Money. pay bills. business success. Please, don't interrupt while someone is speaking with. a customer unless someone's hair is on fire. Besides, it's more likely that an error in transaction will occur while you are yakking. (And it did). Lighting cast shadows on my hair during cut which I did not like. could be the difference between a good cut or not. Lived the idea of scalp, and shoulders massage, and have had The Aveda product in my hair for over a decade. Never got a shoulder "massage" on top of the plastic cape. Kinda "Dexter gone nice" creepy feeling. Freaking convenient as he'll. Should not give then 5 stars, but it's for Katherine's listening, and Becky's attempt to listen. I went to Salon Fuss to start my process of going lighter with photos for inspiration and an open mind, given my hair has had permanent 3n (professional color) on it for two years. The stylist seemed super nice during my appointment and even said she wouldn't be offended if I called to say it wasn't what I hoped it would be. When she started drying my hair, she suggested (because it was so dark) that I use Dawn dish soap to strip the toner out. Please never do this to your hair to get it lighter friends. However, when I called asking for a refund because I paid over $300 for my hair to look pretty much the same, it took a few times of reaching out before the owner got back to me. She wanted me to come in so that she could see what her stylist had done to my hair, which is understandable given that I could be lying about it. I am not a confrontational person and wouldn't even be posting this if I hadn't learned that the stylist lied about what I said I did to my hair. Going in to show someone's manager that they messed up my hair is terrifying for me as someone with severe anxiety. I'd had a bad experience when I first moved here of someone making fun of my hair and accusing me of using henna on it because it was hard to lighten. I know it's a long process to lighten. I had hoped with a two month wait and great reviews on Google that this place would have the experience to handle lightening dark hair. My stylist and I had a consultation right before she started working on my hair. She knew that I had put 3n color on my hair. I spent around 5 hours with her, so during that time we had a lot to talk about. I thanked her for being so nice because the last stylist wasn't kind to me. I shared what he had said to me about using henna on my hair, and how it made me feel embarrassed to be accused of putting a product on my hair I'd never heard of prior and certainly never used. This was partially why I waited a few years to find a stylist, because I was under the impression they were all going to be mean to me. When the owner called me back to discuss options for my hair and I wasn't willing to come in to let her see it (I had made an appointment elsewhere already to get it corrected and felt uneasy going back there) she mentioned the stylist told her I used henna on my hair. I could not believe those words came out of her mouth. Jaw on the floor. The entire time she was trying to get me to come in so she could see my hair, she was under the impression that I had used henna on it. That is actually SO embarrassing. Her twisting this humiliating story that I experienced years ago to say that's what I used on my hair (likely as a way to get her off the hook and blame it on me) is actually the worst part of this whole thing for me. After the call with the owner, I started crying because what I had hoped would be a great experience at my new go-to salon turned into a nightmare. I was able to get a refund for my cut that turned out to be noticeably uneven. Overall, I will say my stylist was nice during the appointment but I am really hurt to know I misjudged someone's character so severely and trusted the wrong person with my hair. I came in this afternoon for a color consult. It was clear to me after meeting you that you are a knowlegable and respected stylist. I appreciated your passion and expertise. However, I find I need to pass along some feedback to you about the things you said in our brief appointment. I share this only for context: I've just been discharged from an earing disorder treatment facility. I've been in treatment now for close to four months. Body dysmorphia and body shame are a big part of my daily experience. I have just stepped down to a lower level of care and have been able to go back home to my partner. I've saved my Christmas money to come and see you. I did a lot of research beforehand and found you to be a reputable stylist. I scheduled an appointment because I know my hair is a hot mess, I know it looks terrible. I came into the salon today in the hopes that the experience would help me to feel better about myself. I am working very hard to get back out in the world and take up space and stop letting a culture of fat phobia and body oppression dictate how I live my life. Today's interaction with you has me feeling pretty awful. Some of the comments you made to me about my hair: "It's like you have two hair cuts." "Whomever did your hair before did you a great disservice." "You basically have a mullet." "The whole back of your head is breakage." "Your hair is see through in back, it's got huge gaps." "You can grow it out, but you have to cut this all off and start over. I wouldn't want you going around town telling people I'm doing your hair." I am very familiar with Aveda products and salon philosophy. I worked at a corporate Aveda store for three years back when I was in college, and there was still a corporate store/salon in Portland. It's the reason I chose to see an Aveda master stylist. Frankly, you should be ashamed of the way you talked to me. You could have been kind and compassionate and instead you were disrespectful and callous. You might give the best hair cuts in the world, but treating people like shit and assuming they're ignorant about hair care doesn't feel worth it to me. So I've been getting Vomor hair extensions for about 5-6 years now. I recently moved here from another state so obviously I couldn't see my regular stylist. I purchased new vomor hair which was around $650 for three boxes. The first girl who put them in didn't know what she was doing and put them so high you could see the tracks. The offered me to come in and have them moved around for better placement. For this I saw the manager who also was not good at extensions as her placement was also so bad that the hair did not blend. She said she could make it blend but it would require using a type of shears that would basically ruin the top layer of my hair...so she butchered the top layer of my hair and also used this all over on the extensions. The $650 hair that is less than a month old is disgusting. I've used the same hair for over a year and it was never in as bad amid shape as the hair is that I have in now. Again they offered me to come have it fixed.::I came in again and needless to say the girl who I saw next did make it look better and helped blend it...however the hair is still ruined. They did such a bad job that I have to curl the hair every day in order to wear it out. I can't braid it, wear it in a pony tail or wear it straight. These I've always been able to do before and never had any issues. DO NOT GO HERE FOR EXTENSIONS unless you want to waste half a months rent on hair their going to ruin. If I want extensions for longer than a month or two I'm going to have to re purchase hair all over again which I shouldn't have to do. - after I posted this review the salon manager called and was so rude. Her response is ridiculous. I'm posting a picture of what my hair looks like now since I finally found another stylist who knows what their doing. This stylist has been doing extensions for over a decade and agreed on how badly the previous salon installed the extension. Thank his she was able to fix it. My short bob had nothing to with how the hair looks. I also have paid for services and have plenty of receipts to show that. I paid $650 for the hair then paid a $140 service charge - tipped the original stylist $50 tipped Becky the manager $100 and tipped the third stylist $40 - I also bought $45 in product. Happy to prove that with receipts. You can see the managers response is out of being upset. I've had extensions for years and this was the first place that has ever done such a poor job. Had an appointment on the 31st of December done via Yelp messenger I am not from the area so I took an Uber and we arrived 10 minutes behind. I email the person who seems to be the owner that I was in my way, upon arrival I sense negativity with no welcoming salutation but a I'm sorry we cannot take you in" even after explaining that I was messaging back and forth with someone, they said they don't get those messages and that it was the owner who I was texting with. That they had no idea that i be coming. It wasn't so much the confusion but the tone and missing customer service that really made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. If you have dark hair and want an ashy blonde balayage look elsewhere. There is something about their products that will not allow them to lift you to anything other than a brassy orange. Warm tones are OK if it at least looked good but... it didn't. It looked bad. I spent so much money and time and had higher expectations than the results I received. If they are not able to lift brunettes using their products, they need to let clients know in advance. This ended up being a pretty costly experiment... I got mine done here and it's taken 3 sessions with another stylist to get my hair to not look trashy and orange. Five hundred + dollars later and I finally look normal. Everything else here is great. I have had a good experience getting my hair cut and styled and they can typically fit folks in with pretty short notice. Just go elsewhere if you want any drastic color changes and have dark brown hair. If you want ashy blonde ANYTHING done to your hair look up Bella U salon. Trust me! read more

