Same wine across 3 years, enjoyed tasting the differences

More high end winery, all reds. Beautiful tasting room, wonderful views. Very friendly staff, lovely service. Their specialty is Cab Sauv and they're excellent. Red mountain grapes make some of the best cabs anywhere. Bottles $100-$150, tasting fee $50 waived with $150 purchase. If you're a can sauv conisseiur this is a must try place.

If you're coming to Col Solare for the views and the beautifully decorated space, it's easily 5 stars. Honestly, that's exactly why I wanted to come here. I saw photos of the tasting room and it is beautiful! We had our pooch with us, so we didn't spend any time inside. We sat in the back patio, they were kind enough to give our pooch some water. First, there were only 3 tastings offered for the price of just under $22 - that's extremely steep IMO. They were generous pours and we did get an extra tasting of their Rose. The tasting fee is waived if you buy $100 or more worth of bottles. The 3 tastings were really great. Full bodied and earthy reds. But I was turned off by the high price for the tastings, and most places will waive the fee if you buy 1 or 2 bottles vs. a fixed amount. I would make a visit just for the views, it is pretty phenomenal.

We have visited Col Solare tasting room a few times. They even offer cheese plates with your tasting. If you enjoy red wines and can only hit a few spots, I would defiantly make this one of them. You will find tasty wines and beautiful views. Definantly a good pit spot if your on your way to/from Walla Walla:)

This was my favorite winery on a recent tour of Columbia Valley wineries. The setting and grounds are spectacular and the wines are outstanding. The tasting price point is typical for a premium winery as quality tends to not come cheaply ($22 for a generous 3 wine pour). Feel free to "revisit" any of the wines sampled. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and pleasant. We enjoyed our tasting inside where we could monopolize our server's time with questions, but they will gladly serve you outdoors where you can take in the expansive vineyard views. Strongly recommend.

This winery and tasting room is located right smack dab in the middle of Red Mountain. For those of you who aren't familiar with Columbia Valley wines, it's like where all the best grapes in this region come from. So to be able to sip your wine in the presence of some outstanding vines is priceless to me. I really liked the 16 cab Franc and the 16 Cab Sav should open up really nicely if it's cellared for a few years. If you have the time and are driving through the area, it's a great surprise stop.

The tours were not available when I went, but it was also near closing time. However, we were able to catch the tasting for about ~$25 -- 3 wines (2006, 2007, 2008). One of the more expensive, if not most expensive wineries in the area. Hmmmmm, winegasmic as it touched my lips. Hello 2007. We also had some unusual sausage meats, including kangaroo, venison, etc. It wasn't unbearable... I would say pleasant with the mustard, but not something I'd go out of my way to eat regularly. The vineyard is absolutely gorgeous and the stairs leading up to the winery is a great photo op. See my photo. Was nice to get out of the 110+ degree heat.

If you want to feel pampered while tasting incredible wine in a beautiful setting this is the place. Amazing crew here who is so friendly, knowledge and kind. We totally lucked out and got to meet the head wine maker who is so down to earth. You can tell everyone here loves what they do. I recommend taking your time and enjoying the ambience. We can't wait for to go back! Thanks for everything April!

We had high hopes about this winery which appeared to live up to expectations until we actually got inside. So, we will start with the pros. The estate is beautiful and expertly farmed. Since they are a supplier to Chateau Ste Michelle, they have some money and knowledge poured into the vineyards and how you have to drive through the vines of grapes to reach the tasting room. The facade up to the winery was gorgeous and was picture worthy. This has an amazing view of the surrounding hills from high on Red Mountain. Then, we walked inside to a beautiful tasting room which was complete with fireplace and conversation dice at the tables. This is where the experience stopped being enjoyable. The cons: We were not sure if the tasting room was even open even after opening the door and having to ask if they were. A warm smile would have gone further than a blank stare as we entered. Once we got to the counter, the server explained how they were not like normal tasting rooms and started by explaining the history of the winery and then breezed over the three wines available to taste. Since they only had the three, we decided to get two taster sets for the three of us (I was driving but still got a few sips). They do slightly larger than normal pours, but they poured every wine at the same time and did not explain anything other than their vintage year and primary grape used. While we did enjoy the ambiance, the wines were less than outstanding. They all tasted good and were 'drinkable' but did not jump out at us after our excellent experience and better wines at another winery earlier that day. The entire time we tasted, the attendant was on the phone and did not even notice when we had a small spill and then did not even offer to help clean up. I would say that our help was maybe an anomaly, but she never introduced her self. The worst part about the experience was when the bill came. $54.50 for two tasting sets of three 2 oz. pours. A typical glass of wine is 4 oz. that means we paid nearly $18.00 per glass of wine which is more than we paid for three tastings of six wines altogether at another tasting room. I understand wine is not meant to be cheap, but I believe in quality deserving price and the quality was not there. Overall, I think this winery could be a great place for a restaurant and bar that does not focus on their wine and uses the beautiful environment to feature the Red Mountain Vineyards area.

