Stopped in here after a night out to get a pick-me-up while finding breakfast. It was a cute little shop, loved the ambiance! I'd totally camp out here and work or meet a friend if I lived closer! I also found out how knowledgeable the baristas were about coffee. I was going to get a decaf espresso (for Free Espresso Friday), but the bartista said the espresso doesn't taste as good straight up if you get decaf. So, she encouraged me to get it in a latte. So I did: Bartista's choice. If you let the barista choose your drink, then you get a few dollars off. You can give them restrictions, though. I told them decaf with almond milk (they also have soy), and I ended up with a delicious hazelnut latte! Don't forget about free espresso Friday! Really authentic experience. The coffee is delicious and the atmosphere is great. I love that they buck the American trend of huge sizes...offering 8,12,16 oz. I usually stick with the brewed coffees but they have an extensive gourmet coffee menu and a decent selection of pastries. read more

Excellent coffee. I have only ordered regular coffee, lattes and cappuccinos but they are high quality (close to blue bottle or ritual if you live out West). Prices are high for the area but for great coffee it's worth it. Downtown location has more character than Eastside one but both serve the same great beans. read more

It was bizarre. We waited for our to go coffee for *actually* 25 minutes before asking for our money back so we could leave. Two stars instead of one because it looked like one of the women working was new and about to cry. But the other one had a terrible attitude and was talking really loud to the other woman as we were frustratedly but still politely asking for our money back about how it's not their fault since they're short staffed. It wasn't even busy, it's just a normal Saturday afternoon and when we got there, there wasn't even anyone in front of us in line. But it was like we were putting them out for asking for our money back after 25 minutes with no coffee or explanation. So weird. read more

Let me start this off with the fact that I LOVE coffee. I lived in Seattle. It's in my blood. I drink enough caffeine to kill a medium-sized animal. I like it iced, flavored, black, hot, in milkshakes, latte, americano, whatever. I will drink it all. I have had coffee all over the place. The customer service in this place is terrible. First off, the barista working the register gave me a once-over and a weird look like I had just crawled out of the depths of corporate greed itself or something. Perhaps my church clothes were not to their standards. Not sure. They are pretentious and snobby. Sure, it's all about the "experience." However, the "experience" of the coffee means nothing if you are rude to customers. I was not personally affected by the "not able to add flavor to iced coffee or espresso" rule, but several people around me were. I worked at a steakhouse for an eternity and sure, I died a little inside every time someone put A1 on prime rib but HEY! Who am I to judge? Give the people what they want. The espresso was bitter to boot. The place was not comfortable to sit in, the baristas glare at people who dare to ask for things they are "unfortunately unable to serve" (like vanilla in an iced coffee, God forbid). I am so disappointed. They have every opportunity to teach people about great coffee, sustainable sourcing, etc. without being uppity, but they did not deliver on that. I don't know who pissed in their coffee beans and made them think they were the Mount Olympus of coffee shops but they need to go on somewhere else. Go to Kaladi's. They source awesome coffee and espresso and will serve it to you with a smile in whatever way you want it. read more

They make flavored from scratch rather than using manufactured syrups you see most other places. I feel like drinks from Coffea are made more naturally. The staff are total coffee nerds which I say as a compliment. They know their stuff and have fun trying new things. read more

The masala latte is amaaaaaazing. We stopped through Sioux Falls briefly and came back 3 times for this spicy deliciousness. Lavender was good too. Overall, great drinks, and they have almond milk. 4 stars because the baked goods were pretty bland and oversweet. read more

This is one of my top two favorite coffee places in Sioux Falls (or Brookings for that matter ) The coffee is excellent, I always get an americano, and it has the right amount of bitterness that you are looking for in that type of coffee. It's also a good place to sit and do some work. I'll typically grab a large coffee and a sparkling water and work for about 2 hours, and I never feel like a free loader or anything. It has that coffee shop vibe you are looking for. The cost of an americano is in the 2-3 dollar range for a medium or large I think, basically I feel like the price is right where it should be, definitely not overcharging. read more

They had coffee, but that was about the only thing that really met the expectations.. I was hoping for a fun quirky little coffee shop, resembling the feeling most of the downtown stores present, however, stopping in for a coffee, I have never felt more uncomfortable, or unwelcomed in a coffee shop before. I clearly did not fit their desired cliental, and felt like an outsider into the little world they had created. I appreciate how some people may enjoy it, and feel comfortable there, but it is not for everyone and I ended up getting my coffee to-go, as to not stay in the situation any longer. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday in the fall. Counter staff were rude when we ordered drinks as they come off the menu, didn't ask for anything weird or non standard. Gave me the wrong sized drink then were mad and even more rude that I politely pointed out it was incorrect. Hey things happen, just wanted what I ordered. They were not that busy but the team making coffee seemed to be having major problems and were arguing. Eventually received the latte. The underlying coffee seemed good. The odd fruity tasting vanilla syrup was off putting enough that I didn't finish it. read more

This place would be a lot better if it handled certain situations with its' customers differently. My wife and I stopped in here one day and we each got a medium latte. The drinks themselves were good. Our daughter, who works for a different coffee shop, had just gotten off work and was going to meet us there. We thought it would be nice to buy her a drink too so she'd have something when she arrived. When she came in holding a drink from her coffee place I noticed the girl at the register got visibly irritated and went to talk to a coworker. I thought, 'Yeah, not the best move to bring in an outside drink. But at least we got her something here.' Our daughter joined us at the table and within a few minutes I see this worker make his way over to us. I could tell he was mustering himself up for something. When he got to us he proceeded to inform our daughter that they don't allow other drinks at the store and that it would have to be taken out. We were all kind of dumbfounded, not expecting that. My daughter apologized, not knowing the policy, and said she could leave and just go home after all. He didn't care to notice that we bought 3 of their expensive drinks. Just wanted to push a policy on paying customers. What prompted this review was hearing that it happened to another girl that was asked to leave Coffea. Apparently she was waiting to meet a friend who was taking a while to show up. She didn't want to get anything before her friend could join her. Someone at Coffea eventually told her that she would have to buy something or leave. Shocked, she left and went to the coffee shop that our daughter works at, saying that she was just kicked out of Coffea and how rude they were to her. These occurrences make me view the workers as being snobs. They made a big deal out of nothing really. Jerks. read more
