Surviving a huge rapid with some massive waves.
Josh H.

Are you in the Portland area? Or somewhere in Washington and you want an adventure? If so - don't be stupid!!! Schedule a river trip and enjoy some amazing rapids and beautiful scenery as you take a wild float down the Salmon river. Our guide was Victor and he was amazing. He nailed every rapids giving us the best adrenaline seeking advenruee we wanted. Our family vacation was complete because of this trip! A few things to know: - the water is cold, but they give you a wetsuit and it helps a ton! - you will paddle! and that makes it more fun - if you want a less adventurous trip - tell the guide and they can avoid big rapids. - usually i dont encourage my son to jump off of bridges but he did and it was awesome - they have a photographer situated at different spots on the river and you can buy the pics for an extra fee. It isnt that expensive and they do a great job! - tip your guide.

We rafted with Columbia River Outdoors for Father's Day and we had a great experience. The guides, Sean and Max were friendly and knowledgeable. They provided helmets, wetsuits, booties, splash jackets and life jackets. They provide transportation from the take out to the put in their bus(which has AC). Both guides went through a thorough safety talk before we even got on the river. Max and Sean have years of experience running the White Salmon river and love sharing their knowledge of the white water, the history of the river and all the wildlife that inhabit the area. They put safety above everything and love sharing their enjoyment of white water rafting with everyone who comes down the river. You can purchase t-shirts, hats, and photos after your river run. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for a white water expedition.

But from the moment I arrived, everyone made me feel so comfortable and welcome that those nerves disappeared immediately. Our guide, Peter, was absolutely amazing. He was extremely thorough with safety instructions and made sure everyone felt safe and confident throughout the trip, while still keeping everything fun and exciting. He had such a great way with people and really helped make the experience memorable. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and even the owner took the time to be kind and personable, which made the whole experience even better. You can tell they genuinely care about giving people a great experience. This trip made me want to come back before it was even over, and I'll definitely be returning this summer to hopefully try one of the more challenging rafting trips. Thank you all so much for giving me such a fun and unforgettable Mother's Day!

I'm already mentally planning the next time I can raft with this company! Scott, the owner, is the friendliest person and makes you feel like part of the "rafting family" with his jokes and genuine care for each person in the party. Our raft guide, Jay, was 10/10 and made my entire trip unforgettable with all his knowledge of the Columbia Gorge and ability to create special experiences for our raft. If you want a company who believes in fun, adventure, and a great time -- this is the rafting company for you!

Disappointing and Astonishingly Unprofessional…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. I purchased a Groupon to go rafting with Portland Rafting, but when the booking directions on their website failed to accept the code, I called their customer service for assistance. What should have been a quick, exciting booking call turned into one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've ever had. I was unfortunately met by someone named Scott, who claimed to be the owner. Given his unbelievable lack of professionalism, I find that hard to believe. From the second he answered, Scott made it abundantly clear that my call was an inconvenience to him. He was dismissive, uninterested in helping, and outright rude. When I calmly called him out on his attitude, instead of offering a standard professional response, he showered me with childish excuses: "Oh, well, it's just a busy morning" and "Oh, well, dude, it's not that big of a deal." Continually calling a paying customer "dude" and telling me to "chill out" is completely unacceptable. When I attempted to address the situation like an adult and requested a genuine apology for how I was being treated, he refused to take accountability. His actual response? "Not going to do that." It is disgusting to treat customers this way. If you are frustrated by honorably fulfilling Groupon vouchers, don't list your business on Groupon in the first place. More importantly, someone who lacks the basic maturity to handle a simple phone call should absolutely not be trusted with people's safety on the water. Save yourself the headache. There are plenty of reputable rafting companies in the area--take your business to literally anyone else.

I was very nervous, as I'm a wimp and haven't rafted in about 15 years. They outfitted us in helmets, wetsuits, and booties. Mike J (MJ) was our guide, and one of the other employees told us we got their best guide. Mike was extremely patient and explained everything in detail. He showed us how to stay in sync and how to go down the Class V waterfall, Husum Falls. Larry in the kayak followed behind us to save us in case we fell out. Luckily, we didn't, thanks to our awesome guide. The waterfall is optional, and they gave us a lot of prep for it (there's a special stance for going down). We even got out of the raft and went up on a bridge so we could watch kayak Larry go down the falls. Mike told us it's the only rapid of its kind in North America. We had to go down; I couldn't miss out! We went down, no one went overboard, although two of us hit our heads on something. Still worth it. The trip was totally exhilarating for the first half, and calm nature-watching for the last portion. The waterfall marked the half point. During the first half, Mike was all business trying to prevent us from dying. We could relax a bit more during the second half, and he gave us some history about the area and pointed out the wildlife. It was hilarious when the visiting Canadian geese kept honking and flying away from us. The beautiful scenery surrounding us as we rafted down the river made it a perfect day. I definitely recommend All Adventures Rafting. The trip wasn't too scary once we got going, and the cold water felt great on the hot day. The staff is friendly, laid-back, and knowledgeable. They seemed like cool people, and worked hard to give us a safe and enjoyable adventure.

The guides (Kaela, Laurie, Dustin, Mike and Nate) worked like dogs to make the trip safe, fun for kids and relaxing for the adults. There was coffee ready every morning. Delicious breakfast. Yummy lunch. Great dinners with plenty of beer, wine and sodas. Laurie, our "Food Dude," was even kind enough to bring along Pringles as a special request/treat for the kids. We ended up asking Echo to supply our tents and sleeping bags. I read the earlier review about a sandy tent, but ours were clean and in good condition. It made the trip all the more relaxing for our family to not have to worry about packing our camping gear. We just threw our clothes in a bag and were ready to hit the water. As an aside, my husband is a seasoned drift boater/rafter who has been on the Rogue (and many other rivers) on his own many times. He was hesitant about going on a guided trip, but was pressured into it by me - a mom who wanted some down time from cooking, prepping, etc. His one complaint was that he couldn't drink beer while on the river. Of course, this is a safety issue, so he gets it overall and enjoyed his time otherwise. I think it is a testament to the entire Echo team that he ended up having a great time and would love to travel with them again. If you are looking to take a trip on the Rogue (or Salmon!) River, I highly recommend that you consider Echo.
