I was there recently and got invited into a tasting, there and there! They were trying some new beans and I was given instructions on the best way to get the flavour. I decided that today I would try out the Urban Coffee by the clock tower in the Jewellery Quarter. The place has an almost hipster/East London vibe with exposed brick work and street art on the walls and fixtures. I sat back and listened to a few Pink Floyd tracks, quickly finishing off my pretty much perfect skimmed hazelnut latte. My only pointer is that the staff don't always remember to stamp your loyalty card. When the coffee is as good as this it would be a real shame to not get a free drink occasionally! Before I left I had a quick look at the breakfast menu, it seems reasonably priced and full of healthy options. Expect another visit and a review asap.

This Starbucks store is a really nice place to sit, relax and have a coffee because of that, which is usually uncommon for a city center branch, although be warned, most of the good seats get taken up fast, with a lot of the chairs being high stools, which are bad for the elderly and wheelchairs etc, and it can get really busy with large queuing simply due to its' location in the city center. The toilets seemed clean enough, there was only one toilet so they was a very crammed space, with a lot of people queuing which should have been dealt with better, there might be toilets in the mall but there should be more here if they is a demand for it. Due to a large queue, I ordered on my phone, I checked with the barista that it was the "Middle Mall" store, and I was dissapointed she didn't seem to know and had to ask, where the location was she was in and worked. My drink was served quite quick, although there wasn't as much Vanilla bean as I'd have probably liked, my drink was okay but it was nothing more than that, the drink was far too hot, the hottest I've ever been served from a Starbucks, which although is good, just didn't seem right and the rest of my drink had that too, it just tasted stirred and I could barely taste the Vanilla bean flavoring, until at the bottom which was sweeter than sucking a candycane, my drink was okay but definitely could have been made better to the standards of Head Office. The staff didn't seem great, but were typical of a city center branch. This is a nice store, with the location and view winning it bonus points and an extra star, I would have loved to give 4 as this is one of the nicer Starbucks' stores I have visited, but the quality of the coffee, and issues with the baristas not being as friendly as other stores and toilets, means they'll have to settle for a solid 3, which still is fair for a branch which in many ways is so cool!

The service was a little slow, admittedly with it being a busy Saturday afternoon, this was expected, the barista who served me did apologise for my wait, which I appreciated. I ordered my festive favourite, the Venti Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte, I often find corporate-owned stores to be considerably overpriced on this, charging £4.60. Sadly I was unimpressed with my beverage, I found it to simply taste very caramelly and not right at all - perhaps this is down to the beverage only just coming back a couple of days ago and staff being poorly trained? 2* - Dissapointing Starbucks location, I ended up throwing some of my drink away. I hope they can maintain better standards during off-peak times in the shopping season.
