Check in is easy and pleasant. The person greeting you (host?) is knowledgeable about the processes, quick to answer questions, and seems to have the needed info available without any issues. While I have walked in when they're busy, they are excellent at warning you that if you don't have time to wait, you may want to swing by on a less busy day. I was VERY grateful for this info the last time I was in, adding my motorcycle endorsement to my license. It wasn't an urgent matter and their computers had been down off and on all morning, causing a bit slow-down. This isn't something they can control, but they took responsibility by warning folks that the wait times on the screen weren't terribly accurate and that the system can go down again and cause a freeze at any time. I chose to come back another day! I did come back, and this last Friday morning, I was in and out in less than 25 minutes!! Big thanks to the staff here that seems really great at their jobs, well-trained, and eager to help. None of the dismissive attitude that seems to be the stereotypical behavior of this type of worker.

The two specifics spots that I love going to are the Commissary and the PX or the Post Exchange. Items purchased in the PX are tax free. Yep, another benefit of working and/or living in the base. Just like any other city, there are McDonald's, Burger King, bowling alleys, homes, movie theatres, and banks. You would never notice who are soldiers because they are all in civilian attire. Maybe the person writing this review is a **censored**. All I can say is JBLM is a great place for both soldiers and citizens. Well, I can't say too much here, but I am glad to visit JBLM from time to time. The one thing you will notice at JBLM....No, not the military vehicles, but the view of Mt. Rainier. The USS Nebraska's keel was laid down in May 26, 1987 ; it was launched on August 15, 1992 and commissioned on July 10, 1993. The sub is home to 1 of two crews for a typical deterrent mission under the MAD strategy for an average of 77 days. Each crew consists of ~17 officers, ~15 petty officers and ~122 enlisted men. The USS Nebraska has completed 18 deterrent missions as of September of 2010. This is the second Navy Ship to honor the State of Nebraska. Duty rotation for the crew is 18 hours with 6 hours at the primary duty station, ~6 hours of other duties. However, officers, however, typically are on for 14 hours or longer. This is the routine for the entire tour of duty. Aside from 24 Trident Ballistic missiles complete with MIRVs (Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicles), the sub features 4 forward torpedo tubes. 4 of the 18 Ohio class submarines are designed SSGNs and are equipped with cruise missiles instead of Trident Missiles. The tour allowed us to see the silos and torpedo bay including the control rooms for each. We also the Mess, the Ward room, the Petty Officers room, the berths of various personal and the bathrooms. The Control center and sonar rooms as well as misc machine rooms were part of the tour. The only areas pretty much off-limits to the friends and families touring the Nebraska was the engine room, nuclear reactor room and sail. We were treated to lunch which was 2 star food with 5 star service. During deployment, the kitchen is active 24/7 and the lunch we were served seemed to reflect what was served on board Kudos to the men (and soon woman) who go on watch on this sub. It's been a while since I have had to renew my driver's license and as that amount of time has…read morepassed since my last renewal quite a few licensing offices have closed around Tacoma which makes the remaining ones considerably more challenging to navigate. What I mean by this is in reference to this specific location is that parking can be quite a challenge to this small parking lot for the visitor section and a line of people waiting is accumulates extremely fast and as a result the longer the line grows the slower it's going to be. So making an appointment is the way to go here. Definitely plan a considerable amount of time ahead to get to this location in case you make a wrong turn as well as waiting to find a parking place...because you are bound to have to sit in your car until a space opens up...but the best way to avoid all that in addition to the appointment is take the first time slots that are available when you make an appointment online. Depending on the day it's like 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. If you go with the earlier option that's the best because there are already a bunch of people sitting in the lobby ready to start the line. So key things here....1) make an appointment...2) take the earliest time slot (9 a.m. if you can) which will give you a greater likelihood of meeting your appointment and getting your car parked with relative ease. For those who made an appointment the line is much smaller upon opening and if you check in you will get a confirmation number in which it will be called upon. Once you go up to a representative for me at least the process itself was fast. They confirm your residential address, make sure height and weight are accurate, get your picture taken and if need be you take an eye exam...typical stuff as usual with the renewal process there. You get the choice if you want to renew your license for six or eight years. I went with the eight year option as our lives are busy enough and the longer we can have a license and reduce the frequency of the renewal licensing process the better. Once all the usual information and process was done...which was very smooth and efficient it took only about seven minutes for the renewal itself if you don't count the time of waiting for the doors to open to the department (it took an hour from start to finish from leaving home and getting back to home). Another aside at this office is if you are in for a wait and need the restroom you will need a code. Maybe you can get in if someone else enters the code but if not you will need to probably get it from the receptionist.

I was finally allowed in at 9:11 AM, checked in at the kiosk, and waited. At approximately 9:32 AM, my number (S196) was called. I explained that I had received a fully favorable decision for both SSI and SSDI and that my concern was specifically regarding my SSDI payment, which had not yet been received despite prior processing steps already being completed. The agent immediately defaulted to a scripted response, repeatedly stating that everything was "being processed," without listening to or acknowledging the specifics of my situation. I clarified multiple times that I had already completed my interview in February and had received SSI, but not SSDI. Instead of addressing the discrepancy, the agent continued to repeat the same generic response. I then requested to speak with a supervisor. I was told I could not, because she had already "answered my question." When I calmly asked again, she closed the window on me without providing her name or any assistance. Security then began pressuring me to leave. I stepped outside, contacted my attorney, and returned to formally request a supervisor. I was made to wait outside again--standing, in the cold--until approximately 10:52 AM before being allowed back in. After additional waiting, I was finally able to speak with a supervisor and file a formal grievance. I left the office at 11:19 AM. This experience reflects a serious lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic respect--especially toward individuals with disabilities who rely on these services. Requiring people to wait outside for extended periods, combined with dismissive and obstructive staff behavior, is unacceptable.
