I want to move to Hollister just to join this gym (and be neighbors with my bestie, of course)! I had a fantastic experience from the initial contact to the little "fun run" I found myself doing at the end. I reached out to CSC while planning my trip and coach Christie was very communicative and welcoming. The first class is free, which is really awesome as I'd paid $34 for the drop in I did in another city and it was very disappointing. My friend ended up wanting to join me so I sent Christie a text the night before asking if I could bring her, and she confirmed right away. We attended the Monday @ 5:30am class taught by Christie and it was great! The other class members were friendly, the session was challenging and I feel like I got a really good workout in. I hadn't planned to return on Tuesday morning, but roped my friend into coming with me again *evil laugh*. Antioco was the coach for the 5:30am class on Tuesday and we enjoyed another a**-kicking session. My shoulders and arms were toast after Monday's dumbbell bench complex and then Tuesday's handstand pushups + med ball slams! As class was wrapping up, I overheard one of the coaches talking about the 5K run they were going to do at 6:30am. Thinking it was a chill group run kind of situation, I asked if I could join them. It ended up being more of a 5K time trial kind of situation and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for letting me join you Tyler! I've been a member of CSCF for several years and I plan to continue as long as I'm able! Coach Christie and Tyler challenges you to challenge yourself and know how to cater to all body types. They are also extremely knowledgeable about the sport and have helped me tremendously improve my performance. Prior to joining CrossFit, I had never and hadn't done anything close to what CrossFit is, but the coaches helped me develop my skills and strength overtime. I love getting my workouts in a clean and beautiful box! There is no escape from improving your health. If you are serious about your health, then get ready! VAMOS! I was one of those people who got really annoyed with anyone that talked about Crossfit. I also had a ton of fear (out of my own insecurities) working out in a group class. I moved back to Hollister after ten years of being away, and there were not a ton of gym options that I was excited about. One thing led to another and I spoke with the owner of this gym and came in for an intro class with Jen. I decided to join and give it a shot. I am four classes in and every time I leave I am excited about what I accomplished that day, I feel so much more energized at work, and I am telling everybody about it. I am now one of those people I used to get annoyed at. I do the 8 AM morning class because it works with my work schedule, the classes I have been in have had 4-6 people in them. It is super nice because I am new and there is a lot for me to learn. Every single person has been so unbelievably nice and supportive. I also really love how the gym has app's for checking in, making purchases, managing your payments, logging your workouts, etc. I am really happy I decided to join this community of people. read more

This place is awesome. I'm officially addicted. It's competitive, fun, scaled to your fitness level and the people here are great. I will never work out at a typical gym again (you're wasting your money). You'll be physically challenged here from day one and it's a chance to get in the best shape of your life. I joined Cold Storage Crossfit on Halloween 2013 and since then have grown a lot during this crossfit journey through the skilled coaches (Tyler, Antioco and Christi) and supportive and encouraging community. Some movements I thought I would never achieve, like double unders, I began to get. I have so much more to learn and will always be striving for better technique, fitness and strength. My main sport is outrigger canoe paddling and I have used crossfit to grow stronger in the core and increase my endurance thru the relatively short but intense sessions. This year I achieved the height of my sport (an endurance paddle relay of 44 miles from Molokai to Oahu) and am in the greatest fitness level ever at the age of 46! Recently I had to move to another town because of work and joined a Box at that location. giving me some comparison since before now all I knew was Cold Storage. I have to say -- Cold Storage is a gem, the facilities are amazing and well organized and equipped; the WODs are creative and also traditional; the coaches are always watchful and helpful in critiquing technique; community has a culture of friendliness, motivating one another and also a selflessness -- like when you are first to the stretch bands for example, no one just gets one for themselves, they hand out one for everyone -- and vice versa when putting something away. I have found that this isn't the case everywhere. Cold Storage Crossfit got me hooked on this lifestyle of fitness -- that really becomes a part of you. read more

Cold Storage CrossFit has completely revamped my idea of what a good workout is. I decided to join a month ago to build my strength up before returning to school, and I wish I had joined sooner. I was completely clueless to what crossfit was coming into it, and thanks to Cold Storage CrossFit, I am now addicted. The instructors do such an awesome job at helping you understand and learn movements in a way that is suited for your abilities, and you never feel as if you can't do something. The quality that really made my experience so incredible, was the family like atmosphere they have there. I was intimidated to try something new, and in the past at gyms everything felt like a competition with everyone else. But since my first class the other members were nothing but welcoming and encouraging to me as a newcomer. Every workout of the day felt like a team effort whether it was a partner exercise or not. Cold Storage CrossFit is more than just a mundane workout, it is a high energy, fun, challenging way to get in the best shape of your life. It all started with a private intro class, and here I am 2 years later and in the best shape of my life.. I have gained an enormous amount of knowledge in 2 years from these coaches (Christi, tyler, and antioco). I had never touched a barbell or a kettlebell before walking through those doors. I have done things that I did not think were possible. The coaches really take the time on each individual person to help with our weaknesses, they have no problem staying after and working with you on specific movements. You can tell it's more than just a job to each and every one of them. They truly care about their members. The best part about this box, is the family that comes with it. Absolutely Amazing, Fun, Addicting, and Challenging all in One ! It's NOT just a gym, It's a fitness community full of supportive and fun loving people. You get a kick ass 1 hr workout everyday of the week if you wish. They have every WOD(workout of the day) planned out for you, all you need to do is show up and try your best. I personally dropped 15 lbs within the first month in collaboration with a balanced diet. I've always played sports and kept in decent shape but thanks to Crossfit I have never felt so Fit in my life. Every coach is well educated and provides great insight on proper form and ways to improve. Tyler especially. He's the best. It's like personal training in a supportive group setting. I cannot recommend Cold storage Crossfit enough. If Fit is what you wish to be, this is the place for you. They offer a free trial week. What do you have to lose? Try it out. This place is top notch! I am from Long Beach, CA and have been CrossFitting down there for the last 2 1/2 and been a trainer at a box there for over a year as well. First off the Box has a great equipment set up and a great atmosphere. It isn't the biggest CrossFit box that I have been to, but while it may appear small it more than makes up for in quality training and good training atmosphere, which anyone who has been cross fitting for awhile will tell you is just as important as the WODs themselves. Christi is an extremely welcoming owner and is very CrossFit knowledgeable. She also allows her trainers to push new and older athletes. Also from other observations I made while spending time there for my WOD, she organizes CrossFit movie nights, CrossFit Trips to see the Open, and viewing parties for the games. Any level CrossFitter would do well at this box as well as feel welcomed into the community. I will definitely return to this box when I am in the area and would highly recommend Cold Storage CrossFit to anybody interested in starting or continuing CrossFit in the Hollister/San Benito County area. read more
