Until, I found myself an agent at Fusion Artists (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/fusion-artists-toronto) which is right above this coffee emporium. There have been times where I've arrived too early to be dealt with for auditions, or have been caught out and in a rush so much to get to the agency that I neglected to get a coffee in the morning, which, as discussed above is of absolutely no use to anyone. The staff here are consistently friendly, provide fast service, and the food for what it is is decent enough. Certainly decent enough to prevent my growling stomach from performing a duet on tape. Sign one of a good donut shop: There's always a line-up when you go in. Sign two of a good donut shop: They deal with the line quickly and efficiently. This place wins on both counts.

Der Brokorb is a small tucked away bakery and sandwich place in Woodchester mall. A selection of freshly baked breads ($3 per loaf) lines the wall behind the counter which has a small selection of pastries, homemade cookies and desserts. I stopped by for breakfast, but not a whole lot looked especially appetizing. The only thing that quirked my interest was this chocolate almond cookie thing ($1.50, see the picture), but it wasn't very tasty. There wasn't another person in the place, so I'm questioning whether turnover is a problem and how fresh the pastries are. Individual apple pies ($3 each), homemade cookies ($3 per box) looked fairly average. On the positive side of things, when I walked in through the door I was hit with the smell of freshly baking bread so maybe their breads are pretty good. When we asked a question on how much it cost, she said it was by pound. My friend as how many cookies are in a pound and she didn't know. What?? You work here and you don't know approximately how many cookies there are in a pound? The second thing is the small jelly cookies we bought was really bad. It was dry, crusty, and it was like eating hardened sawdust. I wasn't sure how much water I had to drink to swallow the cookie. If you want some authentic European cookies, don't come here.

They've mastered the crunchy crust that is key to the custard tart experience.
