I really didn't want to write this review, but alas, here I am. After much back and forth to no avail, I have come to the internet to air my grievances. I will start with the good. Royal Gorge Skydive was extremely safe, which is obviously the most important thing to look for in a sky diving company. They were very thorough and I was at ease the entire time knowing that I was in very capable hands. The experience was incredible (first timer over here) and the view was spectacular. I skydived with my entire family (6 total) and each of our instructors did a great job at making us feel more than comfortable. However, if I could do it all over again, I'd choose somewhere else and that is my reason for the one star rating. We arrived for our 10am dive at around 9:45am. The first person in our party didn't dive until 12:30pm. But then, of course, the pilot and instructors wanted lunch, so we had to do even more waiting. Now this wouldn't be a huge deal if it had been made known earlier. We are patient folks and were really just enjoying the family time together. However, we definitely would have packed a cooler with some lunch and drinks. We were coming in from out of town, so we kenneled our dogs. If we had known in advance that they would just be taking two divers at a time with extended intervals in between and before, we would have brought our dogs with us, too! But instead we were just famished with a limited amount of vending machines drink options and our sweet pups anxiously awaiting our return. Again, not a big deal and I would have let it slide if everything else went well. But it didn't. For all 6 in our party, we had purchased the dive package with video and pictures. However, only 4 out of the 6 of us got what we paid for and that is absolutely unacceptable. One member only received pictures, no video and another member received NOTHING. I fancy myself a pretty understanding person and I know that sometimes technology fails us. I totally get that. BUT if it does, as a business, you MUST provide some sort of compensation. That didn't happen. If it had, if Royal Gorge Skydive had righted their wrong, they would probably be getting a 4 star rating out of me (the waiting game was still pretty annoying). I (and other members of our party) spent day after day calling and asking about these pictures. Each time it was followed by a "we're looking into it," "we'll figure it out," "give it a couple days," "they should be up there," etc. But nothing ever happened. Our incessant emails and phone calls were just falling on deaf ears. And sometimes very rude ears. It's not so much the missing pictures and videos that bother me, I still have the wonderful memory stored in my brain. But it's the complete disrespect for us as customers. Now, we paid for these features. The right thing to do would be to offer a partial refund or another dive, but nope. Nothing. They just kept deflecting our calls and emails. I can only assume they were hoping that we would just forget about it and they'd never hear from us again. Unfortunately, as a last resort I am writing this review. Hopefully in the future they will learn to respect their customers and give them what they pay for, but until then you should go somewhere else. There are plenty of other skydiving companies in the area. Seriously, if you want your money's worth, go to one of the others. This place isn't worth it, even with a groupon. I chose a one star rating because I fear that anything more won't garner the attention that this post deserves. You can't treat your customers this way. Not providing services that your customer paid for is, by definition, stealing. Until Royal Gorge Skydive can figure that out, they shouldn't be getting any more service. read more

