Chilaquiles, Eggs, Beans, Potatoes
Eva C.

Not a bad choice for brunch, but I would consider it just okay. The food was decent, and it came out fast, but it wasn't warm enough in my opinion. Flavor wise, the chilaquiles were okay, the beans were okay, the potatoes were underwhelming, and the eggs were eggs! Service was friendly and fast, but again, just okay. It is located inside the Market on 8th so the vibe is dependent on how like food courts like that. I honestly didn't mind it and they had plenty of seating which I think is more important. I would come again if someone suggested it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to look for it.

Only reason I don't give them place a 5 star review is because one there was a ton of flies the day we went in and two, I made reservations on the yelp app for a table for 2 and when I got there the host looked at me like I was crazy. Another employee later told me they never check the app therefore don't waste your time making reservations. There's very few tables to choose from and the ones they have are for 2 people on so I wouldn't recommend coming here for a large group. Besides all of that the owner was SUPER NICE! The food was delicious! We enjoyed checking out the plaza and all the other little shops. Coffee and food were great! Definitely check them out if you're in the area (parking is limited so give yourself time to find parking).

Had brunch at Coleta this past Sunday with a group of friends, and let me just say--I'm already thinking about what to order next time. Everything about this place is just so good--the food, the drinks, the service, and the overall vibe. I had the steak and eggs, and it was perfect--flavorful, cooked just right, and exactly what I wanted for brunch. But let's talk about the café de olla--rich, spiced just right, and they do refills (which, if you're a coffee lover, is a major win). The service was great--friendly, accommodating, and on top of things, even with a big group. The staff really made the experience even better. Would I recommend? 100%. Would I go back? Absolutely--there's a whole menu I need to try. If you're looking for a solid brunch spot in National City, this is it.

Coleta Brunch is another one of the new vendors at the revamped Market on 8th food hall in National City. The easiest way to find them is to use the east doorway to the facility as their dining area was spread out between the first stall to the right and the sidewalk adjacent to the entrance where a menu sign was posted. Dulce, omelettes, house specials, lunch sandwiches, and sides were the categories. They close at 3 pm daily which is pretty late to conclude brunch. You checked in at the hostess stand to get your name on the waitlist. There was none at the time of my visit because a couple of small tables were open in the alcove to the right of the kitchen preparation area. From the list of 11 house specials, my choice was the Machaca + Eggs. The dish was made up of dried beef mixed with scrambled eggs, tomatoes, jalapenos, and onions. Corn tortillas and servings of house potatoes and refried beans were provided on the side. The tortillas were some of the better ones I have tasted in a while because of how warm and fresh they were from the kitchen. There was a lot of meat mixed in with the eggs. If I had to nitpick, then I wish the plate was completed filled with the scramble, potatoes, and beans instead of open space along the bottom edge which you can see in my photo. I don't eat brunch very often, let alone one with Mexican cuisine, however my dining experience at Coleta Brunch was positive enough for a four star rating.

I've been seeing Coleta on Instagram for a while now and finally made our way there with my wife and son for a late breakfast. The restaurant is located in the Market in 8th, which is cool since everyone can get what they want if they don't feel like having a Mexican breakfast. I ordered the Chilorio Benedict. The meat was delicious; I think it was a cochinita pibil, or something similar. The sope used for the benedict was super tough, kind of hard to cut through, even after I asked for a steak knife, which made the table wobble a lot and my cafe de olla to spill. Cafe de olla was delicious by the way, I like mine in the sweeter side and it was perfect. The wife ordered machaca which she enjoyed and my son ordered pancakes. After he paid the dad tax, the pancakes were decent, definitely not pancake house quality, but it's a Mexican restaurant so they were good enough. Over all I found Coleta enjoyable and the food was pretty good. The server was nice and attentive and if I'm in the area I would go back.

We came here Sunday morning and there was a long waitlist, Make sure to come in early to reserve a seat! I ordered the Coleta's Benedict, the portions were a little on the small side but it was worth the wait. The eggs were cooked to perfection and the sauce made it even better. It's a relatively new place, the servers were a bit over the place but that's ok. The servers did their best and were really kind.

I want to give this place more of a 3.75 rating. We stopped by closer to the closing time and they only do take away orders. We ordered; torta de chilaquiles verdes with scrambled eggs and a torta de chilaquiles with chipotle and added sunny side up eggs and chorizo. It did take a bit for the order to come out, so we decided to walk around. Both tortas came with potatoes that were a little on the overcooked side and tasted like they didn't have seasoning. The chilaquiles sauces both tasted good. The torta itself comes with beans, avocado and purple onion. The one we ordered with the chorizo and sunny side up eggs was on the greasier side, this could be because of the added items. My only suggestion would be to make the sauces a little bit spicy. We asked for a side of hot sauce but it took away from the other sauces.

