The Coffee Mill is one of Longview's locally owned coffee stops, and there's only a few to pick from. Located in the Pine Tree area, which is highly residential, you can grab a styrofoam cup in the morning on your way to work. Be prepared for long lines - it is a popular stop since the nearest Starbucks is a couple of miles down the loop - and selective service from "baristas", who are really just undertrained teenagers/young people. Don't expect polished Starbucks quality baristas who go through training all the time - this is a mom and pop coffee shop. I think with the new owners they having a lot of hiccups but growing room is there. The owners are into politics, so yes, if you get to know them, be prepared to hear a little bit about our nation and their take on the current state of things. I usually get the Chai Tea Latte, and depending on the mood I'm in, I like it better than Starbucks. It's also served a little hotter. Their whipped cream is definitely better. There is NO sit down area, it's a to-go place only. They do offer snacks, but they aren't homemade, so I would just get coffee. The only con I can see is if you're from the west coast, where you know a good cup, this probably isn't it. They are on a tight budget, and go cheap and cost cut wherever they can. This isn't Blue Bottle or Philz. This works for Longview, but not a coffee connoisseur. Overall great tasting and locally owned, LOTS of options on how you want to build your cup, head over and try it for yourself. read more

Amazing coffee! Also everything I want in a coffee place, endless options and 9 different milk alternatives, they definitely take coffee seriously(like me lol). When getting coffee I typically always get an iced latte with coconut milk (no flavor or sugar)and there's was so good! I'm visiting Longview to see family and I'm so happy I found this spot, the drive thru set up is great, back in CT we have a Dunkin on almost every corner so I'm used to that connivence. We really like this place. They whip out drinks fairly quickly but it always takes a while. Which can be frustrating if you are on a schedule or like have a life. It doesn't matter if you walk in ... there's no where to stand when you get inside. To the right is a large office but not a chair or table in sight. They really not have it open to walk in customers, rearrange their service stations & hire a 2nd person per peak times or open a second window. Lots of room for improvement. read more

Those that paraded The Coffee Mill as "the best coffee in Longview" finally convinced convinced me to give it a try. Unfortunately, that title speaks more to the sad state of the Longview coffee scene than anything else. They did however, earn two stars by having a reasonable number of drink options and acceptable service. But that's about it. To begin with, their beans are sub-par. It is painfully obvious that they buy cheap beans. Their baristas are under-trained. I ordered a simple cappuccino. The espresso was under-extracted and the milk was scalded. The result was something that I couldn't even bring myself to finish and I will not be returning. While some of their flavoured drinks may be able drown your taste buds with sugar and whipped cream, I cannot recommend this place to anyone who actually likes coffee. read more

There isn't a better coffee place in Longview! When I lived there, it was a daily stop (very far out of my way--but so worth it!). Now, when I come back to visit, it's a stop that must happen!! What a refreshing place! This is a wonderful place with wonderful people, and amazing coffee! People generally go through the drive through, so if I sit inside it is usually empty, an amazing reverie! Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the occasional Starbucks, but only when I am unable to make it here. The lattes and frozen drinks beat Starbucks any day of the week, and they have SO MANY sugar-free and low fat options! Something that is surprisingly difficult to find, even in this day and age. The only reason I give 4 stars rather than 5 is because when I get a normal coffee (nothing fancy), sometimes things go wrong (I think this is only because the majority of people want fancier lattes, and people have different ways of explaining the same thing). Having worked in a coffee shop before, I certainly can understand how things can get mixed up. I am in town visiting family and I enjoying supporting local shops. One of the hardest things to find are good, local coffee shop with excellent baristas. The Coffee Mill baristas are knowledgeable and are efficient. They take the necessary amount of time to make their handmade drinks. They have a small place in the back with a table and a few chairs (which is still being remodeled), but overall a great place with WiFi. I decided to write this review today after going to coffee mill for my wife. We used to go in all the time but, after meeting the new owner while he was at the grocery store one day, we haven't been back for a while... When he and I originally met he was speaking about people who use food stamps quite poorly. Hence my not having been back. Not everyone who has to use food stamps are bad people who abuse the system. Some people have layoffs and things happen that are beyond their control and need the program temporarily. Upon a return visit the wait was a little long. The car in front of me finally pulled out and I pulled up. As I finished ordering the owner walked out a side door to the vehicles behind me and took their order, something that wasn't done for me as I waited... As I waited the cars behind me in line were served and left. All the while I'm sitting here waiting on my drinks. Why would you make drinks and serve the people in the back of the line first? Why not focus on turning out the orders in the order they came in? Though the coffee and other drinks are outstanding, after all this I believe I will take my business elsewhere. To the owner, serve people as they come in, don't make political statements, and don't bad mouth anyone ever. Those are simple principles of business that will serve you well. read more
