First off I want to say if you are looking for an honest realtor that will fight for you no matter what, DO NOT work with Fong Tidwell. Working with her for almost 2 years, I can say she is only interested in her own self gain. She intermediated between a deal with a potential buyer without consent to try and dissuade the buyer because the price for her was too low, nearly ruining my mother's chance for retirement after running the business for 40 years. She is very unprofessional and will speak ill of you behind your back. She told my mother her children were USELESS! When we are the owners of the business just trying to sell the business so that my mother could retire. To this day I still think of this woman as an evil person, the likes of which I will never do business with again, and hope nobody will have the displeasure of also dealing with... PERIOD. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Let me preface this by saying my current landlord is raising my rent almost 200% over the next few months, and is selling the property, which has caused me to look for other lodgings, so I was looking at more affordable areas. Also, going in, I knew my credit was not perfect but it was not bottom barrel either, so I happened upon a few properties on a few different websites (zumper, zwillow, trulia, etc...) and they were managed or being represented by this rental agency. I found one that I really liked and since I had the qualifications, I applied. I am very transparent, and understood that my credit was not stupendous, but I have been working on it, and formerly worked for a company that was involved in a major information leak, and some items were opened fraudulently in my name. I have been working to get them removed and let the rental agency know that and even provided a letter that was supplied to me by that employer after the hack happened. All other qualifications were met, and I was willing to put down a doubled deposit and/or a few month's rent in advance to show that I was serious about renting the property. I have a stable job and work from home, so I thought it ideal. One of their associates reached out me a day after I submitted my application to ask some questions, to which I answered promptly. I waited, and then on the 4th day, I reached out to check on the status, to which I was told I was approved by the homeowner (see screenshots). I was elated, and relieved and was about to call them to find out next steps, when a property manager by the name of Sherrie called me. She said that my approval was a "mistake" and that the homeowner actually denied my application. She proceeds to ask me "have you seen what is on your credit report?" to which I replied yes and that I had a copy of the background check that they had run on me. She seemed shocked and surprised by this, and went on to say that she had been on vacation and some her underlings had been trying to take care of things while she was away and she had just gotten back and that it was a miscommunication. Really? Nice training you have there. She also went on to say that the homeowner was worried about getting the rent on time. I have been at my current address for 5 years, and never missed one single payment and had they actually talked to my landlord, they would have known that. Not to mention I could have given them bank statements showing one account having at least 12,000 bucks in it. The landlord would have been paid, and promptly. Guess they judged a book by its cover, instead of reading the back too. SMH. Needless to say, I was crestfallen and just could not believe the incompetency shown here, not to mention she was not apologetic in any way that one of her employees made such a monumental mistake. As if home hunting is not stressful enough. Maybe I dodged a bullet, so I am putting this up so others can beware. I would not recommend this agency, and be warned that most of the other agencies are in cahoots with them, because Sherrie advised that if I wanted to apply to any other agency to contact them first so they could send my application over to them. Why would I trust you to do that after telling me a got approved when I didn't? Your office cannot seem to get simple messages right so how could I trust you from this point on? Additionally, I found out that they never reached out to any of my references or supervisor (I checked) so I suppose they saw my 640 score and dismissed me immediately. Not even sure if they really told the homeowner, because judging by the texts, they were actually interested in me as a candidate. I would not be surprised if they told her I had just withdrawn my application. SO be warned. This place seems a bit shady and at the very least not thorough and gives false hope. read more