This place is in a corner of a food market. The Coletas benedict was really good. Would definitely get it again. The chilaquiles were okay - Nothing to rave about but not bad. The coleta french toast was a disappointment - the bolillo bread just doesnt do it for french toast. Would skip. Kids grilled cheese was decent.

For the last week, I tried calling the number on their IG to make a reservation but the phone kept on ringing with no voicemail. I'm not sure how you are supposed take-outs if nobody is picking up the phone. We gambled and came on Sunday around 10 am and thank goodness, we were seated right away. The line started forming around 10:30 am. We were greeted and asked if we wanted any beverages by a different person. Drinks came fairly quick. We got our orders in. One dish came out first and we had to wait for the other. We ordered: * Cajeta French Toast * Chilorio eggs benedict * Coleta's benedict The food was good. I tried to asked if the potatoes can be extra crispy but was told that they were pre-made. We saw our server at the beginning and end of the meal when we were almost ready for our check. We could've used a water and/or coffee refill in the middle. I wish we had a fly portable fan as seen on another photo because there were flies and we kept on swatting them. The place is in Market on 8th so you will have to find street parking.

I really enjoyed my meal here. The ambiance was great walking in and I was surprised to realize Coleta was also a part of the food hall. Nonetheless, it was really a great dining experience, from the table setting to the last bite of my meal. The lady helping me was super friendly. She recommended the poblano chilaquiles which she described as creamy, and I loved it. I devoured everything in just a few minutes. The plating of the food elevated my experience ~ all the colors on my plate were aesthetically pleasing and made me excited for my meal. Prices are also very reasonable for San Diego. I am looking forward to coming back with friends!

Strawberries and cream pancake

I loveddddd their torta de chilaquiles. I had green chilaquiles and they were delicious not on the spicy side. The red sauce they give you on the side was delicious!!!!! It's a lot so you can share it. The torta is accompanied by potatoes that are crispy. I also ordered the strawberries pancake since they looked delicious. Again it was a big portion and they even placed strawberries in the middle of the pancakes not just on top. Parking does suck and it's only for 30 minutes. The waitress just advised to check at the 30 to make sure I don't have a ticket. It was one waitress for the section but she was very attentive and polite. It is located inside market on 8th so there's more options for food or drinks if you'd like to walk around. Paid about 40 bucks.

We were greeted by the hostess of Coleta at Market on 8th, so we decided to try it out. This was my first time seeing this vendor at the food court. It was early, calm, and there was soothing music coming from the main dining area. We were sat just outside of the restaurant. I ordered the steak and eggs paired with homestyle potatoes and corn tortillas. Service was top notch and the food met my expectations for flavor and presentation. Good brunch spot in National City.

My boyfriend and I happened to stop by to grab a quick cafecito, this place seemed really good! I had the Jugo Verde to drink which was AMAZING! I love the sweetness to it. My Bf ordered the café de olla y Que rico!!! For food/sweet treat we got the cajeta French toast and omg! The best!! I definitely need to come back and try the other breakfast items. Also the staff/server was so kind and very helpful This place is great 100/10

I'm waiting.... I'll put La Lomitas rolled tacos up against anybody's, ANYBODY'S! Covered in freshly made, still green guacamole, tomatoes, and shredded cheese, these bad boys are smackin'! $9.25 for 5 rolled tacos isn't terrible, but you might as well phone a friend on some Who Wants to Be a Millionaire type ish and order that 12 pack for $16.99. Ya feel me? If you don't, you will. And don't forget to peep out all of the accoutrements at the salsa bar-4 different salsas, pickled red onions, limes, radishes, and hot carrots, all gratis my amigo. Say whaaaaaat!? Yes, they kindly ask that you don't go overboard and request you take only 2 salsas per item, but just don't be greedy and you should be fine. The salsa bar was super clean and the salsas were delicious. I've also had carne asada fries here (always ask for extra crispy) and they're delicious as well. If you're not asking for your carne asada fries to be extra crispy at any taco shop, you're just doing it wrong. Enjoy my friends! Thanks to La Lomita and crew for coming through again. I've had their tacos and carne asada fries in the past which was delicious as well.

There are a few tables inside plus a bigger table, but we chose to sit outside on the patio. It was clean, comfortable, and the weather made it easy to eat outside. Cabeza: $3.69. Super juicy and packed with flavor. If you like cabeza, this one hits. It came with onions and cilantro and didn't need much else. Lengua: $4.38. Lengua is usually my go-to, and this one was cooked really well. Not greasy at all, which I appreciated. The texture was right, and the flavor was solid, especially with extra lime. They come with a creamy green salsa that isn't at the salsa bar, and it pairs really well with the pork. Probably the safest order here.
