Having recently celebrated another anniversary we thought we'd update our review. The other night,…read morewe were sitting in audience at an event, listening and laughing together, and it struck me that I would marry my wife all over again. I suppose that is what makes a marriage- choosing each other again and again, and most of the time this choosing is implicit, but there are other times when it becomes a very conscious thought: yes, I choose you. We continue to negotiate the differences and misunderstandings, and sometimes hurt feelings...and i can't say those negotiations are easy, but they sure are less fraught. I guess we simply trust more and tell each other more often what's going on inside ourselves. I think we both feel the other person's love on a more regular basis? Not sure how to put it exactly. But I know we wouldn't be in the good place we are without having worked with Paula. So, happy anniversary to us, and thanks again, Paula, for rooting for us - and most of all, for teaching us how to keep close to each other. Wish there were 10 stars to give.

This is an updated review from 2022. I have been working with Karallyn for nearly four years. Note…read morethat while Karallyn performs wonderful acts of service for many women--she has an intuitive manner of working with men as well. This is my testament to her capabilities. In addition to the comments I made in the spring of 2022 - and I offer them below at the end of this March 2026 review - you'll be able to realize tremendous benefits from working with Karallyn. Most of my work with Karallyn has been remotely performed. Karallyn is gifted in her ability to draw upon a wide variety of her own experiences, training and knowledge. She is constantly improving and growing her repertoire of tools that she can leverage in service of others. Karallyn has spent a great deal of personal investment in somatic embodywork. If this seems foreign to you, one way to think of her skill is this (and these are my words): Karallyn has a deep understanding of the interconnections and relationships between mind, body and spirit. She is focused on providing you with tools to improve your ability to engage your body and nervous system, to make them resilient, and to improve your experience of life through your physical relationship to the world around you. It is powerful and life-enhancing. Our practice and work has grown and changed over time. I find working with Karallyn highly valuable. It has improved my ability to grow into my authentic self. Give Karallyn's website a review--and more importantly, connect with her and learn how she can provide you with improvements you didn't know existed. (2022 Review) Karallyn is an absolutely wonderful healer, spiritual guide, and human being. Like several of the others who have reviewed her, I am not a resident of Asheville -- I sought out a talented energy healer to assist me with my own spiritual and energetic journeys. I meditate and practice qi gong daily, and I have done so for years -- a recent series of events in my life led me to experience a guided release in December 2021, which was a profound and positive experience. My intention in working with Karallyn was to find someone in Asheville who could take my spiritual journey to the next level, so to speak -- and to help me identify the path of highest and best use for my spiritual growth. Karallyn is professional, skilled, knowledgeable of her craft, and outstanding at creating a safe space for someone open to working with her. She begins her sessions with a discussion and interview of sorts in order to better understand the intentions of someone who has come to her--I found this conversation to be valuable. It also helped me understand her as a practitioner and healer. I have found her able to challenge me in a positive manner that has broadened my horizons regarding spirituality in ways I might not have accepted even six months ago. As a note, I am planning to continue working with her remotely.

I remember my three months in the summer of 2023, at CooperRiis at Asheville, / CRA, quite fondly…read more  I was stabilized for a couple of years after that.  My only regret was not being able to stay in the program longer.  I really credit the staff for their major role in stabilizing me, helping me adjust, and keeping me safe during those three months.  The staff saw me at my worst and at my best.  Somehow, they were able to help me reach a stable ground of somewhere in-between, of just being "fine".  I really credit the special relationships I forged with the staff during that time period.  The staff kept me safe in times of manic periods, and kept me safe overall.  The staff got me thinking about Recovery and got me thinking about being well at home.  I was able to receive extra counseling while I was there on Sundays, and sometimes during the week, which was so desperately needed.  I really credit Residential Evening for keeping me steady during my downtime.  The individual counseling sessions with my Team were also really helpful, as well as was Family Therapy.  The groups during the day were beneficial, too, and really added longer-term therapy and coping mechanisms to my stay. I would recommend that you stay at CooperRiis for as long as possible and go through Levels A, B, and C if you can.  This is the single, best, most important financial decision you will make for your mental health.   CooperRiis takes a holistic approach, which was new and different for me.  But I benefitted greatly from this approach.  The delicious  (and new to me) Mediterranean Diet did wonders for my body for three months and taught me a lot about nutrition for mental health.  Upon my return home, I was able to receive extra monthly support from the CooperRiis family education program, on a variety of interesting topics.  I also am able to keep in touch with the alumni contact person every so often.  I'll continue to keep in touch with CooperRiis.  It was the best financial decision I ever made for myself.  The staff are great, wonderful, patient people who are highly-qualified to do this job.  The staff at CooperRiis at Asheville really helps you with the road of recovery and a long-term period of stabilization.  I really miss all of the staff who were there during the Summer of 2023.  I think of you all, and Asheville, often, and remember what I have learned there.  Thank you for helping me during that time period of my life.   I highly recommend CooperRiis at Asheville.

