However, I needed some simple x-rays of my teeth and either the x-ray holder was TOO BIG for my mouth or the "hygenist?" was placing them incorrectly and they wouldn't go in. I said, OW. YOU'RE HURTING ME. So she shoved harder and started fussing like a 2 year old. I said, STOP. THEY DON'T FIT. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. She stamped her feet, fussed like a baby and said, so you are refusing the procedure? NO, i said. IT DOESN'T FIT. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. She called in another staff member to complain that i was Un-Cooperative or something. This staff member did NOTHING USEFUL. Didn't even speak to me at all. 1st woman- then braced herself like she was pushing a bolder up a mountain and began SHOVING the appliance back into my mouth. It still didn't fit. I was in so much PAIN that i nearly jumped out of the chair. Almost to tears, the 1st highly trained and skilled "hygenist" finally brought in Dr. Cheung. I told him the appliance didn't fit in my mouth. Please do something different. He immediately told them to do the xray a different way. No problems. It was done in a moment. Professional. I DON'T BELIEVE that the xray film would not fit in my mouth with the application of even the slightest professionalism or patience or that ANY of the fussing and violence to my mouth associated with getting the x-ray was even necessary. Any person even remotely interested in actually getting the job done- would have accomplished this simple task with almost no trouble at all. This female hygenist and the staff in general are Stunningly Brave, absolutely Beautiful, perfect in Every Way and are obviously being oppressed. Please don't change a thing. As for me, i will wipe the blood out of my mouth and apologize for existing.

Solid Yelp reviews, super friendly when scheduling and I had no issues with my appointment. They even called and offered sooner dates when they were available. This was already a hundred times better than the few dental offices I worked with closer to home. Heck, before I even arrived I was already pleasantly surprised. Next, the office is absolutely beautiful. I loved the giant saltwater fish tank in the lobby and the jams they had playing were my favorite. I hadn't even opened my mouth yet and I was happy. My dental hygienist was super sweet, attentive, and informative. I especially liked how she walked me through my xrays tooth by tooth. I've never felt so informed. They had televisions to watch during cleanings but I opted for my favorite crime podcast and popped in my headphones. After my cleaning, we discussed my concerns and set a few plans in place to get what I want. My parents spent a lot of money on my smile when I was younger and I want to make sure to keep up with it. They frequently reschedule at the last minute due to staffing problems, then expect you to accept inconvenient time slots with no regard for your schedule. The final straw was today's interaction. After they changed my long-standing appointment, I accepted the replacement time and later realized I couldn't make it work and was told I'd be charged a $50 fee. They referenced a recorded call to justify that I had accepted the replacement time, then the office manager began listing times I had rescheduled over the past 15 years, none of which were last minute. Many of those changes were due to work travel, but that context was ignored entirely. I was then told I would have to prepay that fee to make any future appointments. The entire conversation felt like harassment, not customer service. This isn't new. I've experienced extended wait times during visits, and the front office staff have been rude before. I overlooked it because I believed in Dr. Shultz, but there is only so much disrespect you can tolerate. There are also concerns about quality of care. My mom had a crown replaced here that broke off within a week, leading to a tooth extraction, with no accountability from the office. I dismissed it for years because I personally had good experiences, but there is a noticeable difference between treating a younger patient and an older one. After today, I've already found a new practice and will not be returning. If you value your time, money, and being treated with respect, look elsewhere.

Hands down - the best practice out there!…read more Every visit is excellent. I just had a filling done and there were no needles - the local anesthesia was just right. No gratuitous numbing, just enough to make sure I felt nothing - within 45 mins I was back to normal as if I never went to the dentist at all! Dr. Gavin and her team are incredibly professional, competent and current. I like going to the dentist now! The office is beautiful with pretty champagne-gold colored chairs and a clean and cozy waiting room with free coffee and bottled water. They have a flat screen TV with Netflix that they can position in front of you while you're getting work done if you want. Dr. Gavin and Mary Kay get a special shout out for discovering I might have an obstructive sleep disorder and encouraging me to get tested. I listened to them and it turns out I do have a severe condition. I was losing up to 30% of necessary oxygen intake while I slept! I'm so grateful to them for discovering this and now I'm in such a much better place getting the oxygen I need. I drive 35 mins to get to there and back because I live downtown. I don't mind at all, they're totally worth it!! **Their office is in the Mount Carmel Health Center in Lewis Center - a state of the art wellness center that has a restaurant, gym and other facilities.