Pictured will be my inspo pic I showed her, My hair before, and my hair after. -I asked Becky "Slightly shorter than this picture, NO BRASSY TONES(if we had to be violet or blue I would be happy) goal is to get closer to ashy silver tones and keep roots DARK- After the cut I wanted to cry, it was so much shorter than I had asked. I trusted that the color would be on point so it would make up for my now lack of hair, unfortunately I was wrong. In the picture you can see I got all the tones I did not want.. I was in tears in the chair and felt terrible for not being able to control my little emotions. I paid $70 for the cut, she did let me not have to pay for the color. If I was to see a different stylist at her salon I was to PAY for the color correction I asked if I could get my money back (apologizing for even asking while I ask) for the cut so I could use the money towards my color correction that I was going to have to get done at a different salon.. her response almost sent me back into tears as I already felt terrible for even having to explain my dissatisfaction "My time means nothing to you?" -Becky Harlow As a sufferer of Extreme Fibromyalgia this broke my heart, I had sat in a chair in immense pain for 4 hours in hopes to get just NEAR my hair goals and I had been given every aspect of a hair cut and color that I had so precisely told Becky I did not want.. In fact we were even joking the whole time about how bronze brassy tones look terrible on my(our, she seems to have the same tone I do) skin tone. All in all I had high hopes, and way very much so let down in the service and then in how owner Becky went about handling the aftermath of her mistakes Good news I ran to MHCC to consult with a color theory teacher on what Becky did to my hair ( Becky had no idea how my hair turned out the way it did with the products she used, I GOT THE FULL INFO ON ALL DYES AND TONERS SHE USED FROM HER) the teacher explained it made perfect sense why my hair turned orange and green (Becky tried to tell me my hair must have medications in it) and I found the HAIR GODDESS that fixed my terribly orange skull!! I hope this helps anyone and everyone avoid a massive hair mistake Just causes it says Master Stylist DOES NOT MEAN they can master your hair. read more

