Cold Stone Creamery is located alongside Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. On one side of the cash register is Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and the other side is Cold Stone Creamery. Even though it's two businesses in one location, it is a very small store with maybe four small tables. I had a taste for a milkshake so I planned to splurge on a large. They only have two sizes - large and small; however, the large is the size of a normal medium. I wonder if they are out of large cups and charging customers the price of large for a medium size. I have that feeling.....I gulped my "large" milkshake down pretty quickly because it was good and cold in this 100 degree weather. read more

I love Cold Stone. It's the 3rd word in the title that makes the difference. It's a CREAMERY. That means they use real ingredients, like...you know...cream. They make all of their own ice cream and churn it on site daily. Fresh. Cold. YUM. The employees are awesome here. So friendly and patient as sometimes it's hard to choose between all the varying degrees of goodness. All employees are wearing masks, and there's a sign on the door asking customers to do the same, so please show respect and kindness for others and put on a mask before entering. Yikes. After not coming to Cold Stone for a while, I was disappointed in my experience. The online ordering was simple to use so I had high hopes. They were quickly dashed as I entered the store to find the service, portion sizes, and presentation was significantly below expectations. I walked in and approached the sign for online order pick up but was not acknowledged. After several minutes I moved to the line to order and eventually had to get the attention of a worker to get service. The order was thrown in a plastic sack and many cups of ice cream were tipped over. The ice cream is great, but not sure it's worth the experience. read more

I came in to get an apple because they have a Rocky Mountain chocolate factory store connected to them. There is a sign that says you can skip the ice cream line and begin the line at the cash register if you aren't getting ice cream. I stood at the register and made eye contact with all 3 workers and everyone ignored me. I proceeded to stand in the line because there was only 6 people in the ice cream line, (one family of five and a women by herself). And I have never waited in a longer line! All 3 workers worked on making one ice cream at a time. It was insanity! I ended up leaving after almost 20 minutes of waiting because of how slow the service was. How could it possibly take that long with such few people??? And why would you need 3 workers to make one persons ice cream? I'm an loyal customer to cold stone as I love their ice cream, but when I went in today both mine and the person I was with, our ice cream was below or just barely to the top of the cup rim when normally they are supposed to be filled to over the rim. I ordered door dash so I could select all my mix ins and not have to go in. But when I got there I called to let them know I was there and they told me I had to come in. So I go in and get the ice cream. The staff didn't have their masks over their noses and when I got home I had a random gummy bear in my ice cream and peanuts (I'm allergic to peanuts and did not ask for any gummy bears). So that definitely says something about how they're handling my food. Hope they get it together and separate and clean in between ice cream mixes. read more

