My husband and I stopped in last weekend for a coffee treat while driving around the Chimney rock area. The first thing I saw in front of this business was a Puppy Pit stop bowl of water, and I was instantly glad we stopped. What a small yet immensely thoughtful gesture! Now, on to the drinks! My husband ordered a mint frappee and I ordered an iced coffee with cream and toffee syrup. The owner and employee were so friendly and we had great conversation for about 10 minutes. The drinks were both beautiful and delicious. The river runs right behind the coffee shop and we walked down to enjoy the view with our coffee. It was a great experience. Stopped in for an afternoon coffee while visiting Chimney Rock. I had a delicious Carmel latte. The lady was very friendly and we talked about the rebuilding that Chimney Rock is going thru after the hurricane. They had coffee and cold drinks. T-shirts and souvenirs. Small local coffee shop where you can get a caffeine fix, smoothies, or other assortment of goodies. They have a spot to take old-timey photos too. Staff is friendly and helpful. Seating inside and out but don't bother sitting, go down the walkway next to the shop and you come to the river! Nothing better than sipping your coffee and listening to the water! read more

I support local when possible and Coffee on the Rocks was a nice find after our hike near Lake Lure. It's tight and probably very cozy and social when not social distancing. However, they also have seating on the patio and curbside and are nice dog friendly. We took our drinks on the road to enjoy on the ride back to Asheville. My Hot Brewed Coffee was a bit weak for my taste so next time I'll "rock it" (Coffee Rocked) with a shot of espresso. Better yet, I'll order the Americano. My partner enjoyed his cappuccino. This is a cute little spot, but they could do much better things with their food selection! The coffee was pretty good, but the bagel was disappointing. The guy plopped it out if a Lender bagel bag from the store and handed me a packet of cream cheese! I was very disappointed. I wish they made pastries in house, but I imagine that Chimney Rock business can be unpredictable. Sooooooo delicious!!! So so so great!! Sadly, we discovered this place halfway through our trip, otherwise I would have been every single day!! I did get to go 2 times and it was worth every penny! It's a small, locally owned little shop but man do they know how to make an iced latte!! We all got different coffee drinks and everyone loved their drinks! The owner was very very friendly and had a lot of patience with our group! His latte's were probably one of the Top 7 I've ever had!! I wish I could bring this place back home with me!! We stopped here for our morning coffee and the sign says they open at 8 am but they were not open. We left and came back and they were open but they only have one parking space. On the third trip we were able to park and they were open. They offer several of options in coffee, tea and smoothies. My husband had the coffee and he said it was weak and wouldn't recommend it. I had a mocha and it was very sugary and did not look anything like the one they have pictured on here. We also tried a couple of pastries but mine was a little stale and my husband said his had no flavor. Definitely store bought and not made in house. Served in plastic wrap. The prices were about the same as any of the pricey big box coffee shop if not a little higher but this is a small tourist town which is probably why it is so expensive. The decor is old and definitely out of date. The shop is very small and could use a good cleaning and dusting of the pictures all over the walls. We went outside and sat at one of the cute table and we did get to enjoy a little conversation but when we got ready to leave they do not have a trash can outside or napkin dispenser on the table. They do have a cute water bowl outside for dogs! Overall, we would not recommend this coffee shop for the quality and it is way to expensive. read more

This truly is a little gem in Chimney Rock, NC. Located at the base of Chimney Rock State Park, this is the perfect spot for hikers to get a refreshing treat before or after a long day in nature. It's also perfect for those, like my boyfriend and I, perusing the towns of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. By far the best coffee in both of those places. I ordered an Iced Coffee with a little milk and some toffee syrup, which was truly delightful. We sat outside their cute little place sipping on our beverages for quite a while. Something that is completely different about this little piece of heaven is their ability to do old timey photos. Although my boyfriend and I didn't feel up to it on this trip, it's a cute idea to combine the two. The shop itself is smaller inside, but has many seats outdoors, which allows for one to enjoy the breathtaking scenery. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop in for a treat. This is a must stop in if one is visiting Chimney Rock, NC. Not only is this place charming, the staff are very sweet people. Personally, I recommend the mocha. It's sweet but not to sugary. The shop is in a house and has antique charm. As a bonus we were informed that a person can take old time photos there as well. On our vacation to visit Chimney Rock State Park we walked into Coffee On The Rocks. We were drawn to the shop because they took Old Time Photo's. They were so friendly and helpful with information about the town and the park! They took a great Old Time Photo of us and made a great Caffe Latte. Gave us energy for our hike. I came here a couple of days ago while my family was getting ice cream next door. I was not greeted when I walked in until the worker was done with another customer's order which threw me off as I'm used to getting a hello by customer service even if they are busy. The BEST CHAI EVER!! I've tried chai from about every coffee shop (including the chains...) and none of theirs compares to Coffee on the Rocks! Simply amazing!! The rest of my family got an iced caramel latte (also amazing) a mocha frappe (so good) and a strawberry banana smoothie (not a big fan of strawberry but it was astounding!). I've been to the Chimney Rock / Lake Lure area five times on vacation, and am an avid espresso drinker. I believe this is the best coffee shop in the area, hands down. Their Chai tea lattes are the best I've had anywhere, and their espresso drinks are excellent as well. On my last stay of a week's duration, we visited approximately six times.
