My property behind my vinyl fence needed many oak trees removed due to constant leaves falling in my yard. I called and left a message and Elliott the owner called back that evening to make an appointment for an estimate the next day, which he promptly showed up for and gave me a good price. He originally told me the job would start in 2-3 weeks but called me to ask if it was okay to start on Saturday. Since I'm retired they could show up any day, I think they liked that. So, over a two and a half week period Cupertino and crew came and went, stopping for rainstorms , windstorms and other jobs. I wasn't in a hurry to get this done, I just wanted a job well done. Summary: Cons: took 1/2 year to finish the job, unresponsive, killed my lawn. Pros: great price, initially very timely service I paid for having some trees removed and the stumps removed as well. The company quickly cut down the trees but it took them almost HALF A YEAR to finish the job and get to the stumps. I'd been calling them regularly for months to come out and finish removing the stumps which I'd already paid them to remove. I felt awful having to hastle a company on an uncomfortably frequent basis and eventually they stopped taking my calls. I left respectful messages asking them to just schedule me in at their convenience and to come out when they could. Almost 6 months after I paid them to cut down my trees and remove the stumps, they finally came to the house and removed the stumps without giving me a call before they showed up; I almost called the cops after hearing people in the yard. I heard some loud noises and saw it was their team. The tree removal equipment left TRENCHES in my lawn which still won't grow back even though they told me beforehand their equipment wouldn't kill the grass. On a positive the employees were fairly polite and initially provided timely service. read more

Elliot and his guys are amazing. They removed 8 very large pines 4 of which were leaning over and directly threatening my home. Two of those were literally inches from my house. One tree was surrounded on three sides. My house on one side a new fence behind and just feet from the neighborhood power lines making it very technical. There was only a small square area to drop all the chunks in. Elliot handled everything including coordinating with Dominion electric to wrap the wires in advance for safety. Nothing hit my house or touched a wire everything landed on target. In addition to tree removal they cleared my property lines for fencing. They chipped everything and removing all the stumps and debris. The place looks great. I got competitive bids from several places. Southern Tree was by far the best pricing which at first made me skeptical but they came with a good referral and they're fully licensed and ensured which gave me confidence. The difference was the other companies all wanted to bring in a heavy crane to lift the trees over my house. These guys do it the old fashioned way. They have serious skills and it saved me a lot of money. Cupertino's high flying aerobatics and rope skills can be a little nerve racking but very fun and entertaining to watch.
