They keep the beer well and it rotates regularly. The usual selection of lager for people who enjoy that sort of stuff. A couple of premium spirits but nothing special. The staff are nice and relatively efficient. The atmosphere is pleasant and relatively quiet. The function room has a private bar cloakroom to keep the customers away from the main bar. Large modern function room to suit many needs.

We were a party of five and squeezed in at the back of what used to be the bar before the renovation. I can't say it was terrible, although the booths look like they can accommodate more than four, I can testify this is not really the case. The staff seemed friendly if a little inexperienced and the menu itself and selection available is quite decedent. The atmosphere overall was very good although to be honest at this time of year, you would expect it to be regardless. My starter was a breaded brie salad, which was lovely if a little sweet with the sauce and dressing. Regrettably the biggest disappointment for me was the steak. I've ate a lot steak over the years and I ordered the sirloin with fries, with a rub and a cheese sauce. At the price, I would have been lucky if the steak itself was more than 5oz and although there was a good serving of fries and the cheese sauce was lovely, you don't order steak for the garnish. The lack of steak sadly ruined the experience for me, although since it is so close I might need to give it another go, just to see if my experience was a once off. The sad fact is that my steak would have made a great burger, no less and no more. The meals in the rest of our party seemed well presented and plentiful, just let this warning stand to meat lovers that go expecting a cut above the rest.
