We experienced the Yuma Art Center two times in January when James Garner's Tribute to Johnny Cash…read moreperformed and when the Guns & Roses Tribute Band performed. It was our second time (1st time was in Las Vegas) seeing James Garner perform & they truly do not disappoint. Excellent history lesson accompanied the amazing vocals. The Guns & Roses was also good not great but ok. The Yuma Art Center was a perfect setting for the shows with comfortable seats, great acoustics & bar service. Looking forward to seeing more performances at the Yuma Art Center.

I bought a ticket and went to The Art Center to see the Pink Floyd tribute show Shine on Floyd…read more The Art center though historical compact, fit the crowd of about 300 (seats about 500) into decent sized chairs. I didn't expect too much from the small theater as far as the light show but they made do. And The Pig Balloon was bounced around by the crowd instead of floating; pretty cool (the band said that was unexpected). Also unexpected was when the power went out during the last song - but that was turned into a joyous al cappella of the song Comfortably Numb! The concert was very good. An opening act by a local artist when the main act, with an intermission and 2 song encore. I got teary eyed during the emotional song "Great Gig in the Sky" from the backup singers heartfelt singing and thinking about recent deaths to include an older family pet. I regret nothing; I knew they would play it! The band's from AZ. And I'll be sure to go again the next time they're in town. Worth it.

Tony ended up staying open late to perform all of the artwork I was hoping to complete, he turned my 2 hr session into a 6.5 hour accommodation. And the work was exactly what I envisioned to fill in my arm. Tony followed up with me to thank me for coming in and offered condolences over the loss of my parent, this is next level human connection people. In my 30 years of being tattooed, this is what I've learned is value in the experience and in finding the right one to do the work. This is how I responded: "Please call me Andy. Thanks for the steady 6.5 hours of work Tony, you're a beast! I am super happy with the outcome. I appreciate the kind words about my mom, I've unfortunately become accustomed to loss, although that doesn't make it easier when someone we love moves along to the next journey. As I was laying there, zoning into a meditative space, I realized that having a calm soul tattoo us those things that we hold dear is in a lot of ways a form of effective therapy. A healthy way to take some time to center and reflect and use pain and expression to act as shepherds towards transition... where the trauma of the spirit and the trauma of the body can move together in healing. Keep doing what you do for society sir..., for the happy, and the sad, the found and the lost...and those of us that seek a unique brand of therapy under the needle. Till next time my guy. -Andy II" Go see Tony, talent is locked in, vibe is mellow and accepting, cost is beyond fair and competitive and trust is easily established.

The main intersection for the Old City Hall (with ample parking here) is North 2nd Ave and West 1st St. PARKING: The event provides free parking in the dirt lots surrounding the Old City Hall. We were actually turned away from a couple of parking areas (due to max capacity). However, be patient, you'll find spot! Street parking was full... ATMOSPHERE AND DESCRIPTION OF EVENT: This year was Yuma's 13th annual event held the weekend of 11-13 March. This event was ALL about food!! The size of the crowd (for Yuma) was large and very festive! The food court section was right near the entrance featuring Hofbraus House, Nature's Express, and vendors serving kabobs, Dippin' Dots, and other tasty items. Be careful...don't eat too much here - there is large building deeper in the depot hosting a variety of local businesses with samplings of their food! This area was called the "Yuma Recipe Box Event" which allowed patrons to purchase wristbands for $10 and enter a building with many eateries flaunting samples of their food! Local businesses here included Da Boyz, The Garden Café, Ciao Bella, Market Wine Bistro, Quechan, Papa Murphy's Pizza, Hilton Garden Inn Restaurant, Burgers & Beer, Jennie Wah's, and La Fonda. We ate so much! There were also beer (Fat Tire, etc.) and wine tastings from Yuma's Main Squeeze. There were many exhibits from local businesses such as Yuma Community Food Bank (the set up their own Farmer's Market with super-cheap produce like two pounds of butter lettuce for $1 - bunches of spring onions for 25 cents or radishes for 50 cents!), Dole (gave out free samples), and others. There were also date shakes and kettle corn stands - yummy! There were chef exhibitions with fruit carving, chocolate-dipped-fruit samples, and cooking demonstrations. Entertainment seemed non-stop: live belly-dancers, local high school cheerleaders, other dancing organizations, etc. CONCLUSION: It was a beautiful day for walking around and seeing so many local eateries. Living in Yuma for over 8 years, I am ashamed that I never visited the festival previously. I WON'T miss it again! I strongly recommend that you check it out!
