Oh, Daniels Park, how I love thee - Having realized this park was so close to home, we opted to head out for a morning walk. It really is the perfect place for anyone looking to experience: ++ A picnic breakfast! We loaded up our basket with egg cups, fried bacon, fresh cut peaches and biscuits and stumbled upon a secluded spot just before the overlook - while the overlook area features a pavilion with picnic tables! The gravel trail led to a quaint place, perfectly situated rocks for sitting with one hell of a view. ++ The best views! Literally, overlooking the entire valley, spanning from Roxborough Park to the Flatirons - even catching a glimpse of Devils Tower in the distance! The skies were perfectly clear, gorgeous in color and made for the perfect backdrop to our picnic! ++ A cheap date! FREE entry to the road that winds through Highlands Ranch, ending in Sedalia, making a cheap and outdoorsy date! ++ A quiet and peaceful place! While some trails were busy some runners and bikers, the park itself was relatively vacant. It could have been the early morning hour, or simply that this park is a suburban hidden gem. ++ An engagement! An intimate setting with best view makes for a romantic spot! Due to the reasons above and the fact this park is so close to my house, I can't wait to return for some fall and winter views!

I can't believe this wonderful park and magnificent views are so close and I've never been here before. Today we just happened upon Daniels Park while out exploring the area and I will definitely be back soon! We could see downtown Denver and from Longs Peak to Pikes Peak. Very similar to views from parks in Highlands Ranch and Lone Tree but without the houses to the west. Makes for great pictures (as long as you're not behind the fences - see last paragraph). There is a nice picnic pavilion with tables and a grill. There are also some nice overlooks to stop and take those great pictures. I didn't see many trails - just alongside the road. I checked the AllTrails map to see if I had missed them and it doesn't show any that I could find. My only complaint about this park echoes what I've read in some other reviews - the fences are hideous. Seriously, they look like they belong surrounding a prison instead of a park. I hope they are temporary but from what I've read they don't seem to be. The City of Denver needs to rethink them.

Amazing views! Get place to picnic with the family. Not much hiking here. Go further to the north in the dirt road and you will come across more hikes/trails. Daniels park is worth the stop to take a picture on the way to your hike.

Daniels Park is unlike any other Denver park. I happen to live about a mile from here and love to visit for sunsets! Absolutely beautiful!

These are the best views of Denver and its surrounds--all elevated, looking across the valley--truly awesome.

You may have to hike some paths to see some views but all in all, it's a great and easy hike. I hate visiting nature places without my dog which is why I put it off for so long. While I wish I could visit with my dog, I understand (would love to just push him in his stroller) We went on Black Friday so everyone was out and there was a bit of wait. If you can or you have the pass, def go some other time.

With its close proximity to Denver, it does the job when you're itching for a good walk. During the winter, I'm on the hunt for nearby spots to sneak in a quick hike. And as we all know in winter around here, there are plenty of sunny days where this is possible. Though having been here in the summer when the plants and flowers are in full bloom, I suggest making a trip then! This week's brief hike was the classic Fountain Valley Loop. Around 3 miles with only a few hundred feet in elevation, this is an accessible trail for most people. If you're lucky, you'll see mule deer chowing on grass and minding their own business. I love red rock formations, so coming here is enjoyable for me. Especially seeing the jagged ones that look like right triangles. Any geometry fans out there??? These are beautiful to look out, though kept at a distance, which to me is the con of this park. You can't get as up close and personal as you can at Garden of the Gods or Arches NP. Still, Roxborough is an underrated state park that many people neglect. Pay them a visit and enjoy the peace and quiet.
