I am so grateful to have found Color Theory! Bo helped me from the start. I had gotten creative and put some box semi permanent dye in my hair, that actually permanently dyed my hair. Not what I was going for :( Completely the wrong color. I tried growing it out, putting over the counter correction on it and finally lightening it myself. It was bad, and a huge PROJECT, that not anyone could fix! It should have taken multiple visits. I recently visited Colour Theory for a gloss. My hair had previously been done at another salon where the girl highlighted my brown hair, making orange highlights instead of a cool blonde color. I was so upset. My stylist, Bo, at Colour Theory, took the time to listen to what I wanted. She even explained that if you don't know how to lighten brown hair correctly, it will pull orange/ red. I was recommended to TINA by another person. I carried the notes that I was given from my other stylist, and she carefully discussed what she would do, what she reccomend that I plan for each session and what would be good for my hair. So I see TINA every 5 weeks, and we work together what is good plan for that session. I have purple in back and sides that was done before and TINA added the top of hair and we've been maintaining that each appointment. She takes notes on what she does and advises me not to Bleach each time to preserve my hair. So the pics I share are from today session. Used a Groupon the first time I went to see Lisa. It was for color and full highlights. I ended up with partial ones which was not what I really wanted but the color was fine. I also asked for my hair to be layered. Apparently I was not very clear because my layers started about an inch above the longest length of my hair, in my book that's not layers. Made a second appointment for touch up and a trim 8 weeks later. My roots do not even come close to the color of the rest if my hair. I'm hoping after a few washes it will fade a bit and blend better. I asked again for my hair to be layered and once again it was not. All of this ended up being $80!!! I could have gotten a better cut at Great Clips, and have. I will not be going here again! read more

I asked her to trim my hair she didn't chop it all off she did a fabulous job and I asked her to do my highlights usually people cannot get me as blonde as I am and she did I would definitely recommend her! I have had lots of good hair cuts in the past where I left the salon feeling great about how my hair looked, but I really couldn't make it look the same way on a daily basis. Genevieve showed me a new way of doing my hair that worked with my particular hair texture (sort of curly, sort of straight, with a lot of frizz). I was sad to found out my girlfriends hairstylist Sone was no longer working at Urban Colorz. They were nice enough to give me her cell phone number and I was able to track her down. She now works at Colour Theory and we had another great experience with her. Sone was so happy to hear from me and be able to cut my girlfriends hair again. She's so nice to talk to and treats you like family. This time my girlfriend went for a cut and full color. Her hair turned out perfect and I'm convinced she should just keep getting it done here and no longer dye it at home. It came out very natural looking and exactly the color she wanted. Sone gave us a very detail overview of what she was going to do and exactly how the color would turn out. She used a very gentle bleach and even did a hair gloss treatment for free. The whole process only took 2 hours from start to finish, which to me seemed really fast. I'm already referring others to see Sone after they saw my girlfriends finished hair. read more

Got a Groupon for full highlights, cut and style with Lisa. I showed her a pic of what I wanted several times and left with a few highlightsand and it curled like an old lady when the pic was clearly beach waves. She seemed to act like she understood what I wanted but proceeded to do something completely different. She curled my hair with a straightener in about 2 minutes (I have really thick hair) then said it would later turn into the beach waves that I wanted. So not worth the money! Don't bother telling her what you want since she'll do the very minimum of whatever she chooses. read more

Lisa always washes straightens and cuts my hair!! First I have right natural curl and it can be very difficult to cut and style so I am very leary of who cuts my hair & styles my hair. I purchased a Groupon from Lisa, for partial highlights, cut and style. I came in showing her a pic of what I wanted and expressed that I wanted Lighter highlights than what I already have. She didn't think she could pull a darker blonde off (that should of been a telling sign not to let this lady proceed), so I said asked for a very light brown color. She applied the color and after rinsing she said you can't really see the highlights "the lighting is bad" I couldn't notice any color... I should of said something at that point, but I figured I'd notice after my hair was dry. I showed her another pic of how I wanted my bangs cut and I specified I wanted them thicker so my bangs did not split, this was not satisfied she did a horrible job and my bangs are different lengths and are not thicker... Then she "straightened my hair" by running a flat iron half way down my hair, not starting at the roots! My hair was a mess, bangs flipped out all weird. I could not wait to get home and flat iron my hair. I would never go back to Lisa she claims to have all this experience which could be true, but she is over confident in her abilities and proved she cannot provide customer satisfaction from start to finish at all. Save you money, time and your poor hair if you are needing or wanting more then just a wash and blow dry. It is a cute salon, but save your money and time and see someone other then Lisa. read more

Sone ruined my hair. Worse than anyone ever has in my life. It was my first and last experience with her. I told her to touch up the roots, I had blond and brown hi lights on shoulder length hair and showed her a picture of what I wanted. She laughed and told me she would just use the bleach and weave in with my own grown out hair. I should have run out of there. Then she dumped drippy bleach (no brown) all over my already bleached hair. She did weave a bit in foils, not many. Not just the roots she bleached but the whole head of hair. Then she had no time to rinse or style the hair since she was too busy talking and laughing (constantly) about how great she is as a stylist that people come from far away to get her hair styles and color. She is very like able and talkative and religious so I ignored the bleach and peroxide dripping down my face, she ignored it too. I am sure it was on wayy tooo long and was wayyy too strong. She rinsed my hair quickly and sent me out with dripping wet (not damp) hair. I had to be somewhere in the public after that but since my hair was not styled at all and was in fact drippy and wet, I had to cancel that appointment. The worst thing is the hair was so damaged I was unable to style it with any hot tools. even now I cannot use hot tools. It kept breaking off and falling out. The scalp was irritated from the chemicals and after 6 months I am still getting scabs. The " color" was horrendous ( she only used bleach no other color and called it hi lighting) but unfortunately I could not go get the "color" corrected and I had to let it grow out 4 inches at least because the overly bleached hair had been stripped of it's color pigment and texture and would not take (hold) new corrective color. I contacted Sone a week after this disaster and she had me come in and quickly mixed some toner with Olaplex to try and even out the color somewhat. Sone then told me to go get Olaplex and use it and it would heal my hair. I bought the expensive Olaplex and it did nothing for the damaged hair though I used it as directed. I paid $140 to Sone to have this hair ruined completely. I would gladly have paid $500 to someone to save me from going to Sone at all. (She was recommended on social media). But there is no supervisor at Color Theory to complain to since they are independent and are "their own boss". I was so upset it took me months to even write this. Never never again. read more
