$2,457 Later, My A/C Still Wasn't Cold -- And I Did Not Authorize the Repairs…read more I brought my Mercedes to Boulevard Automotive because the A/C was not blowing cold and I wanted the problem diagnosed. Most importantly: I did not authorize the repairs that were performed. Their invoice states, "CUSTOMER AUTHORIZED SECONDARY AIR PUMP." I dispute that statement. I did not authorize that repair, and I did not authorize expensive additional work to be performed without first speaking with me and obtaining my approval. I ultimately received a $2,457.32 bill. That included $291.67 for A/C evaluation/recharge and $1,157.97 for replacement of the A/C condenser -- almost $1,450 in A/C-related work alone. After all of that, their own invoice states: "A/C is cooling but not too cold." So after nearly $1,450 of A/C work, the problem I brought the car in for was still not resolved. Only afterward did they tell me the A/C compressor had failed and quote another $914 for the compressor, or approximately $1,276 for the compressor and expansion valve. Their paperwork also contains a contradiction: the A/C test section says "LEAKS FOUND -- NO," while immediately below it states that the A/C condenser was leaking Freon. I also asked to review the bill before paying and was refused that opportunity. I have now taken the car to another independent repair shop to complete the repair. Their compressor price is in roughly the same range, so my concern is not simply the price. My concern is the process: work I did not authorize, a $2,457.32 bill I was not allowed to properly review before payment, and an A/C system that still was not cold when I left. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend getting every diagnosis and estimate in writing and making absolutely certain that no additional work is performed without your explicit authorization.

I've been coming to Mr Auto since last year and I'm very happy with their service and…read moreattentiveness. I came in for my 2007 Acura MDX. I was having issues where my car wouldn't start or the battery kept dying. Which didn't make sense since I would change for a new battery and it would keep happening. So when I was looking for a body shop to take care of my car, Mr Auto was one of the 3 locations I was looking at. The biggest reason I picked this location was because of the reviews and the response the owner or mechanics had for the customers. For the low star reviews, I liked how the responses to the customers were factually. Most reviews are based on emotion without any backing. So it was interesting to see the owner/ mechanics would bring up conversations, numbers and factual information. That told me they were attentive and knew what they were talking about. So I took my car there, it was a month long process because it was hard to figure out what was going on. It was an unusual situation. After coming back and forth for weeks, they were nice to have me keep my car there without extra charge because some situations happened only when I was driving and they couldn't trigger any of the issues so they thought it would be best to keep it. They only charged me the diagnosis price and finally after a month, we were able to figure out and it was such a simple small thing that cost little to nothing and completely fixed my issue. Since then, I come here for simple oil changes, because I can trust them. I know they take the time and don't rush. Actually during that month long situation, my battery died again and I was able to jump start it, but I had a smog check. Luckily I told the smog check place what happened and they didn't test it because it would fail since the car had to be driven for at least 50-80 miles. So I drove around San Diego and called Mr Auto and they told me to come in and they would double check my car to make sure it was good to go for the Smog check. Another extra step they did for me. It was awesome. They definitely make you feel safe and comfortable.

I'm driving the car and I'm life is on the line. Can't trust them 100%. I mean it is a decent spot, nice guys, and a decent price but the work makes me worry. Maybe those guys works too much and forget about tighten things back up. Sorry for the review but I had to be honest. Hope it gets better.

Highly recommend for road trip prep!…read more This is an amazing place to get your vehicle inspected before a long road trip. I booked online, noted my concerns in the text box, and dropped my car off the next day. After checking in at the office, I walked Joey through my concerns and opted for a Post-Purchase Inspection. Joey sent over the findings quickly and gave me his honest, upfront opinion on what needed immediate attention before my trip versus what maintenance could wait until I reached my destination. He also provided a clear copy of the inspection quotes so there were no surprises. In the end, they completed the full inspection, replaced the car battery, and fixed a coolant leak for around $550+ (including taxes). I definitely recommend this shop! Pro-tip: Try to get there early in the day, as on-site parking and road traffic can get a bit hectic later on.

Bottom Line Upfront: Miramar Auto Repair is one of the best values of any auto shop in San Diego…read more Jason and Pedro were exceptional in taking care of me, and finding a solution to a very technical challenge. I brought in my Honda Ridgeline for an issue with my AC. Jason worked with me at the front-desk and went above and beyond to understand my issue and the troubleshooting I had already done. He explained to me CONCISELY what the feasible issue may be, and how they were going to approach a diagnosis. Jason was extremely knowledgeable, and followed up promptly to discuss the fix. Pedro was also exceptional. He found the issue (rodent-chewed wires) and repaired it perfectly. When I picked up my car, he was as excited as I was to have helped me. Before Miramar Auto, I took my truck to the Honda dealer, and they charged twice as much for a diagnosis, only to tell me that I would need a new compressor (incorrect diagnosis) and that it would cost twice as much as I ended up paying out the door at Miramar auto. I couldn't believe how easy Miramar Auto made it. To say that Jason, Pedro, and Miramar Auto are honest, fair, and made me feel taken care of... would be an understatement. They have rightfully earned another lifelong customer. Thank you Miramar Auto!
