I just spent 5 hours at Coki Beach and totally enjoyed myself! I rented snorkel mask n fins at the on site "Coki dive center" (right next to Coral World) and they did not even charge any extra for a prescription correction mask. (I wear glasses- ask for about 1/2 your usual correction in dive mask as water naturally magnifies everything - they only have a few). All the gear worked flawlessly, and they even tossed in 2 large dog biscuits to feed all the fish for free. Just hold the dog biscuit on top of your head - dry and out of the water- while you are face down in the water with one hand, with the other hand break a small piece off, hold it out and down in the water to all the fish, and watch in awe as they come up and bite on the biscuit while the tiny piece is still in your fingers. Don't worry about them biting you, as even if they do (which is very rare) it does not hurt, & will not break your skin. Even the big parrot fish ate right out of my fingers, and one did accidentally nip me, but no pain, no hurt, nothing. Hang on tight to your dog biscuit pieces as they will try to pull it out of your fingers grasp! Be ready for Swarms of fish all around you!! I have scuba dove for 30 years, Hawaii, Mexico, all over the California coast line. This is a great spot to snorkel for very easy beach entry, and so many friendly (well fed) fish to see, even for total newbies. If you get away from the crowds, around the rocks towards Coral World you will see some fan and other corals & larger fish. (Do not touch any of them). I would say there must be much better spots to scuba around the island, but for snorkeling, for sure worth the $10 rental fee. As far as this being a good beach to go to - to swim, and lounge around? Yes, sure, good vendors, good food n drink, but why would you go to a snorkel beach, when there are so many other great - better - bigger- beaches to sit on in St. Thomas for swimming and sun bathing?? read more

Not a fan. This was my absolute least favorite beach in St. Thomas (and St. John as well). Sure, it has the white sand and clear turquoise water to merit the 2 stars, but this beach was an unexpectedly annoying experience. First of all, it looks nothing like the pictures on the Internet. It was very small and ridiculously crowded. We went on a Wednesday, when apparently all the cruise ships were arriving, which made Coki super incredibly packed. It was horrible how packed it was. We got there early and within minutes there were hundreds of lawn chairs disseminated around us, to the point where we couldn't stretch an arm without bumping into other people's business. This only got worse and worse. The servers, although very nice and friendly, would not stop asking us if we wanted something. Although nice at first, after being asked every 30 seconds, it starts getting a little unbearable. This is definitely NOT where you go for peace and quiet. Forget that. Also, the snorkeling was pretty horrible. We went to Coki because we were told it was the best snorkeling on the island. Wrong. If you're a snorkeler, go to Secret Harbor. At Coki, like other reviewers mentioned, they feed the fish dog snacks, which seems quite unethical if you ask me. As a result, you have tons of fish swarm around you really close to the shore, which may seem cool if you're 6 or 80 years old, but it takes all the fun and magic out of snorkeling if you're anyone else. This also made the water really crowded, as there were TONS of people chasing these fish all over. To sum it up, I would say Coki was loud, crowded, and difficult to enjoy. It was also not in the best area of the island. I'd say go to Lindquist for a beautiful and relaxing beach, and/or go to Secret Harbor for snorkeling. Save yourselves the time and money and skip Coki. Unless you're into the annoying crowds. read more

My family and I just visited Coki Beach. The last we visited was about 6 years ago. And I may say the generous hospitality of the locals has not changed. We rented chairs, umbrellas and under water snorkels from a libel lady across from the women's bathroom named Mary. She doesn't expect $70 deposits and her staff is so friendly. She has the most reasonable pieces and it comes with a smile. Yeah some may feel the bartenders are a bit pushy but they are just trying to survive. They are all equally pleasant, which where I'm from, you don't get that type of friendliness. You should also tip them well for their hospitable attitudes. We also took my 4 year told to get her hair braided and the woman was so gentle with her as she braided and beaded her hair to her 4 year old approval. The food is pretty decent except sometimes they overlook a "well done" burger. The smoothies are amazing. Definitely visit coki beach! read more

