First of all , let me say that the reception lady I spoke with on the phone was very kind and sweet, and for the most part, handled everything as best as she could. I am also very happy with the final result of how the kitchen counters turned out. However my experience with the installers was very frustrating and I will explain why now.
When the installers originally showed up to do the measurements, I was not able to be at home so I left a key with the concierge for them and also my telephone number so that they could call me if they had any issues or questions. Well, I heard nothing from anyone until the next day when my primary contractor (who hired Colonial Countertops to take care of that portion of the job) emailed me asking for the measurements of the cooktop and sink. When I questioned why those measurements weren't taken while the installers were here, no one had an answer. The cooktop was by the kitchen in plain site and the (new) sink was in the box by the front door, which I already explained to them prior to their arrival. Anyways, I still have no idea why they didn't just call me for clarification as this ended up delaying the entire completion of the project.
Luckily, the measurements for the sink were on the box so I was able to just take a picture and send them that info. But now they are asking me to send them the model number for the cooktop so they can look up the measurements over the internet. Sorry but that was not going to happen as one tiny error would be very costly, and I would most likely be responsible for that. After some going back and forth, Colonial Countertops finally agreed to have the installers return almost a week later to take the proper measurements for the cooktop. Unfortunately, as I mentioned above, this ended up delaying the entire completion of the project another week and a half because the other contractor I hired to complete the kitchen needed to fly to Germany and wouldn't be able to get his portion of work done until he returned and the counters were in.
To top all of this off, when the installers came back a third time to finally install the countertops, they told me that the faucet I purchased wouldn't line up with the connectors and that I needed to purchase another faucet. Well I have no idea what they were talking about because the next day, a family member came by and was easily able line up the faucet with the sink with no issues. My Goodness!
I know that projects/renovations like these can often have problems that come up which cause delays. I am usually the type of person who tries to be very open minded and understanding. However, I feel that all of this happened out of sheer laziness on the installers' part, and all of this could have easily been avoided with one simple phone call. Sorry but I do not recommend this company based on my experience. read more
