Most 300 level were in small classrooms. The north campus building are very odd looking. I was told by a UB staff that this was done purposely. I have visited a handful of other SUNY colleges and UB is by far the biggest and nicest. D1 football here. HORNS UP. Besides the university, Buffalo is a great city to live in. It is considered a large city but is small for being a large city. There are a ton of things to do year round. Amazing food options. Bills and Sabres. If you are interested in the SUNY system, would prefer a large campus and has the major you are wanting I would highly recommend applying to UB.

Recently, I was here twice once for a celebration of milestone. One of the university areas reached, which was held in an outside space that was really quite lovely. The food serve was good. Unless you're coming at night, parking here can be very challenging. Be sure to read the signs or you will get a ticket of some sort.

I'm writing this review months after the fact (well into the winter) because the negative impact…read morefrom last summer's Park Camp experience is still lingering in our home. My daughter, who was thrilled to return for her second year at Park School Camp after an unforgettable first summer, continues to mimic an inappropriate behavior she picked up from observing the camp counselors: constantly hiking up and rolling her shorts to make them shorter. Despite our ongoing efforts to address and correct this at home, it's become a stubborn habit that's proven difficult to break, all because she saw it modeled as "normal" by the adult role models at camp. This was never an issue before. The contrast between the two years could not have been more stark, and the disappointment is profound given the significant financial investment I made, as a lone parent household. Thousands of dollars for what is marketed as a premium summer program on a beautiful campus. The first year was, admittedly, truly exceptional: the staff were kind, knowledgeable, professional, and courteous; the weekly themes were creative and fully embraced; and the events were spectacular, thoughtfully planned, and executed with evident care and resources. It genuinely felt like a meaningful investment in the children's growth, joy, and development - a true, dream like partnership between the camp and families. The following year, however, felt like a complete bait-and-switch. Cost-cutting measures were glaringly apparent in every aspect, from reduced staffing quality to stripped-down programming. Weekly themes were barely present - if they existed at all - they felt tacked-on and half-hearted rather than woven into the daily experience. Events that had once been "out of this world" were now subpar: fewer in number, smaller in scale, and lacking the creativity and polish of the prior year. The professionalism evaporated; many counselors dressed casually to the point of inappropriateness, often in extremely short shorts that sent confusing messages to young, impressionable campers who should be able to view them as role models. I am not exaggerating when I say that I saw counselors' private parts showing on more than one occasion. If I had had viable backup childcare options lined up, I would have pulled my daughter out right away and demanded a refund. As it stood, we felt trapped into seeing it through. When I repeatedly raised concerns with the administration - specifically about the counselors' attire and its clear influence on the kids, proposing a straightforward solution like staff uniforms or basic dress code guidelines, I was stunned by their dismissive response. They refused to act, citing fears of "getting sued" if they enforced any standards. This struck me as a weak excuse; a simple, neutral uniform policy could have preserved professionalism and consistency without inviting controversy, yet they opted for inaction over prioritizing positive role modeling for the children entrusted to them. Overall, this experience shattered our trust in the program. What was once a summer highlight has left lasting negative effects we're still navigating months later, alongside deep hesitation about ever returning. Families paying premium rates rightfully expect accountability, consistency, and genuine investment in quality - not apparent corner-cutting that undermines the entire experience. Sadly, the second year fell disastrously short of the high standard set by the first, leaving us feeling deceived by what amounted to a classic bait-and-switch. As a business owner myself, I fully understand how tough the economy has been on everyone these past few years, and I genuinely wanted to give the program the benefit of the doubt. Cost pressures are real, and no one expects perfection in difficult times. However, the lack of accountability and unwillingness to engage seriously with constructive feedback left me no choice but to share this publicly. I tried repeatedly to resolve these matters privately, but my concerns were not taken seriously. I hope this review helps other families make informed decisions and perhaps encourages the camp to restore the high standards that made our first year so special. Regrettably, I don't think we will be returning.

The art teacher here, Mrs. P, is awesome! She put together an art lesson for our Girl Scouts, which they all totally enjoyed. Parking is a tad bit confusing. At the…read moretime I entered the school, the program had a great reputation, with teachers and staff that had years of experience at the college and in the field. My class was the first class where they took on almost twice as many students. This meant they had to cut the clinic time in half for us because they no longer had enough sites to place us at. The long time director knew this would have negative consequences for the students and for the field, and because she opposed this, she was fired. After that things really started to deteriorate and a couple long time teachers began their exit. I felt like a guinea pig for almost two years. There was an extreme lack of leadership and many students came out unprepared due to not having enough clinic time. The only real message Trocaire College gave me is that they ONLY care about money. I got a good degree, and afterwards a good job, but for the price you pay you might as well go to a community college where you'll pay 1/3 the price. save yourself the trouble.

