I was in quite a pickle and these guys really helped me out! My car was burgled and my key fob,…read morecontaining the computer chip necessary to start and unlock my car, was included in the items stolen. As if the situation wasn't already crappy enough, this was the only key I had to my car. After searching the Internet tirelessly, it seemed I only had two choices to get my car running again. Choice #1: Have my car towed to the nearest dealership. Choice #2: Find a locksmith that not only had the equipment to program the computer chip in the fob, but that was also willing to come to where my car was. The closest dealership happened to be in Springfield and I was in a small river town in Iowa. Choice 1 was going to get expensive fast! Choice 2 seemed to be the best option but the locksmith in my town didn't have the equipment to program the chip. So back to the Internet I went and there I found A-1 Security & Lock Service in Quincy. Not only were they willing to make the 45 minute drive to me, they had the equipment to cut a new key and program the computer chip as well!! It actually took less that 45 minutes! They were professional and didn't charge me an arm and a leg for their services. The situation I was in could easily have cost me some SERIOUS CASH! In upwards of $500 or even more. With their cost of $1 a mile and cutting 2 new keys and programming them I spent $190. However I did purchase the 2 key blanks with blank computer chips in them from Amazon which I do not suggest doing. There is a chance that the aftermarket key you purchase from the Internet will not program. Then you will be left with a useless key and the charges for A-1's services and the amount of purchasing another key that will work. A-1 is able to get the key you need, so just buy yours from them. I got lucky that mine did work. A-1 was professional, on time and like superheroes to me in my situation. I hope this review can help someone out there in the same situation because I know there are others out there trying to figure out what to do.

I will start by saying, I realize that I am the one who locked my keys in the Jeep. Although…read moregreatly distracted, it was all my fault. With that being said, the serious lack of urgency with the pug in the car was totally unacceptable to me. The locksmith showed up very quick. I had told him on the phone that my dog was in the car so when he was there within ten minutes I was happy. When it took him over a half hour to unlock a door, I was no longer happy. He was unable to push the lock with one of his tools and ended up making a key. After determining the numbers needed to make the key, he had the numbers wrong and had to go through the process again. I mentioned a few times about it getting warm for the dog. He didn't respond and his laid back, slow approach made me use every ounce of patience I had. He even stopped and gave very detailed directions to someone. Canton is not big enough to need very detailed directions to get anywhere! I am thankful that he finally did get the door open. I also now have an extra key that doesn't have a thick end so it will fit in my card holder (after asking for the key he made and being a little confused on why he didn't offer it and pocketed it instead.) My entire experience in Canton was odd and all I did was stop and get gas. It could almost equate to a Stephen King novel. I don't think I will stop there again when driving through the area.

Another locksmith who I called when I didn't receive an answer from On my way literally told me that he would try to scam me and that he would break my locks and when he called me back, he tried to do just that! Thankfully I passed on him, I can break a window cheaper than that! Immediately after posting this review the man called me back and told me that he was going to contact his lawyers and sue me for slander if I didn't remove this review. Do NOT do business with this guy, like the other locksmith warned me, he will not only try to scam you, but will then threaten you for placing an honest review on Yelp!
