Great gift ideas! We always come here for inspiration and bonding time. This time we went prime time Saturday, around 1130am, pretty busy, the staff were super helpful! They made sure we felt welcome and not neglected. Even gave us experienced ones some stroke/painting tips!! It generally takes 1 weeks before your items are ready to pick up. This is my second time painting pottery and both have been at this location. There's a good selection of pottery to choose from, but it is a bit expensive.. especially with the studio fee of $10. I picked two little ice cream bowls and they were about $12 each. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable of techniques my friends and I were interested in. A lot of the pieces are very "cute", making it a great place for children. There are cool selections for the boys as well. The color selection is fantastic as well! read more

I have gone to Color Me Mine locations all over the Twin Cities and even out of state. This particular location I've been to a few times prior. When I go there to paint a piece of pottery, it is a several hour event (I've been there upwards of 8-9 hours before). This past time I had spent 6-7 hours painting a bowl with an intricate pattern. Upon picking up my bowl I had found that they had missed a spot with the clear glazing where the bisque had shown through, and you could feel the rough texture. Also, the middle had been chipped away and messed up the paint. When pointing this out they were hesitant to fix the problem. Regardless of the quality put into the piece, they should take it upon themselves to fix the piece if possible. After debating with them, they had agreed to put a clear coat on it again and touch up the chipped paint area in the middle of the bowl. After picking it up a month later, because it is out of the way from where I live, I got my bowl back just to have the exact same problems. They did not do anything but throw it in the kiln, no touch up on clear coating or fixing the middle. Overall, I'm very upset of the time and money I lost over this, and the unfortunate way it was handled. read more

Never been to one of these places and when you ask how it works, they aren't clear on what the process really is and just skim the directions (such as $8 table fee, pick out piece you want to paint) , even after I told them you've never been here, do not know what to do, and found them on google. Very high price $19-22+ for a mug and higher for other pieces. You then can paint but would not get it pick it up for a week+. Not a great process if you're from out of town (thought it was within a day since they accept walk-ins). Prior to getting paint, I had to re-ask how it works and when we would get our projects. They offered to ship, estimated the cost in advance for us, found out it was another $22 to ship the 2 mugs. Decided against and glad I asked before we even started anything. Staff super friendly but disappointed it wasn't clear how it works or what to expect when we first walked in. read more

Fun place to get pick out ceramic pieces and apply glaze. It has become MORE expensive plus you have to pay a $10 sitting fee also. It was super crowded mid day on the Saturday that I was there and lots of families or moms with kids were there. Many of the kids seemed to become bored with their project pretty quick. (Do they raise prices right before Christmas?) The people coming in for their finished products had to wait quite awhile as staff seemed to have trouble finding their finished bags of items. The area where the finished items were stored was truly pure chaos. Many bags on the floor and when I went to use the restroom I needed to carefully step around people's bags of ceramics! Not good!!!! A person could easily kick a bag with their foot and ruin someone's products. Speaking of the bathroom... It needed cleaning! The floor was dirty, garbage overflowing, and the sink was disgusting! I've been in the place several times over the past couple months and the bathroom is always filthy. On the brighter side the very young staff there are very helpful, always willing to give recommendations and assistance and truly appeared to enjoy their work. read more
