Never once did anything scary or concerning happen like I had experienced with other providers, and her in-home care gave my son (and me) the feeling of being cared for by a family member rather than dropping him off to a room of 20 kids with a constant turn over in staff. Another huge plus was that he was sick MUCH less often than in a larger daycare setting. Laura is fully licensed and follows all rules and guidelines to a T, and her care was also reimbursable through submitting receipts to my work's FSA (if you have an FSA option for healthcare). Instead, I was taking 20 minutes to try to get him to stop crying and transfer him without waking him up (often having to restart the whole process). He was still waking every 4 hours most nights even though I knew he could do more. Kris was so helpful in giving me the guidance and confidence I needed to put a plan in place and stick to it! There are so many voices online, but it was really important to have one experienced and trusted voice in my ear so I wasn't going back and forth between different strategies (sabotaging all of them). I was introduced to Kris while living in Colorado, but had moved to Michigan by the time I needed help with my LO. Even from that distance I felt very supported. My baby immediately started sleeping 10 hours and only taking 2 minutes to soothe himself and get to sleep (most of the time). There is no skill building, just a quick cessation of all night feeds while you are told to soothe. I tried a few times to get my money back, and they asked if I would try again. I said yes and that was a pretty big mistake on my part. Over Thanksgiving break, I just did it without her help, and after I emailed saying I had done it on my own, she just about took all the credit and hasn't checked up or tried to see if I would like anymore of that $1500 service I paid for. I tried being kind and polite, and that was mistake. Please go elsewhere, the help here is very minimal but very expensive.

I paid over $800 for her "sleep consulting" package in addition to paying for ten nights of sleep trainers over a four month period ($4,500). My baby is now ten months old and still not sleeping well. This is my third baby and I've worked with other sleep consultants. Rachelle's "method" consists on eliminating night feeds. It does not teach your baby any skills for sleeping independently. Not all babies wake due to hunger. My baby (and so many babies) struggles to connect sleep cycles. Her plan gave me no tools to help with this. When I reached out to her for help, I would often receive extremely delayed responses (often days later) and when I did get responses, they were difficult to understand, and I would have to text back many times to clarify what I was supposed to be doing. If I was having an issue, I was often made to feel like I was doing something wrong, and I did not feel supported in this process. For example, her plan says that the baby needs to nap in his crib once a day. But my baby would cry anytime I put him in the crib for the nap. When I asked her how to accomplish this, she just repeated that he needed a nap in the crib. Other sleep trainers will be much more responsive, troubleshoot when things are going wrong, and shift the plan to adapt to your baby instead of constantly just repeating the plan that isn't working. As a client, I felt like we were an afterthought and not a priority. Unless we were scheduling night help which she helped with promptly (this was probably because we paid a ton of money when we used the night help). I reached out to Rachelle over a week ago to explain my concerns and have had zero response back. We had a few stops and starts due to illness, which is a normal thing to occur and each time we were starting from scratch because we hadn't actually given our baby any skills to put himself to sleep. After spending thousands of dollars with her, a response feels pretty necessary. I will say she did a good job of placing sleep trainers when we needed them. But having sleep trainers didn't really help us because as soon as we needed to take over our baby behaved completely differently (because, of course he does). Additionally, it didn't seem like she communicated what the sleep training plan was with the sleep trainers because every night they arrived, they asked me what they were supposed to be doing. There are definitely other sleep trainers in the area that will provide more support, respond in a timely manner, ad actually help your baby learn how to sleep not just how to not eat at night. I'm honestly in shock that we spent this much money and I am still sleep deprived. I would definitely not recommend using Rachelle.

However, this proved extremely time-consuming, yielded few qualified applicants, and resulted in someone we tried to hire backing out last minute, leaving us with just two weeks before our current childcare ended... with no nanny, no additional qualified applicants, and no time or energy left for the search (since it was a busy time for me at work). At that point, we contracted with Kiddie Up to help us find a nanny for our nanny share. Just one day after signing the contract, Maggie set up a conference call with me and the other mom and posted the position posted right away. Within four days of signing the contract, Maggie sent us four qualified applicants and we started interviews right away. During and after our nanny search, Maggie was extremely communicative via email, always answering my questions within 24 hours but usually much faster. The nannies who applied to our position through Kiddie Up were of a MUCH higher caliber than any we found on our own. All of them had already passed a background check, completed an interview with Maggie, and had their references checked before we received their applications. I feel extremely thankful that we found our amazing and experienced nanny among those applicants. She has been working for us for four weeks now and has far exceeded our expectations in every single way! Without Maggie and Kiddie Up, we never would have found her. Maggie also helped us with contract negotiations and set us up with a wonderful, experienced temporary nanny who worked for just my family during the two weeks before our permanent nanny could start. If you want to hire a professional nanny, I highly recommend contracting with Maggie and Kiddie Up Nannies. Their services are well worth the cost and much more reasonable than other agencies. The negative reviews are the exact opposite of my experience with Maggie and Kiddie Up. If in doubt, I suggest you email Maggie yourself to see what kind of response you receive. Having our son here has made me not question working full-time, because I know he is having a blast and getting to learn more than he could at home by also being able to develop socially with all his friends. I am sooooo thankful I found this treasure of a daycare. It's also a super convenient location being within a 2-minute walk from our pediatrician (and others if you choose). I will be sad to leave it, but know it will just open space for more families that need quality care for their child. BONUS: They also offer date nights once a month from 6-11pm where you only pay $20 for your child to be cared for and fed. Definitely a better deal than trying to find a babysitter!
