Failed to diagnose an electrical issue and needed a suggestion from me as to how to repair a gauge problem. Cost me $140 to learn my lesson.

My only problem I have with any of these places is working for the extra sales. I've had guys bring me an air filter that I replaced two weeks ahead of time and said it was dirty and needed replaced because it had a slight tint. My wife won't even go to get the oil changes anymore because she feels so pressured to do everything that these guys say"have"to be done even though her father is a master mechanic and does 90% of the maintenance himself. We do the oil changes so we don't have to bother him for small stuff.

I visited on one of those amazingly frigid January days we get here in the Midwest and they had the heat blasting from above to keep the cavernous, window-filled garage warm. I've been here several times over the last couple of years and the process always moves quickly. Being able to sit in my car the whole time is a perk that keeps me coming back. They were shortstaffed, so I gather that was the reason they did not take a gander at my cabin air filter or try to upsell me on any other items, as is typical. Also skipped was guiding me through resetting the oil change reminder my car gives me. They verified that my headlights and signals were functioning properly, though. I used to think it was a plus that they checked the air in my tires, but when I left this time, I realized that three out of four of my caps weren't screwed back on properly. So next time, I will just have them skip that part and stick to doing it myself. I remembered to grab the discount that's always available: I utilize the synthetic blend, so I saved $15. If you use the full synthetic, it's $20 off. Google it or call the store and choose the option to have a coupon sent directly to your phone. Easy peasy - and one more thing checked off the to do list!

He knew about great details about Valvoline oils, shared that techs must have over 250 hours of training before they can even touch a car. I finally told him who I was and they I once worked for the company. Chris @ their First Capitol St. Charles, MO has a bright future with this company!!

When I returned to the shop, I spoke with Mike and Jared, who informed me that the oil filter was leaking because I had supposedly failed to get my oil changed within three months and needed to schedule another service. I clarified that my dealership recommends an oil change every six months. However, they insisted that dealerships use different oil filters and claimed that their advice was aimed at ensuring the car breaks down, so they can charge for repairs. This experience was not only frustrating due to the poor customer service but also concerning because of the inaccurate and misleading mechanical information provided. It felt as though they were more focused on selling unnecessary services rather than addressing my legitimate concerns. I cannot recommend this shop based on this experience. I will never go to this Valvoline or any other Valvoline shop.

However, I want to emphasize that the garage technicians themselves were outstanding. Every employee who worked on my car was courteous, friendly, and highly professional during our interactions. Unfortunately, these excellent technicians are being severely let down by poor management and chaotic operational workflows: Understaffing: Despite having six service bays, management only scheduled one employee to work at 7:00 AM. System and Clerical Errors: The ticketing system resulted in staff completing my tire rotation at 9:15 AM but placing the car back in the parking lot to wait on an oil change. I inquired several times with little positive results. My car then sat "overlooked" until 10:30 AM, when I then went up to a different technician and inquired on the status of my car and explained I had been here when the auto center opened this morning. The moment I brought this to a technician's attention, he handled it professionally and immediately pulled my car into a bay to finish the job. This four-hour delay was entirely a management failure. The frontline employees do a wonderful job, but leadership needs to fix the staffing and ticketing issues at this location.

Not once have they ripped me off and they have always been very easy to work with. Even as a 22 year old girl, who knows nothing about cars, they have never tried to take advantage of me and have never treated me like I was stupid or lesser because of my knowledge on cars and the many questions I may ask at times. They don't try and up-charge us and only provide the services that we need and request. There aren't any hidden fees and, as precaution, I always check my receipts before check-out and leaving the shop to ensure everything adds up. I've never had an issue in the many years I have been personally bringing my car in. I even had some pretty major things done here from an engine issue to having all four tires ordered and replaced.

They had installed the tire incorrectly and damaged the break pads in a way where they were constantly engaged. Apparently they had "test drove" the car before handing us the keys and the car was "way better now". It is blatantly obvious that they did not do this as the car can barely accelerate past 25 miles per hour. We simply wanted someone to fix a tire.... That has turned into thousands of dollars worth of damage with no compensation from this company. If you're thinking about coming here.... Literally anywhere else is going to be a better bet for you. Cannot express how Terrible service was. Edit: They expect us to drive the damaged vehicle back to their shop and refused to tow it. This is a big deal as the damage they had done to the break pads can cause the pads to overheat and start a fire. It could also cause the breaks to completely give out making the vehicle completely unsafe to drive. Absolute fucking morons running this shit show.