When I came to see Stacey in September of 2018 I felt hopeless and lost which was made even more…read morecomplex due to the fear I had. I saw myself as worthless with little to no value. I knew deep down inside that there was a person of value however, I couldn't reach her. Every time I thought about making a step towards a better future I literally trembled and recoiled out of anxiety & fear. Even after breaking up on my own terms, with my abuser I still held myself accountable to what my actions would do to her. Her, a person that had hurt me over & over again year after year who I kept returning to knowing the conclusion would be no different then the times before. I felt weak and ashamed like I was the only one who could even begin to understand my own actions but actually couldn't. I began opening up & truly looking inward to see if I could simply find who I was. I didn't like what I saw, I saw a woman who had no standards & no healthy boundaries that she had held up except for the actual breakup. I felt ashamed of myself and wanted to crawl into a hole to punish myself for such obviously stupid decisions I made. Stacey understood how hard this was for me to grasp. Through the empowerment group & individual therapy I soon realized that I wasn't alone. Stacey was open to letting me feel what I was feeling & taught me that these were normal steps in situations like this. I needed to show myself compassion and that was something she pushed home every time. I didn't think I deserved compassion or caring, not until she explained it to me. I've gone from seeing myself as a victim of abuse to being a survivor of abuse. I trust myself more & listen to my instincts that are still off at times...however, I do investigate to be sure. The more I learn about non-violent communication, the more I know what a healthy relationship looks like & the more I want that. I've learned that while I was subject to abuse doesn't mean that I deserved or wanted it, no matter how many times I went back. I remember asking Stacey one time-How will I know if I am going overboard with my thoughts and fears in a new relationship, how will I be able to handle healthy. She gently reminded me that I have the knowledge and will always be learning new things to help me know I am in the right place. This transformation has been so powerful for me that I've often considered & looked into becoming a therapist to women who have suffered the same or greater abuse than I. I've wanted to share my own testimony if you will, of how I came out of the horrible place I was in. Now, I trust myself, I listen to my inner thoughts, even if they are bad. I consider what they are trying to tell me & work with the knowledge I have to find the best solution even if it's to ignore self doubt. I give myself time, compassion, caring and rest and have learned to say no when I need to. I am empowered to be 100% authentically me and continue to learn to do so without fighting, arguing, begging, pleading or settling. Special thanks especially goes to Stacey for believing in me & allowing me to be 100% authentically me!

I realize that SD may not be for everyone and I'm not reviewing that but the moment I walked in the door the place felt good. The person working the front desk was kind and seemed to really care how my experience went. The facility was clean, tidy, and I felt fully prepared mentally and physically to step into a pitch black tank and float for an hour. I'll be honest, I went in there pretty anxious and walked out on cloud 9. If you haven't tried sensory deprivation, I recommend looking into it and going to SPW. It's pretty cheap for what you get. I haven't tried massage there yet but I'll be going there for that really soon. All of the massage rooms looked really nice! One last thing, after my SD experience, they made me a hot tea and I laid down on their sofa with a weighted blanket on me for about 30 minutes. I had never experienced a weighted blanket before and I was sold!

I booked my service online for a 90 minute float - which is the recommended length for a first float. I checked in at Still Point Wellness about 20 minutes before my appointment. They had me remove my sandals immediately to leave under a bench near the reception desk. They provided new footwear so I didn't have to walk around barefoot. I waited in their waiting area until it was time for my treatment. About 7 minutes past my scheduled appointment time, the receptionist ended up leading me to my float therapy room. She explained the process and then left me to it. I was nervous at first just thinking about being alone with my thoughts in a dark, small room, but it honestly was easy to get used to and a nice break from the real world. My only complaint is I don't think the water was warm enough. They said the temperature would be around 95 degrees and it is supposed to mirror the human body temperature. However, I found the water to be very lukewarm in the center of the float tank. For some reason whenever I was near the wall of the float tank, it was the ideal warm temperature for me. When the 90 minutes were up, soft music started playing and a blue light turned on in the float tank. They have a private shower in the float tank room so make sure you wash all the salt off you. Overall, I would definitely do float therapy again and hope it was just a one off with the temperature.