Tldr: I was told that I need to leave for crying a bit when they tried to charge me twice. My friend left a bad review and they took it out on me. Don't go here. It's a scam and there are better places in Colorado to skydive. I apologize for the long story but this one is a doozy. I came in today to skydive after scheduling and planning for over a year. I paid 182 to my friend who sent it onward to the company and we were ready to go. The first two times the weather was bad which I understood and so I happily came back today instead. Unfortunately I told them I'd have to go without the others in the group because some of them were from out of state. They said this was fine and to call and reschedule whenever. I made a new reservation for a month out after discussing which days were good for my boss and friend, Great. I came in today and there was a mix up with the payment and they claimed to have sent a refund to my friend (without my knowledge) so again no biggie I needed to check out what happened to the money but I wasn't too worried. Then they decided that because I didn't reschedule within 48 hours I wasn't going to get my deposit back at all and I needed to pay the entire amount again. Given that money is tight and I am a struggling health care worker I got a bit sad and cried a bit. I asked my friend what happened to the money and she said she had not received it (spoiler alert: they sent it to the wrong address). My friend in the original party then left a bad review about communication and an employee came out and yelled at me about it as if I control other people. Now, I'll admit that I cried and had to call and ask my husband for gas money to get home but I did and was going to pay it again.... Untill I spoke to an older woman with white hair (Lynne) Because I teared up she said, "There are gonna be bigger stressors in your life... if you can't handle this you shouldn't jump." Now I have been through a lot and I do not care to have anyone downplay my experience or take 182 of my hard earned dollars. But furthermore money is a far greater stressor than skydiving ever could be so crying over 400 dollars in today's economy is not that weird. Following this, they told me I would need to leave for having tears in my eyes and "causing a scene" (the scene caused was me crying and calling to ask for gas money?). I asked for clarification and she confirmed I was being asked to leave for crying. (Not even crying loudly, just having emotions.) They then made me wait 2 hours in my car at 100 degrees because they were too upset that another member of the ORIGINAL jumping party left a negative review. Honestly this whole thing seemed like a scam and I am contacting the BBB and informing them of my treatment. Edit: this is the same company as Royal Gorge Skydive. Don't let them fool you. I purchased the two tandem skydives that include video/photos for my husbands birthday. I scheduled it for him and a buddy to jump on 2/20, a Monday Morning. We live up in Denver so they are about a 2 hr drive south. We received a call about 45 minutes prior to jump time that the winds were high and they were on a delay. We decided to continue on and see if they calmed down, as the area we were at was sunny, 60, and beautiful. I know the feeling of a lot of people when they get this call, weather seems fine, its sunny, why can't we jump? When we got to the airfield the wind levels were very different than anywhere else. The guys signed their waivers and watched a short video so they were ready once the winds calmed. During this time one couple was able to make their jump (scheduled time was before ours) but when they returned Jacko mentioned the winds had majorly picked up on the landing and it got a bit crazy. We hung out waiting for about 3 hrs, Athena kept us posted that the winds were still too high and they could not safely complete a jump at those levels which finally lead to our jump being cancelled due to winds. Please know when booking that Royal Gorge does everything they can to jump and safety is first. Yes there is a chance you will have to reschedule even after a long drive but that is all part of the experience you are trying to have and live to talk about. Winds by the airfield are definitely nothing like what they are anywhere else. We rescheduled for March 29, a Thursday Morning. We arrived and everything moved smoothly. The instructions were minimal but for a good thing cause then there would of been to much to remember. While my husband and his friend were up jumping Athena kept us updated on when they were getting ready to jump and allowed us to go out to the landing spot to see them coming down. We were able to watch everything from the ground and be with the guys right after they landed. My husband loved every minute of it and said that Jason was amazing. He gave him just enough instructions to be safe, kept him mellow and enjoy the whole time. Afterwards we waited a bit to see some of the photos and parts of the video that Jason took. We left with a great experience and a memory that will never be forgotten. When we went to view our videos and photos there was an issue with our video. I contacted Royal Gorge and let them know that it was not completed. Athena worked with me for over a week to try and make sure we were happy. After all the back and forth we finally got a perfect video and we could not be any happier with Royal Gorge. If you book and go with an understanding of safety, weather conditions, and have a bit of patience you experience will be something amazing. Something has clearly happened with this company in the past few months. I purchased a groupon back in June/July and read reviews at the time, which were great. We finally picked a date to go and I booked it online, as the groupon AND website state. I followed all of the steps and received a confirmation email that CLEARLY stated my appointment date, time and that I booked a tandem skydive for two. There was nothing unclear to make me think it did not go through or that I did not complete the booking properly. My boyfriend and I both took the day off of work ahead of time once the day and time was booked. We drove the 45 minutes out there, found the hangar, but was unable to find the office. Upon calling the number in my email, I was told that the plane was out of commission for the day and all scheduled appointments had been called to reschedule. I was also told that coincidentally, my name was not on their appointment book...At this point I was frustrated and upset and really disappointed. I was told that it was MY fault the booking "didn't make it to their appointment book and that this happens maybe 5 times a month to customers". To even happy a so-called "5 times a month" is unacceptable and embarrassing for any reputable company. I was planning to drive home and be upset the whole day, when my boyfriend suggested stopping by another skydive company right across the way that had a sign that said "walk-in's welcome"! So we stopped in and they were MORE THAN HAPPY to accommodate us in just a couple hours behind those already scheduled. Upon sitting at said other skydiving company's hangar, we met 10 other people who had THE SAME THING happen to them the same day. Lucky for all of us, groupon refunded us our money no questions asked. And lucky for all of us, we all still got to go skydiving that day with an AMAZING company who had wonderful customer service. Everything happens for a reason and I am glad we ended up skydiving with the company we did. Oh, also come to find out that Royal Gorge Skydiving has been down for about 3 weeks prior due to their plane being deemed not safe by the FAA...that's not the plane I want to skydive out of! STAY FAR AWAY from this company!!! It's unfortunate for the instructors, because I heard great things about them, but their owner is AWFUL and has NO sense of customer service. Their website should NOT be accepting bookings if they don't have a safe plane. read more

