Wanted some good coffee while I was in town so made the short walk from my hotel to the Coffee Box and was not disappointed. I ordered the iced horchata latte based on its label as a "favorite." It was delicious, a little sweeter than I usually take my coffee, but given it was horchata it's completely understandable and warmly welcomed. The coffee also gave me a good kick, which is key to the perfect rating. I also got an onion bagel with cream cheese. Perfectly toasted. A classic, satisfying breakfast. Lastly the atmosphere. The coffee box is made out of shipping containers painted full of murals. You order your food and drinks downstairs, then you can take it upstairs to their small but cozy dining area. I was just passing through El Paso on the way to the airport and saw that this place has creative drinks and good ratings- my family and I got the pistachio latte, charcoal smoothie, and mocha latte (all iced size medium). Personally, I thought it was all a bit pricey (over $15), but the flavors were great. The mocha tasted more like chocolate than coffee, but overall still delicious. Super cute place to grab a coffee in the downtown El Paso area. I love how they've recycled shipping containers to create great little outdoor seating areas upstairs and downstairs. They serve hot and cold teas, frappe, and cold brews, in addition to all the usual items one may find at a coffee shop. Drinks come in at $3.50-5 for the small sizes. What fascinated me most about this place was the concept of a Charcoal Latte. Charcoal in my latte?? Hmmm... wasn't really sure to what to make of it, but obviously had to try it. I asked if the charcoal latte is generally sweet and if it would be possible to make it less sweet as I am not a fan of sugary drinks. The cashier said it would not be too sweet and that it's a pre-mix. Went ahead and got the small size. Holy mama it was way too sweet for me! To the point where it was kind of a struggle for me to drink it. The charcoal flavor is mixed with coconut so you actually get a strong sweet coconut flavor when you take sips. I'm not a huge fan of coconut or highly sweet drinks so I didn't really end up enjoying it much. But hey, if you don't try it you'll never know if you like it! I have nothing bad to say about this place. The coffee was ok. The service was decent but really slow, I get it, it's hard to find help nowadays. The ambiance is really cool. Cute lil coffee place! I went every day I was in El Paso because it's the best coffee I found. The container itself looks so much like something out of Portland, which I just loved. The ladies making the coffee were all sweet. There's not too much room to sit, but for a coffee on the go it works. (Went to the little park close by to sit in instead.) I had to try this place because of how cool it is. It is 2 railroad cars stacked with the top one hanging off one end. There is indoor and outdoor seating both up and downstairs. There also seems to be a fire pit in the downstairs outdoor seating. There is no parking, so you have to either pay $3 an hour in the lot or park by a meter. I got a hazelnut iced coffee. It was a bit bitter, so maybe over brewed. I also tried the coffee and pistachio macaroons. I would not get the coffee macaroon again. It's like the outside and the filling don't agree with each other. The pistachio macaroon was very good. They were perfectly baked with a slightly crisp outside and soft inside. Their food and coffee are good but their customer service and employees are horrible I do like their food but their service keeps me away from them. I will get text messages for a free item or 15% my order and they never know how to do it they say it doesn't come up on their system. Who knew shipping containers would be the next wave of coolness? Second- who would've thought El Paso would be on their A game regarding this. As I was walking towards these massive orange shipping containers, I secretly was wondering if the top one would ever tip over like lego blocks. Unfortunately, the laws of physics don't allow that to happen so it just creates a fun illusion for those passing by. The bottom container features the actual cafe with three tables and a pop up bathroom within. Gotta keep in mind y'all that shipping containers don't normally carry a full size bathroom with a toilet and sink. The drinks are pretty good when dealing with coffee; however, their tea selection is mainly pre-packaged tea bags. I know I know... I'm being picky but I really do prefer my loose leaf tea. Price wise they have it set and I dig the complimentary wifi and unique seating in the top container. I mean for caffeine sakes, they have an outdoor patio on the second floor. That's too school for cool. (Too lazy to fix this sentence and would rather type this out than simply hit delete button, damnit meant the delete button) I kinda wish they offered actual food but I'm sure they'll eventually team up with someone or will expand their menu. I got the featured pistachio latte with almond milk, and was thrilled that it didn't leave that gross film on my tongue that usually happens when you order any flavored latte. First time there today. Service was good. We ordered a white chocolate mocha, hot chocolate and a cinnamon roll. My mocha was a bit strong for my taste, but was tasty. My wife liked her hot chocolate, for me it had a taste that is hard for me to describe but wasn't bad. Very cool concept! A coffee house made from a repurposed storage container. An excellent coffee house in downtown El Paso. Stopped in for breakfast and had a coffee and bagel. Their coffee was fresh and excellent. The bagel was equally good. It was very relaxing sitting in the rooftop area. My only criticism is I wish they had better breakfast choices. Located close to San Jacinto Plaza in a cool storage container, this coffee shop appears to be a favorite in the area. The inside is very small, poorly set up - the line to order drinks forms right in the middle of the sitting area which leaves no space to move around or sit comfortably with other people standing within inches of you. There are some seating areas upstairs which is the best spot to sit if you want to relax for a bit while enjoying a drink. The menu offers a wide variety of coffees, lattes, smoothies and hot chocolate. I ordered both a small mazapan smoothie and small hot chocolate, paid $10 for both, sadly neither was great. The placement of the establishment is good as well as the design! I also want to start by saying I really wanted to at least like the place but the flavors just weren't there for me or my husband. He drinks coffee and I drink tea. It was really average and I even tried a chocolate muffin and I couldn't even taste the chocolate that much. It had a funny packaged taste to it instead. The Coffee Box is a sight to behold when you are downtown in El Paso. Having shipping containers as the structure of the coffee shop is such a great idea. I have seen this design implemented in other cities and countries, but I am so happy to see this type of architecture being implemented in El Paso. My family and I decided to stop in and pick up a coffee after we completed looking for all of the Downtown Hidden Hearts for the Hidden Hearts contest. This was my second time here but this time I went with my family and we tried out the sweets. I ordered a White Chocolate Frappe, my brother ordered a Caramel Frappe, and my mother had a regular cappuccino. We also ordered some macaroon pastries two raspberry and one pistachio nut, and two chocolate eclairs. The coffee was absolutely amazing and personally thought they were made to perfection. My mother and brother said there chocolate eclairs were delicious and as for my macaroons I found them to be great but way too sweet. I have had macaroons from several different bakeries and honestly these were the sweetest I have ever tasted. I like sweet stuff but not that sweet. I would recommend only if you really have a hinkering for some incredibly sweet macaroons. The best part of the coffee box is sitting up on the patio and just drinking your coffee and enjoying the weather. One of the staff members even came up and brought down the sun shades which made the experience even better. If you pay a visit definitely sit on the patio as on average normally our weather is pretty nice. read more
