Love this beach water so clear the locals are great. Spent the entire day got a bit to much sun but worth it

This beach was a thirty minute ride in an open air bus. $9 each way. We rented a jet ski for $60 for thirty minutes. The water is a clear pretty turquoise blues and calm. This beach appears a bit smaller and more congested than Meagan's beach. I visited both beaches when getting off a cruise ship. The beach itself has little more debris than I would like to see. The people are nice. Not many people trying to sell you things. Beach chair rental is $5 I would return for the activities offered on the beach. They have kayaking and glass bottom boat rides for an additional fee. The have places on the beach for food and beverage purchase. The beach is located in wThe U.S Virgin Island/St.Thomas. Sunshine and Island music a plenty. A nice escape from everyday hustle and bustle. read more

This was a fun beach. Great beginner snorkeling and clear waters. Go see vegetarian Bwasi at Perfection Connection in a little white tent. He whips up some of the best all natural "Behavin" or Misbehavin" drinks on the island. Good snorkeling and plenty of fish in this area. They literally feed right out of your hands. The beach itself is always packed and is not very large. It's a nice day trip, though, to visit Coki and Coral World. Swimming isn't the best here-- the water is choppier here than most of the other beaches and the current can get strong at times if you go out a ways. Make sure to visit the drink stand near the lockers-- don't worry about the price, it's worth it. Fresh fruit juice and rum equals one very refreshing drink! read more

Loved this beach, one of the best in the Caribbean. There is so much nature here. I saw sand dollars, rainbow fish, and tropical flowers. I kayaked on this beach and had the best memory ever. I also snubs dived and saw huge fish, star fish, and so much sea life. Absolutely amazing and flawless place. read more

This is the perfect location for snorkel in St. Thomas the water is turquoise blue and the sand isn't hard. They have a reef near by and if you rent snorkel gear at one of the shacks you can check it out. They also sell the dog biscuits I recommend buying it because these tropical fish swim right up to you if you feed them. This was really a cool experience you have hundreds of different types of tropical fish around you. I just wished I had a go pro to film all of it. Overall this was one of the most famous and best beaches on the island. read more

Loved this place! The snorkeling was ok, I wish I could be more excited about that, but it was just so sad to see how much trash was at the bottom of the reefs, I spent 30 minutes picking up pieces of paper and plastic cups from the floor. Maybe its because of its location, where the ocean and the sea meet, or maybe its because people are lazy and don't care. Most of the devastation I saw in the reefs were not off Coki alone, the pollution, dead coral, lack of predator fish and colorful reef life, was in many reefs throughout the islands. But we did see efforts for a comeback! We were lucky and got there at the end of season so we didn't get hit with an onslaught of day trippers, which gave us a chance to get to know more about the place. My favorite thing about Coki was the people. The people were amazing!!! Sure they try to sell you stuff, its just business, but to take the time to talk to them was more than worth it. We found out so much about everyone. A little history of the people that made up that part of the island. The mad man that kept getting us coconuts and a rusty machete turned out to be a former pro athlete that lost his mind one day. The man making the smoothies, Boise, is so knowledgeable and friendly once you take the time to talk to him and take an interest in what he's doing. The smoothies he makes are not just for profit, they're for health (until you add rum, then they're for fun!) He's patenting a special herb to help cleanse the body. Introduced us to sour sop, he has so much to tell you about. The funny little lady selling her clothes and slipping you shots of rum has great stories as well. Sure we went for a tan, but you cannot judge a place if you don't take the time to get to know it. Coki Beach is a really amazingly beautiful place. Not just for the views, but the people! read more

We had a 8-day vacation on USVI and Coki Beach was the last beach we visited. Every tour book would say Coki is the best snorkeling site on St. Thomas. Indeed, we saw more fish here than anywhere else (we snorkeled at 7 different beaches on St. John and St. Thomas). We were excited for a moment, but then realized that the reason we saw so many fish was because people were feeding them with whatever junk food they brought to the beach. Those fish were not afraid of human, instead, they followed us everywhere and some were brave enough to bite me. We also saw lots of dead reef and human trash in the ocean. On the beach, people were drinking all kinds of alcohol in the water. There was this strong smell of weed in the air. This beach is ruined. read more

Hmmm I don't get why the rave reviews about this beach. My least favorite spot we visited all week. First of all, the road in was shut down for construction and had to take a detour through some sketchy areas. Then, Coral World was closed for work so couldn't go in. The beach itself is very small, crowded, loud, and not as clean as the others we visited. More of a party beach atmosphere. Magen's Bay and Smith Bay were so much better. read more

Having lived in St. Thomas for 7 months and going to different beaches every day I would say that Coki is one of my favorites on St. Thomas. Yes it is more of a local beach, but why wouldn't you want a more local beach. Plus as a whole if Americans would understand that we are guest tgere in stead of acting like we own everything we would probably get much better treatment. I also thing this beach has some of the prettiest water of any beach in the VI including St. John...The locals are very helpful as for as serving you on this Veach where you don't even have to get up to get anything. The only reason I gave it 4 is because of the extreme local feel which I actually like. ..Hope this is helpful. Ok, this place was touted as one of the best beaches and it is a good one. We went based on the fact it supposedly had great snorkeling. It was fair. There were fish there that were clearly being feed, as they swarmed us when we got in. I was a bit disappointed as the fish as were not as good as other places.(Linguist, Sapphire, and St. Johns Trunk Bay) It is beautiful with blue water and white sands- however if you can get over the hustlers that are constantly harassing you to buy lunch and drinks from them, you will love this place. We left after an hour due to the annoyance. Overall nice beach, you should stop by and check out at least once. read more