IF YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT EXPECT FOR IT NOT TO BE HONORED! Groupon has been notified of this company's lack of communication and accountability and at this point I would consider this a scam. Luckily we bought our jumps through groupon and we were fully refunded... We showed up for our appointment today and could not figure out which hanger we were supposed to be at. We ran into someone who said 'oh I don't think those guys are operating today'. We tried calling RG on the way down from Denver (2 hours) to make sure we were still scheduled... And never got a call back. So when we were told they are not operating today we called RG sky diving and I spoke with Tammy. I will say, she wasn't absolutely terrible to talk to (was not yelling or anything) but she claimed that she called me yesterday to cancel our appointment (for 6 people who took a day off work) and I did not have a voicemail from her. She basically just told me that this was my problem and offered no solution other than to reschedule (ha yeah right...) and told me it wasn't her fault my phone doesn't work correctly. So we had to get groupon on the phone and have them refund us all of our money (THANK GOD our money was not in the hands of RG, we would have never seen it again). We then learned that RG's plane was out of commission for 3 weeks... And we were never notified. Their plane was actually deemed unsafe by the FAA, which is why they have not been operating for 3 weeks. All I can say is... Don't waste your time with this company. They are shady and need to get shut down. About 8-10 more people including our 6 also showed up thinking they had an appointment, so I know it was not just a one time occurrence or my cell phone mysteriously losing a voicemail. I believe their instructors are probably awesome, but their business is not properly managed along with their equipment. Get your money back from groupon ASAP and run the other direction. read more

CAUTION!! BAD ATTITUDES!! All the excitement we had to experience a Skydive was quickly replaced by disgust. Not only did our appointment keep getting rescheduled due to weather and plane being in the shop for maintenance, but not one person called to inform us that our appointment needed to be rescheduled because weather came in. We drove in 3 times, a 4 hour drive each time, only to be told it was not possible to go anymore. We were treated very disrespectfully by the woman who answered the phone and the one running the office. On the phone, the lady told me it was my fault and not theirs for not checking the weather and that it is not their job to call and reschedule us because of weather. We got the same disrespect upon going in to the office, assuming it was the same woman, and she told us she didn't care that we drove four hours. I asked what should we do to avoid this problem again and they just recommended rescheduling again, this time for an earlier appointment. Knowing we have to drive four hours, we finally decided to do it their way. We made an appointment for first load. Got up at the crack of dawn, drove yet again four hours, just to be delayed by slow starting staff. Finally, four months after making the first appointment, we are in the plane! Disappointment again! It turns out, you don't fly over the Royal Gorge bridge. It was very unfortunate considering we booked with them assuming we would be right over it. Other than that, the Skydive itself was fun. I am very happy we finally did it, but if you are looking to fall in love with skydiving, choose a more professional team. I would rate zero stars if I could. They need a person with better attitude towards customers running the office and answering phones. read more