We went with outside as it was a gorgeous day and who would say no to drinking wine in a vineyard! They have a variety of tasting options, from Rośe- white- reds. Rośe was very refreshing, Chardonnay, I'm not a fan but this one wasn't as tart as the rest of the ones I've tasted. Let's talk reds nothing disappointed!! Malbec, Merlot and Cab each had their own flavors from light to bold to heavy. We ended up purchasing one of each as we were unable to make a decision. There is no rush to leave, you are not on a time crunch, they treat you like family here. You can sit and drink by bottle or glass, walk the vineyards and it's dog friendly. You can bring your old wine bags from any winery and they reuse it. We were surprised when our wine was given to us in a different wineries bag. Loved this concepts of reusing. Not only did they honor it, they nailed it. The chairs were warm, comfortable, and the whole room felt cozy in that old-world way -- fire crackling, candles glowing, and the kind of ambiance that makes you want to slow down and savor everything. The wines were bold and delicious, especially the reds. You can tell they take their craft seriously. They even brought out a little birthday treat, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the moment feel even more personal. We also ordered the cheese plate and honestly, it was perfect. Three different cheeses, a mix of crackers, olives, tiny pickles, and what I'm pretty sure was apricot jam -- everything balanced each other beautifully. Paired with the wine, it felt like the world outside just... paused for a bit. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful without hovering. I absolutely adore this winery: the wine, the space, the people, the food, and the community…read more The Wine: The wines are consistently amazing and are made to be aged, without the usual high price tag that comes with that. I like bold, flavorful wine, and they have that in spades. I thought I hated Merlot, for being generally weak, but Terra Blanca's Merlot is fantastic. I thought I only liked red wine, but their Albarino is now my go-to summer white wine. I thought Rose was too sugary of a wine, but their Rose has incredible flavor without heft. I'm an enduring fan of their Block 8 Syrah, but the Cab Sauv is a close second. The Space: It's gorgeous. The building is beautiful, the grounds are well-maintained, the vineyard (which you can tour at some of their events) feels old-world-meets-tech, the cellars are amazing, and everything feels welcoming. Like, I don't just want to go here, I want to spend time here. The People: The employees are wonderful: welcoming, knowledgeable, happy, humble, and it never feels like they're just trying to sell you something. They're honest and upbeat, even at times when I *know* they must be feeling rushed or stressed. It makes the whole place feel like hanging out with friends and neighbors (but in a classy way). This is *not* the kind of winery where they pour, recite a litany about the varietal, and walk away. This is the kind of winery where you can walk in and say "I know nothing about wine" and they'll be excited to take you wherever your curiosity about wine takes you. The Food: I've eaten at the Thursday happy hours, at buffet banquets, and at a tasting/pairing event. Each time the food has been delicious, unique, and well-paired. And it's all from scratch, locally grown & grazed, etc. even their charcuterie boards are lovely (and a lot...you will not leave hungry). I recommend trying the flatbread pizzas off their wood-fired grill. Oh, and the menu changes quarterly, so I've yet to get bored with anything. The Community: In addition to this place feeling like a community, and growing one with their wine clubs and virtual tasting group, they're involved in the Tri-Cities community. I love when local small businesses support each other and non-profits in the area! They have regular events and banquet fundraisers for orgs like Children's Developmental Center and TROT. Oh, the prices? I'd call them good. High enough to convey the quality, but low enough to be approachable even for people who are just starting to try wine. And they do a lot of sales and discounts throughout the year. The tasting room prices are spot-on, which keeps Terra Blanca feeling inclusive. TL;DR: Tasty wine at affordable prices, great customer service, welcoming atmosphere, excellent food, fun events

We were greeted with a glass of rosè, and opted for tastings. There are 3 tastings for $20 (not counting the welcome glass), with generous pours. The fee is waived with bottle purchase of $30. I opted for mostly cab or cab blends. Honestly, I didn't care for the wine. I was actually disappointed as so many people have raved about Kiona. The best thing I tasted was the rosè. Maybe I chose the wrong wines to taste, but I'm not sure I'd buy Kiona wines. On the flip side, the staff were absolutely great! And the tasting room is gorgeous, and if the views are your thing, and you enjoy their wine, definitely pay Kiona a visit.
