A day at the lake deserves a treat for lunch, and after a quick trip up to Round Lake (next to…read moreDevil's Lake) this fall, my better half and I decided to grab a bite locally. The Sandbar Cafe was a new spot that we hadn't tried yet, and after perusing the menu, we decided to make that our stop for lunch. The idea of a soup/salad/sandwich combo in some permutation of those choices was the perfect thing. I decided to go really wild and try the quiche of the day, a leek and bleu cheese quiche, as well as a bowl of the sweet pepper soup. With both items warmed up, it was just the thing to chase the chill in the air away. If the stuffed sweet pepper soup is on the menu when you visit, order it with confidence. It was the perfect balance of a little sweet a tiny touch of heat, and hearty enough to be filling. The quiche wasn't my favorite (I think I'm just too partial to a quiche Lorraine to be adventurous with other ones), but it was still good. Served with a cookie on the side, it was a filling and delicious meal. The owner was friendly and helpful, providing recommendations for the menu and chit-chatting with us as we ate that day. At the end of the meal, she even offered to recycle my Diet Coke can from lunch that day -- the eco-friendly aspect definitely gave the place a boost in my mind! I'm already looking forward to my next visit to the lake, and another helping of that sweet pepper soup!

Refuge I want to start by saying that I really do love this…read morecoffee shop and I recommend all coffee lovers to try this place out. They have the best espresso in Branch County and I won't get my coffee fix from anywhere else. The shop is cozy and clean. Most of the staff seem to know their stuff and they've all been very professional and friendly. It's one of the most welcoming coffee shops I've ever been to, for sure. They sell Yoder's cinnamon rolls and they're sooooo good! 10/10 highly recommend. If my review was based solely off of what I've said so far, I'd give them 5 stars across the board. Unfortunately tho, I tried their breakfast this morning and wish I hadn't. I don't think anyone should pay $8.50 for the bagel sandwich I received this morning and hopefully these photos will help prevent others from feeling as disappointed as I do. My "everything" bagel had barely "anything" on it, meaning it was extremely hard to tell it was an everything bagel, it looked and tasted more like a plain bagel with a very thin layer of cream cheese on it. I know no one asked for my 2 cents and I don't want this to come off as if I know their business better than they do, because I don't, but if I were to be asked to give them a POSSIBLE solution to prevent this from happening in the future, I would suggest posting their food menu on a blackboard, with prices clearly written out, and where it's easy to read. The drink menu would be a perfect example of this if the prices were listed. A bonus would be if you had the menus & prices on your website as well so it's easy to find! I work in Coldwater and we order from you quite a bit and one thing we've all mentioned is wishing we could see a full menu so we know beforehand how much our orders are gonna cost and I know some of my coworkers have wanted to order food and didn't because they didn't see any prices listed. On a positive note, I absolutely love: -the hand written messages on every single cup. -the miniature Jesus keychains you sell. (My coworker talks about the ones she got from you quite often.) -how clean the entire shop is. -the sign above your bathroom sink. -you put a photo on your website that shows exactly what a drink is made up of, so people can actually see what the difference is between a latte and a cappuccino, etc.

We were in the area and thought we'd try this coffee shop- we weren't disappointed!…read more We enjoyed the general vibe of the place. Clean, cozy space. Scripture printed around, friendly staff. Neat details, like the use of pews for seating. The day we went, their internet was down and we had to go to a nearby atm to get cash out, my understanding is that that isn't usually an issue. Large selection of drinks and the option to do a "flight of lattes"- which is unique and fun. We each had a different beverage- two February special lattes and a chai tea latte- we enjoyed them all! We also tried some different food options, an egg cup, biscuit & gravy and the turkey, bacon, ranch wrap. Again, everything was tasty! Although it would be a 35-40 minute drive, definitely looking forward to going back!

This is by far my favorite coffee shop in the area. I drive about 25 minutes out of my way just to…read morecome here, because every visit feels exactly right. Apryl and Robb, the couple who own the shop, are genuinely so kind and welcoming, and their whole team carries that same warmth. I'm a bit of a wallflower in most places, usually letting social anxiety get the best of me, but I always feel like I have a safe spot at Four Corners. They've created a perfect "third space" just outside of Jackson - somewhere quiet, familiar, and cozy in all the best ways. There are plenty of spots to settle in: tables for small or large groups, comfy armchairs and couches, and a soft backdrop of music that makes it easy to meet with friends, get work done, or just relax with a book. I also love their "take, leave, or borrow" shelves stocked with books and even a few puzzles. It adds to the feeling that this place is meant to be lived in, not just visited :) And the coffee truly is the highlight. The rotating single-origin brews in your choice of fun ceramic mugs feel like something from my own kitchen, and their espresso drinks are the best in the county. Other shops in the area may use the same Hyperion coffee beans, but nothing compares to what Four Corners does with them. Every flavored latte tastes exactly like what you ordered without covering up the espresso. No burnt shots, no watered down iced drinks, no overly sweet syrups - just perfectly balanced every time. It's rare to find a place that gets every detail right on every visit, but Four Corners does. and that's why it's become such a special part of my routine
