I heard about Trestle from many friends and how great it was. My first reason for recommendation is that it offers a lot of terrain; nearby bike park Granby Ranch only has 24 trails and one lift, while Trestle offers 63 trails and 3 lifts. My second reason is convenience to Denver; it's only one hour and thirty-two minutes away. Making it perfect for day trips, another benefit is that it is well before Idaho Springs (a town notorious for traffic). My final reason for recommending this experience is its superiority to the other popular bike park, Breckenridge. From my experience, I found it to be crowded due to the excessive amount of tourists and other mountain activities. Another critical issue with Breckenridge is that the lifts all start at the base, meaning that you are forced to battle the crowds at the base every time you wish to go up. As Trestle has two lifts on the mountain. I would recommend this experience to a novice biker with experience mountain biking beforehand. Due to the amount of advance trails. Some things to know are that the opening dates can vary for the season.The location is Winter Park resort. The ticket price is $70 USD. Season passes are offered. You should buy one if you are going for more than one week.I would not go on a holiday weekend due to heavy I-70 traffic.

We chose this trail because its only about 2.8mi to do the Mesa Rim Loop trail v the Cherry Creek Trail to the loop (about 6 mi). This hike is very exposed to the elements so come prepared (hat, water, sunglasses, layers in non-summer). There are lots of prairie dogs along the trail, but that also means rattlesnakes and coyotes, so please keep your dog on leash despite the wide open temptation to let them run free. There are also many cyclists on the trail. The trail is well-marked with great views of the mountains and is easy enough for young kids, too.

Our family and friends had another fun ride down the Vail Pass. Alpine Sports got us fitted with…read morehelmets and bicycles. We watched a safety video, signed a waiver, paid, then loaded up in the shuttles for a ride to the Vail Pass starting point. The first mile or so of the ride are switchbacks, so go slowly. Then coast on the straightaway to Copper Mountain. Get a chair to view the ski area. Restaurants and coffee shops are around, plus restrooms. Then ride into Fresco. Be sure to stop at the free museum with the log buildings. So fun! Mornings are cool, so wear long sleeves or a jacket. Jeans or leggings or on warmer days, shorts are fine. Afternoon rides can get rained on. The team at Alpine Sports are helpful and friendly. We recognize their faces after riding for many years. If you do one activity other than hiking, make this ride a must. Reserve your bikes online and get a discount!

This experience was a lot of fun. There are five ziplines, but you do one of them twice, so in all…read moreyou get six zips. The guides were fantastic. They were helpful, funny, and told great stories. They made everyone feel secure. At one point, you have to do a little bit of serious hiking to get to one of the lines. The elevation affects people differently and decent hiking shoes isn't a bad idea. You are basically ziplining in a gorgeous forest. The views are incredible. We saw deer and we heard that sometimes you can see moose (meese? mooses?). There is one negative: I have done ziplines in many places and this outfit was the only one which "requires" you to bring water. Most people end up buying this bag of cold water and a carabiner for 4 bucks when you check in. You can bring your own water bottle but who wants to zip with a giant water bottle strapped to you? They even had a jug of water available at one or more of the stops. Call it like it is: this is just a way for them to get another 4 bucks from each customer. Also, the website suggests you should not bring your phone. In fact, you can bring your phone but it is obviously your responsibility if you lose or damage it. (One person who ziplined with us actually did drop his phone, accidentally, while ziplining, but one of the awesome guides found it. Two miracles occurred that day: one, the guide found the phone in a forest and, two, the phone was barely scratched.) I wish I had brought my phone because the views were awesome. If you like, you can have some craft beer afterward in the little brewery connected to the zipline spot. We had other plans but the sharp-looking brewery looked very inviting. Highly recommended. This was a lot of fun and I would definitely do it again.

This park is loaded with trails for hiking,running, horseback riding, cycling and access to climbing. Campsites are embedded in the park, dense trail system around a former historic farm. There is an interpretive center and plenty of parking at multiple lots. Free access if you paid for the CO Parks pass on your vehicle license renewal.

We parked at the Dayton station rtd parking lot which seems to be closer for toddlers to make it over to the park compared to the other parking lot. I had great fun as a beginner mountain biker and the kids on their strider as well as my almost 5-year-old had a ton of fun. It got hot fast so I would definitely recommend bringing water and maybe snacks.
