear BGs shenanigans anytime soon, nor do I think Miguel or Jerrel the black guy will be either.

Some tips for first-timers to the theater: 1. Follow the signs for "The Mirage Theater." Aces of Comedy is in the back (like wayyy back of Mirage). It is pretty much a diagonal B line from the parking garage to the theater. 2. The entry process was a breeze. They scanned our electronic tickets and voila, you're in. All the employees were super nice and guided us right to our seats. 3. The theater is a good, intimate size. Stick with section 102 seats and you can't go wrong. The seats slope upward from the stage. We were in the orchestra section, EE 9 and 10, which was pretty dead center to the stage. To me, these seats were PERFECT and would be the seats I would want to get again! 4. The smell of movie theater popcorn will lure you! Fortunately, I practiced self-restraint as I knew I would be getting popcorn all up in the air as I laughed! Go to the Aces of Comedy and get your LAUGH ON!!! :)