If you are looking for your epic, first time Skydive with beautiful views and wonderful service, then you have found the right team. The staff is very professional and courteous, have excellent guidance for nervous first timers, and are extremely friendly. Even though you are about to step out into the world of the unknown, they help keep you at ease by talking to you the whole way, from the time they start gearing you up answering any questions you have, during your plane ride up explaining all the scenery around, til you are back on the ground full of adrenaline rushing through you. They make you feel like a part of the team 100% of the time you are there. The staff is very professional with the safety of themselves and of the customers first and foremost. Their prices are very reasonable including with or without the photo/video package, and are open every day of the week for your convenience. I really had a great time with this group of people. I just wish I could still be there enjoying the skies daily with this awesome group of individuals!! I highly highly recommend them and if I could, I would go every day!! read more

I took my girlfriend for her birthday and wasn't sure what to expect, however the whole process from booking on group on to confirming my booking with the company was super easy and seamless. When we got there all the staff were really friendly and helped set expectations and field questions. They ran us through the drill and what we were going to do multiple times before the jump and then several times on the plane ride up. This made us both feel very at ease and both the instructors were extremely professional while keeping the mood light to ease the nerves. The scenic views on the plane ride up were breathtaking and both instructors make it enjoyable by pointing out scenery and making sure we both had the time of our lives. Overall I would absolutely rate our experience 5/5 and I will be recommending this company to my friends in the future. No first time experience should be like mine. I chose this company for my tandem because the rates were so low. Apparently, you DO get what you pay for. I had very rude service on the phone with the lady who claimed to be the owner. First off, if you own a business, shouldn't you treat people better? Then they made me feel like an idiot when I had a hard time figuring out where to park. The instructors were friendly, but seemed more interested in laughing and giggling with each other while looking at other tandem pictures on their computer, to which at one point I heard a remark about the cleavage in said pictures. I feel degraded as a woman and as a customer who paid good money to only be treated like they could care less. I only hope other customers don't fall for the lowered rates because I'm sure they are lowered for a reason. read more

Had to set up a yelp account just for this amazing place. We drove right up to the place, walked and checked in, we had to wait for a weather delay but I know if that was not the case they'd have us already suited up to go, got on the plane, jumped, they prepared pics and video right there, then suited up for their next jump, all within 10 min of landing. Amazing. The turf is literally out the back door of the place itself, no driving, no wait times, nothing. The people were super nice and funny! Took my boyfriend here for his 21st and it will never be forgotten. The plane ride itself provides a view of Pikes peak, reservoir, and the royal gorge itself. Support this small town place, they deserve every bit. read more

This was an awesome experience from start to finish! The first jump was so incredible that I signed up for another one ... and was in the last load of the day, so that I spent hours there. I enjoyed watching how meticulous everyone was at carrying out their tasks, from packing chutes, assisting customers, and every bit of preparing me for the awesome jump. The BEST part was knowing I was on my second jump of the day and the instructor (KARI) said, "Let's not be complacent ..." as she went over the entire routine again like we did it on the first jump together. Safety First is the rule with this group. I had jumped before on the East coast, so I knew what to expect ... this far exceeded my expecations! read more

DO NOT PURCHASE THE GROUPON!!!!! My friends and I purchased the groupon and made an appointment months in advance. We drove 2 HOURS to jump to find out Royal Gorge Skydive was shut down 3 WEEKS PRIOR to our appointment. We didn't even get a notification that they were unable to honor our appointment. The phone number they provided was not working. luckily for us, there was another skydiving company what was more than willing to accommodate us and get all of us an appointment. This company severely lacks professionalism and their customer service is AWFUL. Please do not waste your time with this company. read more

This was my very first time skydiving and I must say this was the best experience I could ever ask for. The staff was extremely kind and helpful in explaining all aspects of the events that would take place through out the entire process. I felt very safe and educated on the process. The diver attached was also super helpful the whole way up on the plane, made sure I felt relaxed and excited. I would highly recommend this establishment for any first time jumpers and visitors as well. The view above was truly amazing! 5 stars all the way. read more

This was our second jump with Royal Gorge Skydive and was just as fun and exciting as our first.Vicki & Matt handle the logistics and operations flawlessly. And Caleb and Jacko (our tandem instructors) assist, instruct, and prepare you in a very thorough and enjoyable manner. We (everyone) had a delay due to the weather (heavy fog) earlier that morning but they made sure we still got up in the air and got our jump in.