We were shown a house but when we went back with an inspector it smelled of cat spray so bad I thought I would vomit! I had cats too. They had obviously aired it out before we came the first time!!! They said the cupboards in the pictures in the garage were taken out because they smelled so bad! First, I have seen several realty companies that show or advertise things that aren't on the property. One said a pool but it was filled in with dirt, this one no cabinets. When I went to realty school this was something the realty company could be held liable for false advertising. Not that you can trust any realtor as they say they are in the top few on the dishonest list, used car salesmen number one and lawyers close second. I have been working with Janet Olmsted on purchasing a home in the area. Due to unforeseen and horrible circumstances, I was unable to purchase the home. When calling to receive a cancellation form, Janet personally attacked me and my personal situation with my soon-to-be ex-husband. She claimed that I seemed "just fine" the last time she saw me during the walk through. Sometimes people have to back out of deals...it does not give anyone the right to belittle you and shame you! That's part of being a real estate agent! No agent should EVER shame you for leaving an abusive relationship all because the house was in escrow. Not okay! Hey Yelpers, if your a person who likes updated information on your concerns or questions Coldwell may not be your best 1st choice. I know there is not a ton of rental company's , to rent from in this small town, so you might be stuck renting from this facility. I've experienced some good and bad with this agency, but it seems like they lack communication, which "Everyone" claims to make sure they give you the best communication. He is kind, generous and patient, he is honest and walks his clients through the process of buying or selling and is by their side every step of the way. He is my realtor and even when we were done with everything we could do during the purchase, he called to check in just to tell us there was still no news on what we were waiting for but everything was still on track for our close date. He made time for us in his already busy schedule to show us houses that we wanted to see and once we chose our new home, he showed it to us as many times as we wanted until we had keys in hand. I have to preface this review by saying that I am from Ridgecrest and love this town. I am also familiar with lots of people in the community so it's tricky to tell the truth of my experience without potentially burning some bridges. I called this company last minute while in town to schedule a viewing of an apartment. They graciously fit me in. I liked what I saw but wasn't very far into the apartment hunt process so I waited a little under a week to get back to them that I wanted to move forward with the lease (totally knowing the apartment might be off the market by then; turns out lucky for me it wasn't). That's how a month of slow communication, misinformation, and stress began. The company has been going through management software and staffing changes. This resulted in at least 2-3 days between each email communication (which I always had to initiate) and almost never reaching someone by phone (I long gave up on reaching the original agent who showed me the apartment as she was not once available at the office-- and I had to ask for her email address). Sometimes even the voicemail boxes I was directed to by the receptionist weren't taking new messages... I realize that I may have set the tone by waiting to ask to start the leasing process, but it seems basic business sense that once a customer communicates that she wants to lease a property, the company should take the lead in moving forward quickly and efficiently. After three weeks, multiple calls, voicemails, emails, and different agents, I finally was emailed their online lease only to find that the signing service erased my signatures two days later. Then I got an automated message saying the agent handling my account had gone on summer vacation-- through the date I was going to move in. I called the company (and was put on hold twice-- once in mid-sentence) and asked for a copy of the lease signed by both parties before moving forward and whether a family member could pick up the keys. The agent new to my lease said yes. Then she sent an emailing recanting on both. I emailed them to cancel the leasing process, and then got an automated email two days later saying rent was due. Finally, I came in person to the office, telling my story and asking for a printed confirmation that the lease was cancelled (and as I hadn't put in a deposit, shouldn't ever have begun). The three agents in the office at the time were very kind and took responsibility-- which pretty much encapsulates my entire experience: mostly kind people who unfortunately were just not doing good business. I switched to going through Vaughn Realty and am VERY happy with my experience. They are also more thorough in their rental history checks (which I'm hoping will make for even better neighbors). In the future I might possibly try Coldwell Banker again... But very tentatively, only if I really love the property, if I am physically in town, and if I have time on my hands in case I have to initiate communication again. I would also switch companies again much sooner if I encountered problems like I did with this process. read more

Called one morning to find out if I could see property (505 commercial). Woman told me SHE DIDNT KNOW WHERE THE KEYS WERE and that she called me back. Two hours later I drove by the place, unintentionally, and decided to stop in. The woman made an apt for me the next morning to view the property at 10am. The next morning at 9:53am she CANCELLED ON ME (notice the time, I was already at the property). she still didn't have the keys still (it was being vacuumed) and she'd call me back. Four hours later I hear nothing. So I call again. Turns out, the owner already made a back door deal (obviously without telling anyone because they thought it was for sale and kept telling me it was for sale) and sold the property. Another woman told me she'd show me another property. It was listed as "417&419 sanders". I'm not from here. I don't know there is a north and south sanders. When I put into maps the above, it took me to an address. Called at our scheduled apt time (3pm) and the woman I was supposed to meet with was at the office still. SHE COULDN'T FIND THE KEYS (twice coldwell lost keys?) And had to call the owner. she had told me it had a washer and dryer on the side.... false. The owner came with the keys, I asked if there was a w/d on side, he said no. So I told him I didnt need to see the property. The woman I was supposed to meet with never called back (ill assume the owner told her) to apologize for inaccurate description or to see if I wanted to look at another place. I put my original application for a house to rent about two weeks ago. I was told that I would be notified whether or not I was approved, I was never called. I then transferred my application to another available property, waited a few days, still no call. Finally, I reached out today and was told that my credit score was not high enough and they wouldn't even consider showing our application to any homeowners without a co-signer. Apparently if your credit isn't between a 700 and 750, you might as well look elsewhere. Would've been nice to know two weeks ago, before I gave them my $70 and wasted so much of my time. read more

