The second time he started the visit by reprimanding me for not getting 8 cavities filled at my last visit, again he had mixed up my chart with another patient. The last straw was when at a visit I told him I had been waking up in the morning with a tense jaw and was afraid that I had developed night time grinding and asked for recommendations on how to manage it. He rolled his eyes and said, "just stop". Not exactly the most helpful suggestion for managing an involuntary activity when you're asleep. I switched dentists and discovered that I have a misalignment contributing to night time bruxism which was treated with a bite guard and adjustment.

The woman at the front desk acted like I was crazy out of my mind for saying I had an appointment today . They offered no apologies. and made no attempt to reschedule. They did tell me that I could wait an hour because the hygienist had a patient at 12:30, which was supposed to be me. Prior to this, I had billing problems with them. One time they didn't bill my insurance. When questioned, they said it was because the image of the card I sent them was blurry. Instead of telling me that it was blurry and asking me to send a new one, they just didn't bill insurance and kept sending me bills. ??? I sent a new clearer image to the 2-to-3 different phone numbers they told me to text it to and I guess one of them finally worked and they billed insurance. Then they told me there was a balance still due so I called and the woman, and over the phone she said the remaining balance was $23 so I paid it. Two days later I got a bill for $44. It's just these weird expenses and a very disorganized scheduling and building system. Today the woman at the front desk, even though I was clearly upset when I left shouted "have a nice day!" after me in a passive aggressive way. The hygienist I had was good but the billing and front desk staff are unacceptably bad. I'm happy to be moving.

I've gone twice during COVID and twice before and all four times I'm so glad I chose this dentist…read more It's quiet, there's relaxing music, you have a choice of pillows and essential oils, etc. I would say I have had a great, if not better, experience during COVID because when you get there you ring the doorbell, you cover your shoes with fabric covers, they give you hand sanitizer and you go right back to the chair. I'm never there more than an hour and a half for a cleaning. X-Rays are always quick and easy which is not always the case with other dentists.

He didn't recommend it but I hated the food getting stuck in there. He pulled it out with literally no pain or anything. Sometimes they clean your teeth with the water jet which signals every nerve in your body to sense pain but afterwards, it is worth it. I recommend this place 100% and I hate the orthodontist. So, don't judge, but I had not been to the dentist in nearly two years, since I moved to Bloomington from California. I loved my dentist in California and so I took my time finding a dentist in Bloomington. (plus I just didn't want to go) Dr Arnold's reviews were glowing, and even though my partner has a different dentist here in B-town, I decided to try Dr Arnold based on Yelp reviews. The office is a bit hard to find if you aren't familiar with the Eastside of town. It is sort of behind the now-closed Marsh store, in a mini mall next to a dance studio and a waxing salon. Plenty of parking in the lot. Courtney was my hygienist today and she was wonderful. She listened to my ramblings about how much I hate the dentist. She was mellow and I felt like she gave my teeth a very thorough cleaning. She was just the right combination of quiet and talkative during the cleaning. (my hygienist in California was very chatty and it's hard to answer questions with sharp instruments in your mouth). There is a tv on the ceiling so you can watch while you have your cleaning. Courtney caught on fast that the show on the History channel was about mass murderers (not a very calming show) and she switched the channel to ESPN for me. Next Dr Arnold (Bill) came in and introduced himself. He was great. Very down to earth and approachable. We chatted a bit about California and then he began his exam. Again, great exam and he gave me advice about some tooth sensitivity I have been experiencing. Next appointment is six months from now and even though I will still be freaked out, I won't be AS freaked out. Definitely recommend. If you have been putting off a dental exam, go see Dr Arnold.