This was a beautiful small little beach when we first arrived. The sand was smooth and soft, the water was crystal clear and there were only a couple people on the beach. My boyfriend and I had brought our own snorkel gear, so we put down our towels and snorkel bags and took to the water. I could see Coral World from the beach and really wanted to go, but we found our own nice little coral spot on the right end of the beach, with tons of beautiful fish and shells. But be careful because there were a lot of sea urchins on the coral and some even washed up to the beach. After we'd been in the water for a couple hours, we decided to go back to the beach to get a drink and were surprised when we saw the beach packed to the brim. It was hard to locate our towel because so many people had crammed themselves around our stuff. After speaking with a few people, we realized there were 3 cruise ships docked at once and many of the people came to Coki Beach instead of Magen's Bay in hopes for a quieter beach. Apparently we were all mistaken. The cab drivers were hustlin hard and we even witnessed a couple of them arguing over riders and such. The cab drivers were probably my least favorite part of St Thomas. However, the snorkeling was amazing and I'd definitely recommend that! read more

the best snorkeling on st. thomas or st. john because of how many fish are around. although you can park at the incredibly sketchy cemetary right next to the locals, id recommend to park at coral world and then take the walkway down. you can buy the fish food sure but the fish are really accustomed to eating food from humans so you can trick them and hold up a rock and theyll start to bite that and they may bite your finger. also, pick up some sand and let it go slowly and youll see them following you. read more

Great for snorkeling. Some advice - you can negotiate rates for chairs and snorkel gear. locals were very friendly -- love Mama. Parking-- we arrived around 5pm so we parked in the coral World parking lot. We had the beach to ourselves just about. Pease take your trash with you! read more

Good snorkeling, easy parking, and definite party vibe. After missing a turn, we successfully made it to Coki. It helps that it is right by Coral World so you can follow those signs. We found parking easily. The street leading in and the parking area is fairly scummy. But once you get on the beach there is beautiful sand and water. We were immediately approached about rentals. We didn't have enough cash and after taking an ID for collateral we were told we'd just settle up afterwards (Coral World has an ATM). The snorkeling was great. We arrived at around 10a where it was fairly empty, but within an hour it started to get very full. There is loud music pumping which adds a fun Caribbean vibe. It's definitely the place for adults to relax and enjoy adult drinks and less of a secluded natural experience. I know we won't be back since there are so many other beach choices in the area, but I'm glad we visited. read more

Two sides to this coin. On one side, it is a beautiful beach with soft white sand and crystal clear blue water. Rocky outcroppings bordering the beach -- the east and western edges -- have lots of sea life and provide excellent snorkeling. On the other side, the services and people working there could turn some people off. You pay to park ($5) and walk into a series of outbuildings before getting to the beach. There are lots of vendors who ask if you want to rent chairs, eat, or drink. They can be either helpful or a little pushy, depending on your perspective. You can rent snorkeling equipment ($10 each with fins, though the price didn't seem fixed). As the day got later, the music got louder (mostly hip hop and reggae) and the smell of weed got stronger. There were vendors walking by -- jewelry, caricatures, etc. -- and people offering alcohol. I went with a family of five -- two young teenagers and a 10 year old -- and we never felt unsafe, but this, again, depends on your tolerance for such things. We found it to be an excellent adventure that provided a lot of stories -- exactly what we wanted it to be. read more

Visited here two months ago. Staying at the ritz but the drive wasn't bad at all to coki. Heard some bad reviewsbecause of the locals but I had no problem. If you just tell them no thank you they'll leave you alone and if they do get a little pushy and come by to ask you again If you changed your mind about snorkeling, beach chairs, umbrellas getting some food if you need a drink just say nope we're good and thank them. Stop being little sensitive people and grow a pair and grow up. Obv the ppl here are little Rastafarians just trying to make some money and hit the green( you can smell it throughout the day which brought a cool vibe to the beach) while relaxing with there tourist. Get a grip and loosen up. Btw I hate snorkeling But once my girlfriend came back to shore after doing some quick exploring I had to jump in and see what the fuss was about. Crazy experience . Literally 50-100 colorful fish swimming all around you. I'm not an avid snorkeler but now I am because of coki beach even though I still can't find size 15 flippers :( read more
