The owner does not do warranties and gets defensive when asked about them for some reason

As an east coast resident, words cannot convey how cool this place is. I literally could stop right…read morethere and my review would be over, but Yelp likes whole essays about shtuff. I've been to a lot of places around the globe. More than most people my age could ever hope for, but this place is new to me. In my one visit to this store I rode a Ferris wheel, played bowling, and browsed the largest arsenal of firearms I've ever seen. That alone made my day, but I'm not done yet. This place has more bikes and skateboards than Alpine Ski Shop. Their camping section is larger than Dick's and Cabela's combined. The clothing department is chock full of everything that one would want to pull over their skin. I haven't even mentioned that their prices are average to cheap! Heck, even the employees are kind and helpful! There's literally nothing I can complain about, because I've never experienced anything that compares to Scheels. I literally cried when I walked into this place, because it fulfilled everything my hopes and dreams could possibly muster. I love being critical to mega corporations, and I thought they might have a fascist CEO or something, but that's where it really gets crazy. Scheels is 100% employee owned, meaning DEMOCRACY BABY!!! I barely edited this review, so if you see something weird, I honestly don't care. Moral of the story is that I'm flabbergasted beyond belief.

OMG they have everything. If you need anything sports…read morerelated or not, checkout Scheels. We are visiting from New Mexico and stopped by Scheels. Our son went to one in Pittsburgh and said it was a megastore. He was not kidding. Any sport related product you may need, they have it. Equipment clothes shoes accessories. Everything. They have products at the higher end as well as more midrange. Prices are appropriate. We talked to several staff in different areas and all were extremely helpful. Don't forgot check out the arcade, cafe, candy shop, bowling alley, shooting gallery, aquarium and Farris wheel. It's a family adventure

Lifelong skier here. This is the only true traditional ski shop in the area. Highly knowledgeable,…read moreand experience you just don't find elsewhere and certainly not in large retail. Kevin is an institution there and the best boot and ski fitter and in the region. Spent lots of time with me, listened very carefully to my needs, evaluated feet in detail, and put me into a great fitting boot. Full confidence that if any issues arise, they will be able to adjust and correct. Ski boot fitting is an art, and it takes patience, experience, and lots of trial and error. Kevin absolutely rocks that process. Working with this shop gives me that feeling I had about skiing many years ago. Can't wait to get on the hill!

Absolutely the worst ski rental experience of my life. The skis I rented literally fell apart…read moremid-run -- they split open on a perfectly good slope and sent me flipping over. I could've been seriously injured. When I told the staff, they couldn't have cared less. These people are scammers from the moment you walk in. I even paid for their so-called "insurance package," which turned out to be a total joke -- it covers nothing. The equipment is garbage, the staff is rude, and the whole operation feels like a ripoff. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away. There are plenty of rental shops that actually care about safety and customers -- this is not one of them.

This place was incredible. I never caught the owners name, but that man was awesome, I'm new to…read moreskiing and he was very aware of that answering all my questions and explaining things to me as thoroughly as possible. His hospitality was second to none and I don't see myself going anywhere other than the Snow Hut!! Cheers, Jett

We wanted to shop at a local place, so we dropped skis off 2 weeks in advance of needing to leave…read moretown and Timur assured me they could be ready in time. Reminded him by text 4 days in advance and he again assured me they would be ready. Day of, at noon, I went to pick up the skis and they were not ready, but he said if I came back at 5p (just before my flight) he would be done. Went back at 5p and they were not done. After swearing at me that he had too many f**ing tasks to do and too many customers so it wasn't his fault he said he could finish the tune while I waited for 10min and charged me full price. When I brought my skis in days later to adjust the bindings I was informed by a the new shop that "the skis have not been touched at all, the edges are so dull I can safely run my finger with pressure, there are 4-5 core shots needing repair for safety reasons, there is no basework, no grinding, and no wax." This shop charged half of Snow Hut and did a professional job and a full tune that you can see and feel. I have called my credit card company to revoke the charge since no work was done on the skis.
