Very nice.
My gran used to take me here for lunch when I was little and over 30 years later I still eat here and take my daughter here for lunch.
Not much has changed here in over 50 years and it has a nice feel.We always sit downstairs, its much much nicer than the upstairs.Downstairs is a proper restuarant whereas upstairs has a smaller menu for quick lunches and snacks and is plainly decorated.
I thoroughly recommend the creme du barrie soup which I think Svend must have sold on with the business. The soup is famous and most ladies who lunch here come for the soup.
Also recommend the Kulmbach special(toast, ham, scrambled egg and cheese melted on top).
Try their pancakes too, freshly made and a meal in themselves being the size of a dinner plate, infact I dare you to try and finish one.
Avoid the busy periods, there are queues for tables around 11am and again at lunch time.Book in advance or time it right.
Evening meal menus look fab but I have never had an evening meal there yet. read more