Just moved to Happy Valley and I was a little nervous about trusting someone new to do my cut and color. I went to Tregan and had a great experience. I showed him the color formula that my former hairdresser gave me and he did a great job on my color. I was very pleased with my haircut too, I asked him to stay close to the style I already had and he did a great job. The salon is very nice, everything new and stylish. The shampoo bowls are very comfortable, not a strain on the neck like so many places and Tregan does a wonderful shampoo and head massage. I highly recommend Salon Fuss and Tregan. read more

I had my hair cut twice at Salon Fuss by Nikki. The first cut was too short but I could manage it And it was cute. At that Appt. we discussed possible hair color, but since I didn't want semi permanent, I declined. I went back for a 2nd cut and had a photo of what I wanted. Nikki saw the photo and knew I wanted my hair longer on,top, esp. at the crown. This cut was awful. Not only is it about 2-3" on top, the rest of the cut is awful too. The first time she listened, then cut the way she wanted. The 2nd time, she completely ignored what I wanted. Not only is it way too short, the rest of the layers look awful also. I can't help but wonder if she was mad about my not taking her color suggestion, then consciously or subconsciously, took out her anger on my hair. Maybe she was having a bad day, but I am paying for it. I wear a hat most days while waiting for my hair to grow. read more

Now, it takes a lot for a salon to stand out to me. Either I like my cut or I don't. That being said, I really liked Salon Fuss. I was able to get a same day appointment. Upon walking in, the establishment was clean, nice smelling and the young man at the desk was very nice and had a welcoming smile. My stylist, Tregan, was wonderful! I showed him a couple pics I had in mind. He explained what would work and what wouldn't. He was so great and made me feel so inspired with my cut! Not customer friendly AT ALL. The two at the front desk (one being my stylist) thought it was more important to "chat" than greet a customer. My stylist was inexperienced and took forever (she couldn't seem to figure out how much color to mix and had to stop to "get more" four/five times)?! End result: My hair sucks. It looks NOTHING like the color and cut we discussed in the my picture. $250 and 4 hours later waste of time and money. read more

5 stars for Kendall for customer service! I had an appointment that left me very unhappy; I showed the stylist a few pictures of the blond I was trying to achieve which isn't hard. My former hairstylist who retired during quarantine, gave me the perfect color every time and as a natural blond I wasn't asking for anything terribly difficult. I repeated several times to the stylist that toner turns my hair gray. She continued to use toner and I left the salon with gray hair. Between the gray and the dark lowlights it was just a mess. The stylist herself is a lovely girl, very fun to speak with and a great personality. She just isn't a good stylist for my hair. I called to seek help as to what I can do at home (I didn't expect them to redo my hair) and Kendall gave me great advice, was incredibly kind and apologetic and did schedule me to come in to have the toner removed. I was prepared to find a new salon but after such kindness and customer service I'll continue to go there in hopes a different stylist can get me back to a happy blond:( read more