I hate to even give this woman a one-star review. Think twice before selecting Janet Olmsted as your agent! My daughter was planning on buying a home and had Janet as her real estate agent and when she had to back out of the house deal (due to personal reasons), this lady was extremely unprofessional as to how she handled it. She completely crossed the line from what was said to her, regarding her marriage, etc. It is absolutely NONE of her business to even comment on her personal life. Who does she think she is? Her voice got all nasty and said how "her marriage was just fine on Friday and there is no way it could change by Sunday". Maybe someone should question her marriage? I understand she was upset she didn't make a deal with selling that house and how she stated this is the second time this particular house fell through was certainly NOT my daughter's fault. Who has time for guilt trips?? Grab a tissue Janet and get over it! For being in this business for years, you should know how things that are out of your control can happen! I met Janet myself during one of the visits to the house and she was extremely rude to me, she looked very nervous as if she was hiding something. She wasn't able to answer the simple questions we had regarding the house she was selling. Soon after that phone call to cancel the deal, she then emails my daughter and not only did she cross that line AGAIN, she's now harassing her. I personally want to thank you for that email Janet, we have not only witnesses to your call but we also have documentation to prove the violation. You are making this very easy for us! She is absolutely no asset but in fact an embarrassment to this company! Avoid her! We will also be filing an Ethics complaint with the State of California. read more

After careful consideration in whether or not we should even write this review, we decided it would be best to let someone know of how incompetent and inconsistent this location could be. We submitted an application to the company with interest in multiple properties as we are unfamiliar with the area and are moving here for my husbands new employment also, we currently live more than 4 hours away. We were told to submit an application and then we could see properties we asked if we would be able to see properties that same day was told yes we could. Lie #1: So, once submitted, the application could be pulled and then submitted to multiple properties. ((Low and behold that was incorrect information and this was not the first time getting incorrect information the lies and deceit just flow naturally from each person you speak to on the phone they make up rules as you go (all except jinny who was extremely professional and didn't commit to anything she was unsure about and for that we would like to exclude her from the group of habitual liars) anyhow we paid the fees associated with the applications submitted any other information needed)) Lie #2: We called and asked for a update on our application and was told it would take 24-72 hours for them to submit and then go from there (which was not previously stated to us when submitted) so we waited the time that had been quoted to us (not just time pulled out of thin air one of your reps told us that it would take 24-72 hours) So we the then called for a status update on the pending application and once again Lie#3: Well on your. application it says that you have pets so thats why its taking so long... Ma'am i am allergic to all pet dander I have no pets I marked no pets we downloaded a copy of the submitted applications what do you mean? Well, thats whats taking so long and there are two other applications submitted for the property you selected so yeah... I explained that we were interested in multiple properties and you were going to figure out our cap (income cap cant go over this amount) then get back to us on properties within that cap... who told you that?! that's not here IN YOUR FILE I only have you down for said property... Okay is there someone i can speak to about this that can actually help me is there a sales rep available because its becoming ridiculous and at this point we need facts and clearity... person states I totally understands then transfers directly to sales rep voicemail left a message hung up. At this point we were completely fed up with the situation Next day same thing was given the runaround asking questions that have been already answered on the application and still getting nowhere constantly transferred to voicemails and receiving no contact in regards to messages left with sales reps amary until we decided to reach out their regional manager J.P. due to lack of communication and blatant disregard for time once again im 4 hours away I at this point need to set up time to take away from work and school to view properties and drive up there because my husband is currently up there working 16 days 6 days a week. I get a call after leaving a message J.P from amary who was extremely unhelpful rude crast and just down right nasty like someone had spit in her coffee and she peg me as the culprit. Constantly being dismissive to my needs, underhanded comments talking over me just being "ghetto" for someone some of the thing said were as follows: "well you can figure that out yourself" "welp your husband can do it hes u here right what's the problem?" "oh well the property wants this and so no" "who told you that no" " that's just not how its done so no" the whole conversations tone was that's a you problem, not a we problem, all while in the same breath talking over me interrupting my statements and its already frustrating not getting answers over that phone then i finally have someone on the phone and their being just as rude i had enough of the tomfoolery and asked to part ways we don't need to pursue the relationship the lack of professionalism is beyond piss poor even trying to get clarity was like trying to snatch a raw chicken from a alligators mouth never again read more

I would not recommend Cold well at all to manage your property. They managed my moms place and it has been a nightmare. I don't think background checks were done. They just let a woman in who destroyed my moms place. There are broken windows, holes in the walls, trash everywhere. My mother is 81 years old and she did not need this in her life. They have not even returned her phone calks. Please protect your property by not letting cold well bankers manage it. read more

