Always tasty food, great service, did not eat there. But the take out was convenient

Okay so I have to be cognizant of the fact that this was my first time trying the food. So, I can't say everything they serve is bad but what I had today was AWEFUL. The staff were pleasant and the guy on the register was bragging about being "The Best" so, I was hopeful.. I'm not from the area and asked where was a great place to pick up lunch and someone recommended this place. I ordered the blackened shrimp pasta with a large blue raspberry lemonade. Neither one was worth the 30 minute wait or the money spent. First and foremost there was so much oil formed around, on top and all throughout the container that I had to keep it inside the bag so as not to get oil everywhere. Next, it was too salty and there was ENTIRELY too much cheese throughout the pasta. Alfredo sauce is supposed to be smooth and creamy, not oily and with so much cheese when you pick up a fork full and it looks like picking up a hot slice of extra cheese pizza that has a gooey cheese pull to it. Just wrong. Then, the noodles were overcooked. Pasta is supposed to be al dente, not soft and mushy and last but certainly not least was the blue raspberry lemonade. I don't know what I was thinking ordering that but... When I say it was nothing but blue colored sugar water, I'm not exaggerating. I couldn't drink it because it was so overly sweet. I even added it to my Stanley bottle that was halfway full of water and ice and it was still too sweet. So no, it was not a good first impression and first impressions are lasting with me. I ordered through DoorDash and order arrived surprisingly quick and was fresh. I did order a Caesar salad and noted to add grilled chicken and to provide additional Caesar dressing. I got the order and had vinaigrette dressing (no Caesar dressing) for my Caesar salad. The salad itself was pretty good. There was a 5.95 up charge to add not even a hand full of chicken to the already $11 salad. Looking back over the menu a grilled chicken salad is $16. However I wasn't sure it would be a Caesar salad. I'd try them again but would go in to the establishment to maximize my experience. read more

Today I tried Colemans Lunchbox. I expected the bulk of the lunch rush to have subsided by my arrival at 1:30p, but the dining area was packed and it took another 20 minutes in line to work my way to the counter. This spot is small but brightly colored and well organized. I was pleasantly greeted by the owner (Rhonda) and warned that there would be a "little bit of a wait" for food. And what a wait. It took 55 minutes for my order number to be called. Everything looked good, but I was now 30 minutes late returning from lunch and didn't have an opportunity to eat. I guess future visits to Coleman's will have to wait for non-work days. read more

Im very disappointed in my experiences here. I've came in there a couple times for Uber Eats and every time the woman at the register is rude. She makes nasty faces at the delivers, and doesn't seem to care about the orders. My suggestion they cancel deliveries if it can't be handled correctly with good customer services and politeness. The food smells good, and everyone in the back cooking is very kind. I've heard good things, but the service we have been receiving has turned my family and I away, as well as other delivers. read more

I will admit to being totally sucked to trying this place after watching the viral video. It looked sooo delicious. It also helps that this is a local family owned business which I always love to support. After watching the videos, we decided to pop by and get a dish to try. I had to pick up DD from work at three. We put our order in at 2:45 (this is important later). My grandson asked for a burger and a sweet tea and I ordered the "Chef's Pasta". It's a simple place with maybe half a dozen tables so you can eat in but the majority of their business seems to be take out. The lady who took our order was very nice. Now comes the reason I mentioned the time. This is not a fast food place and that's good so don't expect your food to be ready right away. Our order was ready at 3:23. It was well worth the wait! OMG, our order looked just as good as the food in the video and the taste was top tier. Grandson's hamburger was thick and cooked perfectly. Make sure you get your condiments since it only had onion, tomato and lettuce. It was served with seasoned fries. The burger was thick and juicy. The fries were good with lots of seasoning. He had it finished in six blocks. My pasta was amazing and enough to feed two (or more). Loaded with shrimp, chicken and sausage in a creamy sauce that was perfectly seasoned. From what I have read this place has been slammed since the video and given the quality of the food I doubt that's going to change. Was I late picking up my DD? Yes. Don't use the restroom. Despite having a massive sign over the restrooms saying "restrooms" in multiple colors and all caps, the very plain tiny sign on the front door which is mixed with similar looking information panels says "no public restrooms" and if you use them, they will deny you service and do it quite rudely. At least that's how they treated me. Also it's really noisy in there I could barely hear the clerk. read more

Knew I was in the right place when I read their health rating of 100%. I'm one of those people who actually check. Ordered a Philly cheesesteak on a hoagie roll and a side salad. Good choice on my part. It took a few minutes to get our order because it's freshly made and the sandwich was ample and delicious. The salad was fresh and contained a boiled egg, nice surprise. They seemed to do a lot of take-out business but we ate there as it was pleasant without Fox on the TV. We leave if Fox is on because we are thinking people. Today my office tried Coleman's for lunch. Everyone ordered pasta dishes can I can't review anything other than that. I'be been searching for a delicious Cajun pasta since coming back from New Orleans and this hit the spot! All of the protein options for the pasta were seasoned perfectly. One of my co workers ordered the salmon pasta and it was a large piece of salmon and she said it was very good. The portions are large and we can't wait to try other menu items! Found out about Coleman's from TikTok. The salmon and pasta was absolutely delicious. Kudos to the chef and his supporting staff. However, the dark-dark complexion man taking the orders will ruin the business with his rude demeanor. He has poor customer service skills and an overall unwillingness to attend to the customers. He acts as if he hates his job and does not want to work there. He needs to be retained. He was rude when I called ahead and after i spent money and asked for an additional clam shell to share my food; he wanted to lecture me on cost. The ambiance was fine with me. Best food I've ever had in my life. Hands down. I got the hot lemon pepper wings, and the honey bun bacon cheeseburger. For some reason I didn't realize the burger actually had honey buns, but they did and it was fantastic. For the wings, I'm not much of a wing guy, but these changed my mind. Fall off the bone wings, super flavorful. The food is made to order right there. I can't believe this place doesn't have a line out the door, because they absolutely should. We arrived to the restaurant at 1:45, we heard great things about the food from other locals. We waited in line for 10 mins, and the lady who was taking orders was nice and started they had a 30-45 minute wait, we thought it was fine and placed our order. We waited over an hour and a half for our food. We understand that things happen. But the cook is cleaning the grill every time in between orders, and it's made to order, We ordered 2 pastas, and had to wait over an hour and a half. Very very good home cooked soul food. My wife and I came in for lunch with our toddler, we got the Chicken Philly lunch combo, and 10 hot honey mustard wings, plus a side of Okra. Man it was delicious! My wife said it was the best chicken Philly she has ever had and we from up north Love supporting local small black owned businesses!!