I've always had a great experience going to Cold Stone. The employees are very professional and courteous, and the ice cream is delicious! This review is specific to my experience last night. There was a couple in line ahead of me trying to use a Groupon or other similar type of coupon. Unfortunately, what they were using was specific to a different location, as this Cold Stone was not participating in that specific deal. The couple seemed very annoyed, but the young man behind the counter handled the situation very well. Instead of getting flustered or upset, he remained calm and explained that this happens on occasion since different locations participate in different promotions. He said that he would address the issue with his manager when he could. The couple seemed satisfied and left the store with a positive experience. As someone who handles customer complaints for my day job, it is extremely important to me that businesses have great customer relationship management skills. I was very impressed with this location, and especially the young man who handled the situation very professionally. That was the worst experience I have ever had at Cold Stone! None of the orders were mixed. My son's had 2 gummy bears that was an extra charge! One order had two Huge cookie dough chunks and hardly anything else. They threw all the order in a bag, they went upside down! I was going to bring in a tip but not after that! Yesterday was filled with multiple family outings for us and on a whim we decided to stop in at Cold Stone in Layton. The location was already busy as our group filed in and I expected the employees to show some sign of stress over another large group, but I was so wrong about that. We were immediately greeted by Sam with a big smile and his enthusiastic promise of "I'll be right with you!" As we waited in the busy line, we were treated to a fun show! Sam was tossing the mixed ice cream high in the air with such flair and fun that we were quickly caught up in the fun atmosphere. I heard several customers in front of us say that Sam was the best employee they have seen there and they were also having fun with his flair for customer entertainment! Sam was courteous, helpful, professional and above all else, FUN! He helped each one of us as if we were his only customer in the store, making suggestions, offering mix ins and other tempting chocolates as well. We were even treated to enthusiastic singing as we placed tips in the jar for a job very well done! We all left the store with huge smiles and comments about how Sam made our day! I was disappointed with just...how...slow...their service was. We had 2 girls in front of us and the guy behind the counter took 15 minutes to put together their ice cream and ring them up. Went in 10 minutes before they close so yeah I know they want to go home... We paid for the ice cream then then 2 min later the guy behind the counter says we're closed you got to go right now. We asked if he was kidding. It was very awkward... Then another customer that was sitting at a table spoke up and call him out. She said she had talked to the owner because he had done the same thing to her a little while ago. It was like 11 exactly when he was trying to kick us out. We basically told him to go to heck and sat there anyways. I worked at restaurants and other places and we never told people right at closing they had to get up and leave. The place was kind of gross and messy anyways so they had a lot to clean up. I think the managers need new training. I don't think I'll ever come back. One girl was nice to us so that's why I'm giving an extra star. You can look at my other reviews I'm really not a complainer. If I was the owner I would want to know the attitude of the employees to customers. You know it's bad when randomly another customer was in there and the same thing that happened to her a couple weeks ago and she had to call him out. Since the pandemic started we have been using the curbside pickup option at the Coldstone Layton UT location. This is to protect ourselves and support local businesses. Tonight we made our online order and arrived at our pick up time. We called into the store to let them know we were there and were told there were a couple of orders ahead of ours so it would be a few minutes more, which we understood. After waiting 25 more minutes and watching several customers come and go with ice cream,we called again and were told they prioritize in store customers, customers crowding in their store, many without masks, before preparing our order which was ordered and payed for before any of those customers. We are in an older age group and have been very cautious since the beginning of the pandemic. If this is their policy, it is not on their website and we would not have gone to a store that cares so little about our business or our safety. Worst customer service we have experienced! Cleanliness is the issue here. The tables and chairs are scattered and there's trash on the floor. The counter, where you pay, is covered in chocolate syrup. Things are left out on the work counter where the milkshakes are made. It doesn't appear to have been cleaned at all today. This is the second time I have seen this establishment in such poor condition. While I was enjoying my ice cream there was a period of time where there were no other customers and there was ample opportunity to clean up the place. There are at least three employees here and they simply retreat to the back when there are no customers to serve. If they can't keep the place clean it makes me wonder if they wash their hands. If I come back and see this same unsanitary condition I will walk back out and not come back. read more

We have normally had very good service but tonight was an unfortunate exception. We visit the Cold stone at least 2 to 3 times per week. A couple of the servers recognize me and know exactly what I order every time. They usually just make up and get me on my way fast. The last time I was in the person that helped me did a great job but when I got to the register to pay, I handed my frequent buyer card to her and then I noticed that she had rung up 2 signatures when I had purchased 2 create your own. She did not know what to do so she ask one of the other servers to help her and he did. In the confusion of the situation, they forgot to give me back my frequent buyer card that had 6 stamps on it. Tonight I went in for my usual order and a nice young lady as if she could help me and I said only if they had more Sweet Cream flavor as the case container was empty. She looked at another bleach blond young man who I have seen in there before and he showed her a container on the back counter so she proceeded to make my order. As I watched, another server asked the same bleach blond young man which container was the sweet cream, he pointed to a different container and told the group working that he had a number of container mixed up. I'm not sure that I got the correct flavor since I was given the flavor in a small container when usually the sweet cream is always in a large container. While all of the ice cream was left out on the back counter so he could figure out the confusion, the same bleach blonde young man came to the register to ring up my order. I explained that I had been earlier this week and due to a confusion at the register, my previous server had forgotten to give me my frequent buyer card back to me so he got out a new card and stamped it for the 2 ice creams I was just purchasing and told me that when I found my other card I could bring it back to combine the purchases. When I explained to him that I was not going to be able to find it since it was not given back to me a couple of days earlier. He said that it was my fault for leaving without my card. I then asked if a mistake made by them should cost a customer and that I would not lie about something like that. He didn't not seem to care and told me once again that it was my fault since I walked out without asking for it. Normally with this experience I would send a complaint to the owner but the last time I did that about the level of service, the owner gave excuses about how hard it is to find good help when most of your employees are teenagers and pretty much called me a liar. It looks the owner has taught at least some of his staff how to call customers liars when there is a problem. Last time I swore I'd never go back. Really disappointed with the cake I ordered. I asked for specifics with how the decorations and extras on the cake were but they ended up just following the pattern they do with the cakes they put on display. If I wanted a display cake, I would not have came in days prior to order a cake specifically how I wanted it. I didn't have time for them to make me a new one so just had to settle with a plain Jane normal cake. They could have put some effort into it at least. read more