I have experience both renting and buying a house through Coldwell. Renting was a bit of a nightmare. I was from out of town and set up an appointment with a property manager, Michelle, to see some houses. She took us around to the houses without a problem though just seemed generally annoyed the entire time. I settled on one house and wanted to put in an application. The manager promptly tells me some other guy is also interested in putting an application in which I didn't really think was relevant since I was putting in mine at that moment. Overall, I was not impressed with her; very rude and acted like I was wasting her time. Finally got into the house which was disgusting from sitting so long without a tenant (dirt and dust everywhere from poor insulation in the house around the windows and doors). It took her until the day I moved in (which was several weeks after the application) to realize it needed to be cleaned. She had a woman call me two days later saying she could come clean the house but I'd already done it just so I could move in. I was never given a list of utilities to switch over for the house (so I had to call around to figure it out for myseld) nor did I have a phone number for the property manager or just the office to reach them in case of an emergency. Living here was ok until I was never notified that the property manager changed and got locked out once or twice with no way to contact anyone (they're open 7 days a week therefore don't have a 24 hours line to reach anyone competent). Finally, I had a huge leak in the roof but couldn't get a hold of anyone but some random realtor who had to call an emergency plumber. As the end of my lease came up I started at houses and found one through a Coldwell realtor. The process of working with the realtor, Carolyn Kent, was relatively painless and it was nice to work with her. As I'm going to move out of the rental house I had it cleaned per their moveout instructions but when my deposit came back they had taken most of it. When I inquired as to why I was told the property manager had had the house cleaned. When I told her I had done that she said she hadn't known that at the time and refused to give back the deposit for her mistake. Overall, a pretty bad experience with this company and beware of their reviews, especially on Facebook; they had their employees give the company 5 stars and review themselves to up the average rating. I presume that the company is making more money than it knows what to do with. There is no "hunger" for a sale, It appears that the agent I dealt with is either extremely 1. lazy, 2. stupid 3. can not be bothered to carry out a transaction for a low buying price. I Called on a property for sale, low price land. tried to get some info on the area and asked for an accurate map/plot map to show the extent of the area for sale. I was told " you have to put in an offer, then contact the county within 10 days to get your own map. if you don't like it you can cancel the sale" ! So It is like Obama care. You can see what's there after you buy it! I don't think so! Very frustrating . I wonder how many other sellers are confused as to why their property is not selling. Sellers beware. ! I will be contacting the owner directly to inform them of the situation. I will also follow up with head office. I doubt anything will be done after reading the other reviews! read more

Coldwell is not worth your time. Any apartments controlled by them are poorly managed. If there is a problem expect a month plus to get it fixed and if you fix yourself, forget about reimbursement. When you move in expect everything their staff to take their time and be at least 30 minutes late for any meetings. After that they will never take time to see you. Their bookkeeping is archaic and filled with mistakes. They have contractors to take care of repairs that will not come out for weeks and then show up late. When you move out they will try to show the apartment with out notice then show up late leaving you to show your own apartment. Most appliances are ancient and inefficient. As for home buying, you have to watch them every step. Their agents will force buyers to make offers that inflate the prices of the area. They will collude with other agents to get this done. When they tell you not to low ball offers and they will, do not listen. Do not listen to their jargon about BRAC jobs coming to the base, because no one with an established DOD job will ever move there. My advice deal with some one who manages their own property or deal with Vaughn. read more

Too much to write and I'm not giving this company anymore of my time. Listed a house and sold it through them. As a consumer, this was a terrible experience. If you want more info, please message me. Don't use them just for the Coldwell name. That was my mistake, thinking that I would have professionals working for me. Absolutely no customer service, which seems to be obsolete in most Ridgecrest consumer services, so I can't blame them if everyone in town is on the same train. I suggest you test them before hiring. Do they call you back timely? Do they seem anxious to help, or do they make you wait for their schedule? Do they treat you like you are the customer, or do they act like they're doing you a "favor" by "accepting" your business? If you're a buyer or seller, KNOW THAT YOU CAN GET AN OUT OF AREA AGENT TO HELP YOU. The Yocals aren't always the best choice and they definitely aren't the ONLY choice. :) read more

I have to agree with the previous review. Although Coldwell had plenty of time to get our apartment ready, we stepped into one where the toilet overflowed first thing and the shower did not/does not work. We moved in 1 Feb. and only now is the problem being resolved with the shower. You must keep after them or you're concerns will be lost on them. read more
