A solid little coffee shop pouring D'arte (an especially forgiving and chocolaty roast). Service is super friendly and the whole vibe is upbeat. The store is clean, with seating for 20 inside and 6+ outside.
Prices run about a dollar cheaper than Seattle standard. Music is hip-pop, top 40, new country and a little too loud, but it's part of the youthful, upbeat atmosphere.
I tried their "cubano", which is like a miniature latte with cinnamon and "Sugar in the Raw" (basically coarse sugar with a little molasses added for color). True Cuban coffee, or cafecito, is espresso mixed vigorously with Demerara sugar, (a coarse brown sugar with a toffee flavor and aroma) as it's poured, and has no cinnamon or milk. However: What it lacks in authenticity, it makes up for in flavor. A tasty little shot! Be sure you stir yours up- the coarse sugar does not completely dissolve on its own.
I had them pour me a straight doppio too, to watch the technique and check their quality. The shots poured a little fast, resulting in a thinner and slightly bitter straight shot, but because they are using D'arte, there was still good chocolate and even a little burnt sugar and nut flavor on the palette, decent crema and little acid. Amazing stuff, D'arte. It's like espresso with training wheels!
Not a bad little shop. Missing star for the lack of fresh edibles, and absent wifi. read more
