I spoke to one agent, then made an appointment to have calls with others. The Cal Agents called me, and in less than a minute I realized it was someone from a Philippine call center. What a slap in the face. Outsourcing is a hot button issue, and I will NEVER share personal information with someone overseas, but also: WHY? Are they too busy for a two minute call to make that connection? Introduce themselves? Answer relevant questions? And perhaps MOST CLOYING: is this the same company that employs those same call centers to make masked cold calls asking to buy our property? HARD PASS.

Me, and that they have two units available I went in to do the application, at 3088 Pinole Valley Road Pinole, CA 94564 I also wrote a letter to explain my situation. And provided them a voucher I was told they should be getting in contact with me in two weeks, or probably sooner I didn't get a call or email coming into the third- week so on 3/2/2026 at 9:23am I called. The lady told me that they rented one of the units and then she told me that another unit was still available and asked if I have a updated voucher. I then told her that I can't get an updated one because I have to put in a 30-day notice at my current place to get my updated one. But I am approved for a 3bed room do to my extended family. Remind you all of this is what I said in the letter when submitting my application She then tells me that's not true I know people that has there's basically telling me that I am a liar. I was very offended so she asked me again. Can I get an updated voucher today I then said I can try to go get something stating that I have a three-bedroom voucher so I went to the housing office, called her back at 11:13am the secretary picked up and said didn't you just talk to her. We already have two people in both of the units. I then told her that's not what she said. She then transferred me back to the lady I then put the Housing Authority on the phone. She talked with them and everything that she told the housing lady wasn't what she told me. She then proceeded and said we would have to wait for inspections an etc. but what I didn't understand was why she didn't tell me that why did she ask me to go get an updated voucher instead of saying you didn't get the place? After I went 45 minutes away to the housing place and waited in a long line and had to wait to talk with someone She didn't even apologize for calling me a liar after they told her the something I told her if you already know dealing with people with section 8 vouchers requires exceptions why let them apply these rental properties Been up for 84 days already and you're talking about waiting on inspection I was discriminated against. I didn't get a fair chance. This is unacceptable. I feel like I was racially profiled. The moment she got my application. I should have at least gotten a call asking for whatever she needed, and I would have worked on it, but no instead they took my application fee, which I was told that I was going to get back and didn't I'm not mad that I didn't get it I'm upset about the unprofessionalism and discrimination and the disrespect people love to abuse their power I wouldn't recommend anyone to this agency unprofessional and unfair treatment bad communication this is not how you should represent your company the world we live in is so sad I encourage people to know your rights and look up the laws are connecte attorneys

The tenants we selected have been very good to my property and I have had no issues with rental payments. My credit report clearly indicated that there was a security freeze on my file. Despite that, I was told in writing that I could provide 12 months of alternative payment history (such as utility or phone bills) to move forward. I relied on that direction and submitted everything requested. After doing so, they changed their position and said they could no longer accept that documentation because of the credit freeze--something that was already known from the beginning. Even more concerning, they acknowledged the inconsistency, but refused to rectify the situation. The only solution they offered was for me to submit a completely new application, rather than continuing with the one I had already completed. They also repeatedly requested information that had already been provided, and asked for additional banking records to verify where deposits from my paystubs were going, which felt excessive and unnecessary. Communication was extremely poor. I called at least seven times using different phone numbers, and no one ever answered. Their customer service line disconnects, and the only responses I received were via email--about once per day, making it very difficult to resolve anything in a timely manner. Overall, the process lacked transparency, consistency, and professionalism. Being given clear instructions, complying fully, and then having the requirements changed--without any effort to correct it--raises serious concerns about how applications are handled. I would strongly recommend others proceed with caution.

I had a horrific experience with Marshall & Co…read more Property Management (specifically working with Sarah Jainchill and Dakota from Laguna Vista Apartments in Tiburon) that felt discriminatory from the very beginning. When I initially inquired about an apartment, Sarah wouldn't even let me fill out an application the moment I mentioned I had a Section 8 voucher. They only came back to me after their other applicants backed down. After waiting an entire month to move in with my family, I arrived at the move in inspection to a complete nightmare. The listing explicitly promised "New beige waffle weave carpet to be installed in all bedrooms" and "luxury vinyl flooring." In one bedroom, management left sharp debris and trash all over the floor from a recent window or paint repair, completely unvacuumed. Dakota explicitly lied to my face, claiming the new carpets were to be taken care of by move in date, only to later shift the blame entirely onto Sarah. The bedroom carpets were never replaced. Instead, the apartment was delivered completely filthy and in the exact same neglected state as when I first viewed it. the appliances in the unit are severely neglected and broken and need replacement. The kickplate at the bottom of the dishwasher was broken and poorly masked with a large piece of red tape. It completely fell apart upon inspection and requires full replacement. Stove and oven was heavily rusted, caked in thick, old grease, and still contained dirty aluminum foil left behind by the previous tenant. The paint was peeling off the range hood from age and severe grease buildup, posing a fire and another health hazard. I noticed a thick, unsanitary buildup of dust and filth along the sides of the refrigerator. Furthermore, the unit had a cracked toilet seat covered in urine, a broken front door sweeper, broken thermostat, severe mirror rot, and cracked, lifting bathroom flooring. Most alarming of all, there was severe black water damage and suspected mold under the kitchen sink, a major health hazard for my kids. The place seemed as if it had not been cleaned in years!!! When I pointed these out, Dakota dismissed these health and safety issues as "cosmetic or minor maintenance matters." I even offered my own time to clean the unit a day early, but they refused to give me the keys for "liability purposes," yet expected my family to move into a filthy construction zone and live out of boxes until they could finally schedule carpet installers days later. Management showed zero empathy, never apologized, and tried to push me to sign the inspection sheet just to get the keys. Fortunately, I stood my ground, refused to sign, and immediately contacted the MHA, who backed me up completely to cancel the contract. Please beware of Marshall & Co. They misrepresented the property, lied about updates, and tried to force a family into a sub standard, unsafe apartment!
