In 2023 we needed to make some modifications to my system but Carolina Comfort was TOO BUSY to address my modifications to the SYSTEM THAT THEY SOLD AND INSTALLED! Too busy to take care of their own 9+ year customer! So now that the system out of warranty by a year I asked them to evaluate it for repair and alternatively to quote a new heatpump. Given the chance to sell me a new YORK system (bottom of the ratings) they proposed to repair my system without properly pressure testing for leaks or testing the compressor. This was after they baselessly claimed that it had probably overheated and would likely only last a year or so, and stating that the unit would only last about 3-4 years max. I am a retired degreed engineer and licensed to purchase refrigerants by the EPA so after I challenged their report they withdrew their offers to do any work for me. Good Riddance!

I said "why didn't some one call me, I just wasted two hours without even the courtesy of the person telling me he'd be late?" The receptionist apologized, but it wasn't her fault, it's the fault of the technician not having the courtesy to call, or the company for not training staff to be courteous and to not waste people's valuable time.

At the time, I didn't realize this was an astronomical amount for this replacement but my neighbors told me afterwards that I was taken advantage of because this part generally was under $50.00. I contacted the business and was told that the part was $400 and the rest was labor. I complained about amount and was offered a service warranty for a 20+ year old system, which I did not need. I also was told that the item had a lifetime warranty, which I did not ask for. I would NEVER had agreed to replacement of this part had I known how much they were going to charge me. I would have gotten a second opinion. After extensive conversation with Patrick Olszewski (field service manager), he said I would receive a refund in the amount of $250.00, which I have yet to receive. This conversation took place on 9/3/2026. I have spoken with several different people in this organization trying to get this resolved. I received an invoice (not itemized) that says I was due a refund but didn't get it. Think twice before doing business with this company. ADDENDUM: I have finally received reimbursement.

While also doing the service call for the heater pilot light so I would have hot water. Which was a modest price service call, while giving the pilot light instructions given if it happens again. What was very nice was that a service contract from a previous owner is still in effect and they do not force "x" visits a year.