This is a very old campus and was outgrown in the 60-70s. Thats when they built the North Campus in the suburbs. Much larger and newer. Houses plenty of the schools, but not all. This campus features buildings built in the late 1800 and early 1900s. Old stone. Brick. Beautiful outside walkways. Huge hallways. Marble floors and stairs worn down by years of kids steps. The history here is deep and takes us back to a time when the school was not yet in the State system. It was founded by Millard Fillmore, who was then a local lawyer. He went on to be president. The school went on to be the largest in the NY State system. This campus still houses the schools of architecture and nursing. Future dentists go to class on this campus. There are plenty of students who live in this area and take busses between the campuses. On summer days you'll see students all around here on the lawns and benches. More recently, the campus has new outdoor spaces to attract people outside in warmer months. There is a UB Stampede bus, shuttle, and Metro Rail to connect this campus to UB North and UB downtown. Also, it's more affordable to live near this campus than the other two campuses. Many park on property when using the rail line. A couple downsides to the campus are the wind and spread of buildings. The wind can be a bit much at times because it's at the highest elevation in the city. This isn't to say much for a flat city, but it does matter when winds come off Lake Erie. I wish buildings were closer, so that walks wouldn't feel far. Maybe a small brew pub on campus would allow for libations to help foster that Live, Work, and Play feel of UB2020.

However, this has not directly impacted students as of yet. Approved classes being offered are dwindling, but each department has their strengths and weaknesses. I had no issue getting courses to complete my Communication and Business degree due to some finagling with my department chairs. If I did not have that relationship, I would not have been able to fulfill both my degree paths. In addition, I was a transfer student, and it was not completely explained to me that I would have to take 2 religion, and 2 philosophy courses on top of fulfilling all of the capstones. That information should be communicated far better than it was, as I am still writhing because that cost me an additional $20K. I guess that is why the gentleman that put my transfer package together is no longer with Canisius. Overall, most of my professors were stellar; specifically Dr. Dahlberg, Dr. Braunscheidel, and Dr, Haselswerdt. As well, I loved all of my courses with Prof. Nancy Lynch, Prof. Rick English, and Dr. Foster. Having those amazing educators/professors on staff saved me from transferring again after an initial disappointing semester with a few adjuncts and tenured staff. I can only speak with ethos to the Communication, Business & Political Science Department, but if you are thinking of attending Canisius in one of those concentrations, do it. As well, the Athletic teams are stellar. I even did crew for a bit, but found I did not have the time to dedicate to it. So, if you are thinking of attending Canisius for athletics. Definitely do as well. As well, take Business Ethics PHI242 (it fulfills a business & philosophy requirement, but also the ethics attribute) with Dr. Sean Donaghue-Johnston (he is an adjunct, but let me tell you, and amazing one). He's absolutely fantastic, you'll learn a lot, and expand your mind a bit, which never actually hurts :) I've taken one star off for the transfer process, and the $ issues, but feel I received a stellar education due to the folks I mentioned above. Go Griffs!!

Saw what appeared to be security guards, but no police officers....not sure what's up with that? I thought Canisius University had a police department? Says online they have a police department at Canisius University. I saw some people that appeared to be security guards at the game, but there were only a few of them. There were a bunch of fights breaking out at the game and after...... and NO ONE HAD CONTROL of the situation! It was REALLY SCARY!!!! People were fighting, saw a door get ripped off a bathroom!!! NUTS.... I don't understand if people pay so much money to go to school here...where is the police department during a game when there are so many people and anything......LITERALLY ANYTHING could happen???!!! Heard from some friends that attend Canisius University that their entire police department has been leaving because of the Chief of Canisius's Police that got hired. Not sure if that is true or not, but I can tell you there was NO law-enforcement presence at the basketball game from a firsthand experience. I think I literally saw 1 Canisius University police officer. Pretty sad if it is true that Canisius would keep somebody like that leader of their Police Department in that position if that person is causing and driving all of the officers away from the university that are supposed to be protecting it? Makes no sense, right... Not sure who makes the decisions on brining in Police Chiefs, but I can tell you that I would not be paying to go to school there with that many problems if that is what's really going on because rumors are circulating all over the campus about it. Found all the details above out after talking to people at the game that go to the school. Anybody could've walked in there and there could've been a major problem. NO POLICE!!!!! I don't think I'm gonna be going back to anymore games there. The game was great, however I value my life!!!!
