This business is beyond perfect. We used Collins to have five 80 ft trees removed that were less than 10 feet from the front of my house. The house is 80 ft from the street and we didn't want the grass or the house to be damaged. I met Ryan Collins about a year ago to remove a dead oak from my side yard. He arrived with a crew to make an estimate and did the job on the spot for a very good price. His crew worked from a bucket truck efficiently and safely and when they left it was like they were never there. But removing 5 extremely tall pines and oaks hanging over our 40 ft tall roof was a different matter. He made the estimate, set a date and arrived on "tree-day" like an army with a well thought out plan. Including a crane that looked like was used to build a bridge. It has a 100 ft boom and reached my house from the street. He had obtained all the permits from the city and had all his papers with him to prove it. I must tell you that I hate to cut any tree. These magnificent trees were here before we were, and I hated to have to cut them. Ryan made an honest health assessment and noted that they and the proximity to the house were choking each other out, citing the amount of pine straw and dying branches, that they had to be removed. I don't trust just anybody for something so important, but I trusted Ryan. He is experienced, caring, educated, and guided me though his plan before he started. He supervised the crew and they worked like a ballet company. Hoisting people into trees, protecting my lawn, planning each cut and lift, grinding the branches and loading the logs. And in 3 hours the hard work was done without even a close call of any kind. A few more hours of trimming some branches, blowing off 2 years of debris from my roof, and sweeping the street and driveway, and we saw out home in a new light. This business is beyond perfect. After waiting 1+ month for a company representative to come to our home and give us a quote for our trees we needed cut down, someone finally came out. They left and never gave us a quote, business card or call back. I guess they're independently wealthy here and don't need the business. I do not recommend. read more

Scheduled an appt. back in November 2021 for March 24, 2022 to have trees cut. Received call two days before that they were coming. Received another call at 4:30 pm on Mar. 23 that they were not able to make it from the office staff not Ryan. You do not make someone wait months and then cancel the day before. I called Collins tree removal service with a so so impression from previous reviews. I should have listened to my gut feeling. I called to ask for an estimate to remove one tree and de-limb a second. Ryan was late for the first appointment and the second. I called to schedule a date to have the trees removed. I received a date in late July. I was calling in mid June. The appointed date was approaching so I called to see if it was still happening and was told yes. On the appointed day they did not show up. I do not think they would have bothered to let me know they were not coming if I had not called. I tried to reschedule but felt they were avoiding me. BEWARE! Incredibly impressed! I have used a number of tree/stump services over the years- Collins was spot on. I live in downtown Aiken in a historic home so I am very careful about who I have to work on my property. I have a number of live oaks, sycamores and older trees in my yard that needed work. I also had a number of less desirable trees ( wild cherry etc.. ) that needed removing. Collins came out and carefully reviewed what exactly I wanted - what I wished to remove and what I wished to have trimmed back. The manager listened carefully to what I wanted done and also had great insight and recommendations for me. A few days prior to the day they were coming out the secretary called to confirm and also reviewed the work invoice. Today the team came out. Every single workman was courteous and professional. They arrived promptly at 8:30am as expected and did not leave until the late afternoon. I had a family emergency but they stayed until they could walk through the job with me and were assured I was 100% satisfied. I can't express how happy I am with this service. I called Collins Tree & Stump Service on Monday to schedule a visit for a quote to remove 3 trees from my property. They were scheduled to be there on Tuesday. No one arrived. I called on Wednesday and was told that someone would be there to give me a quote. Once again, no one arrived. I did not receive any phone calls as to why no one arrived. On Friday, I gave up on Collins Tree and called another service. They scheduled an appointment at 9 am on Saturday and arrived before 9. We settled on a quote and the work will begin.