This is my favorite beach on the island. I lived in St. Thomas briefly and was able to walk here from my home. Sad how "tourists" are so afraid of the locals when the locals are upset that they are afraid of them. Everyone just wants to have a good time. No worries. Its a good beach, gets crowded if a ship is in. Seems like locals were here as well. If your into "herbal" refreshment seems like people were heading over to the left. We were told if you need anything....anything my man "slim" can hook you up. 3 beach bars or so selling beers and rum punch. close to coral world so I'd say worth a stop but still doesn't beat meagans or St John in my book read more

This beach, while busy, managed to avoid feeling crowded, even with 3 cruise ships in port. The sand was just beautiful, not a speck of trash anywhere. The water was spotless too, not a strand of seaweed to be seen. We really appreciated that the staff made themselves available without being pushy. It's nice to have clean bathrooms and showers too. My husband said there was great snorkeling near the rocks. Highly recommended! read more

Nice beach, clear water&white sand. Excellent snorkel on the left side along rocks/coral. Fishes come around you, almost you could catch them. Watch out for the strong current, hard to fight. On the contrary, it's very very crowded, vendors around & load music from the bars. read more

Easy snorkeling seeing sargeant major, surgeonfish, doctorfish and needle fish near the rocks on east side of beach. The direct road still under construction and coral world reopens july 5. You will be approached about renting chairs, umbrella and snorkle equipment. Nice sandy beach. read more

Snorkeling on the left and right, with lessons and fish feeding on the right and more rocks, more variety on the left. If you are learning to snorkel or have small children, start on the right. If you go out on the left, head out a bit from the rocks once you turn the corner for some great coral. Also if you swim from one side to the other, head out to the edge where the water turns dark blue for a great view. A definite island feel with food and music, locals selling coconuts and jewelry. There are also "wait staff" who will offer to get you drinks and food. They come in varying degrees of honesty, but all seem to provide good service. Very sketchy, wouldn't recommend. We kept feeling like we were Going to get mugged or kidnapped.

I just spent 5 hours at Coki Beach and totally enjoyed myself! I rented snorkel mask n fins at the on site "Coki dive center" (right next to Coral World) and they did not even charge any extra for a prescription correction mask. (I wear glasses- ask for about 1/2 your usual correction in dive mask as water naturally magnifies everything - they only have a few). All the gear worked flawlessly, and they even tossed in 2 large dog biscuits to feed all the fish for free. Just hold the dog biscuit on top of your head - dry and out of the water- while you are face down in the water with one hand, with the other hand break a small piece off, hold it out and down in the water to all the fish, and watch in awe as they come up and bite on the biscuit while the tiny piece is still in your fingers. Don't worry about them biting you, as even if they do (which is very rare) it does not hurt, & will not break your skin. Even the big parrot fish ate right out of my fingers, and one did accidentally nip me, but no pain, no hurt, nothing. Hang on tight to your dog biscuit pieces as they will try to pull it out of your fingers grasp! Be ready for Swarms of fish all around you!! I have scuba dove for 30 years, Hawaii, Mexico, all over the California coast line. This is a great spot to snorkel for very easy beach entry, and so many friendly (well fed) fish to see, even for total newbies. If you get away from the crowds, around the rocks towards Coral World you will see some fan and other corals & larger fish. (Do not touch any of them). I would say there must be much better spots to scuba around the island, but for snorkeling, for sure worth the $10 rental fee. As far as this being a good beach to go to - to swim, and lounge around? Yes, sure, good vendors, good food n drink, but why would you go to a snorkel beach, when there are so many other great - better - bigger- beaches to sit on in St. Thomas for swimming and sun bathing?? read more

Not a fan. This was my absolute least favorite beach in St. Thomas (and St. John as well). Sure, it has the white sand and clear turquoise water to merit the 2 stars, but this beach was an unexpectedly annoying experience. First of all, it looks nothing like the pictures on the Internet. It was very small and ridiculously crowded. We went on a Wednesday, when apparently all the cruise ships were arriving, which made Coki super incredibly packed. It was horrible how packed it was. We got there early and within minutes there were hundreds of lawn chairs disseminated around us, to the point where we couldn't stretch an arm without bumping into other people's business. This only got worse and worse. The servers, although very nice and friendly, would not stop asking us if we wanted something. Although nice at first, after being asked every 30 seconds, it starts getting a little unbearable. This is definitely NOT where you go for peace and quiet. Forget that. Also, the snorkeling was pretty horrible. We went to Coki because we were told it was the best snorkeling on the island. Wrong. If you're a snorkeler, go to Secret Harbor. At Coki, like other reviewers mentioned, they feed the fish dog snacks, which seems quite unethical if you ask me. As a result, you have tons of fish swarm around you really close to the shore, which may seem cool if you're 6 or 80 years old, but it takes all the fun and magic out of snorkeling if you're anyone else. This also made the water really crowded, as there were TONS of people chasing these fish all over. To sum it up, I would say Coki was loud, crowded, and difficult to enjoy. It was also not in the best area of the island. I'd say go to Lindquist for a beautiful and relaxing beach, and/or go to Secret Harbor for snorkeling. Save yourselves the time and money and skip Coki. Unless you're into the annoying crowds. read more
